  1. True. I've heard before that a player probably loses 5 pounds over the season, due to all the wear and tear and exhaustion. Maybe he'd be even better at 180 lbs. I just want him to be strong enough to handle himself in the corners and along the wall.
  2. Nice article, thanks for posting.
  3. ^ I think he could stand to bulk up to at least 175 or 180, if only to prevent him from getting knocked around by bigger players. Apparently that was an adjustment for him in his 1st year in the AHL, so not too surprised there. Obviously we don't want him sacrificing his speed though so there's a fine balance somewhere.
  4. That was a sick dangle and pass for the game winner against Hamilton too, in the 2nd OT IIRC! Off the rush his plays seem to be very impressive and heady.
  5. Yeah, but at least he was good enough to get an invite from them which is still pretty good. It must have been something to do with the contract limit. Their loss... our gain! You can really tell he's got a sweet shot from that video and has smarts too. Skating looks alright, not sure about the first couple steps though.
  6. He's still only 20 and some people forget that. I want to see him develop and tear up the AHL first and I know he can do it.
  7. Thanks! I think he has a good chance to get 30+ again, and he breaks his career high and gets 36 goals. He should have a chance since he'll be starting the season healthy unlike 2010-11. We didn't see enough of his patented backhand deke on those shorthanded breakaways this year. Here's to seeing him score many of those again in future.
  8. What better place than this legendary thread to have your 1000th post? Go Burrows!!! You are a hero, and you ARE Clutch!
  9. Gillis' plan is finally nearing fruition. After the end of next season we should start seeing guys like Hodgson and maybe Rodin push for spots with the team. Also, to me Higgins is not an ideal 2nd liner. I know he was hampered by that foot injury in the playoffs but he's more of a 3rd line guy, who maybe even gets pushed down to the 4th line if we find a good winger for Kesler and Raymond comes back to play on the 3rd line. Higgins' goal-scoring ability just doesn't seem to be there anymore, unfortunately. Still a heck of a 2-way player though.
  10. I went back and made sure I plussed every single one of them. Now if only I could minus the OP again.
  11. ^ haha yeah, there used to be legendary arguments between posters and him... good stuff :D
  12. I see. I agree it'd be nice to see Cody start to take on some of the defensive duties too, hopefully under Manny's tutelage.
  13. Did Archibald play on the PK in Niagara? If so, that would fit right in with a lot of other prospects like Anthony, Friesen and Grenier who play a two-way game while also possessing skill of their own. We've sorely needed some size in the system to go along with skill, and this year we seem to finally be addressing that.
  14. An injury that limits his effectiveness by hampering his movement isn't an excuse, but then he shouldn't be ashamed for not being in good enough shape? I don't follow...
  15. He came back from a high ankle sprain but was still feeling the effects of it during the 2nd half of the season. Hopefully our young prospects will all stay healthy and develop consistency next year. Always sucks to see them lose development time when they get injured.
  16. Man I hope his shoulders are alright. Would suck for him to lose his shot. Also hoping that it won't be a chronic issue in future. Would be just our luck though.
  17. Wasn't he in Vancouver or Winnipeg last year after his SEL season ended? To check out the city? I would hope he attends the camp starting July 5th, so he can bond with some of the guys he'll be playing alongside in Chicago. However if the Wolves struggle to score like the Moose did last year, don't expect too much out of him. His style of play does seem to be a good fit for the smaller rinks in NA though, so we'll see. All that aside, with everyone excited about his abilities, are there any weaknesses in his game we should keep in mind? So far he seems like a very complete player... does he need to add strength or improve his defensive play?
  18. Good point. If you look at who could potentially play centre, we have Hodgson, Schroeder, Friesen and Ebbett for the top 3 lines. Doell's not exactly a beast either. Looks like the Wolves won't have a whole lot of size down the middle anyway. But it shouldn't matter, if they're good enough and provided they have size on the wings to work with. Whatever the case, I just hope we don't f*ck up his development switching him around and around trying to get things working for him.
  19. Didn't he struggle on the wing this year though? However I see them giving him another shot on the wing this season after offseason training and such.
  20. Schroeder needs another year in the AHL at least. Let's see him really put up numbers first. But by the time the 2012-13 season rolls around I suspect he could be ready for a split season: ~40 games in the AHL, ~40 games in the NHL. Or a 50/30 split.
  21. OOOOOOHHHHHHHH YEAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!! SHAME ON YOU CLUTCH, -1000 AND YOU WILL NEVER LIVE THIS DOWN!!!!!!! BEST THREAD EVER And just to commemorate the occasion, the man himself:
  22. Who cares if this is pinned or not? Won't make a difference either way!
