Is Luongo sitting out again because he's in play?
Ugli Fruit replied to VegasCanuck's topic in Canucks Talk
You know for a city as "beautiful and nice" as Vancouver, the citizens are rather angry -
Is Luongo sitting out again because he's in play?

STL needed goaltending but that was because they COULD get a goalie in Miller. Starting goalies are almost never moved around and the Blues would have still been a contender with Halak and Stewart. The point is that it's unlikely that Lu will be moved unless it will allow this team to, on paper, become a cup contender. Ie trading Lu + ___ should bring back a PMD and a scoring winger or it's just not worth it. -
The interviewer should just ask Gillis why he is being so vague and unwilling right to his face, and force an answer. MG needs to understand that this won't continue without a sizeable portion of the club's fanbase will leave

Man the only d-man not useless right now is Stanton We miss Tanev so much it's ridiculous

There were times Weise saved the team by scoring goals, and now suddenly he is useless. Stay classy CDC.

What's going on with David Booth?

Well written. I hope for his sake, depression isn't the issue. That would be awful. Also, I wish we could've figured it out for Rypien sooner.. -
What's going on with David Booth?
Ugli Fruit replied to Everybody Hates Raymond's topic in Canucks Talk
I don't have bias for or against Booth. I didn't make much of his acquisition and I am not here to say he is going to carry this team. I am simply saying, whether or not one has a positive or negative view of a player, to be critical of the appropriate issues. I agree that Booth may not be Torts' idea of the ideal hockey player. That said, Booth is an asset to this team in the sense that there really is not direct replacement for the kind of hockey he is capable of bringing. Sure, Torts is a great coach, but I don't see how this is any different from AV's doghouse, especially when this team desperately needs speed, size and someone who is capable of driving the net (something Booth has consistently done no matter what his point production). You can't pin the team's struggles on him because he hasn't really made any sort of impact yet. I would be fine with the team dealing him at any point, as long as they can replace him directly. Realize this people: Booth may be struggling, but he is still the best at his role - simply because there is no other on the team who can do it better. Go acquire Perron or something or shush please -
What's going on with David Booth?

This is what I hate about CDC. Most of it is too dumb to realize that all players struggle - even the best. Look at how many current and former Canucks "sucked" according to CDC: Booth, Raymond, Edler, Hodgson, Kassian, etc. None of these players are elite of course however they are effective players because they have all the tools and skills that will allow them to excel at their respective playing styles. But when CDC decides to hate on someone, they always go after the guy, not his form. According to CDC, Booth can't skate, when he is arguably the best offensive zone skater we have. According to CDC, Edler was "never good" and is "slow". It's... It's like 75% of this board has short term memory loss or something. God damn, use your fcuking brains people. It's called FORM. It exists, even in hockey. To this day Booth has not had a single stretch of games where everything was going right for him. Even this time, he had to basically scrap what little team chemistry knowledge he had from AV and relearn a much more grinding, intense and demanding Tortorella style, which is unlikely to be the easiest way to regain form on the ice from a lengthy wait. -

He has a pretty good shot (top 8 on the roster), he is decent considering he is the only Canuck strong enough to even take the puck to the net, and - ugh forget it: -

He plays played with Richardson and Kassian. Not exactly top 6 players but ok, apparently a scorer with 2 bottom six players somehow has to produce top 6 minutes by himself. The team has nobody who can drive to the net an cause havoc the way Booth does. Even on occasions when he doesn't get the puck on net, it creates a chance for the team. -

I rarely say this but this is the dumbest CDC post I've ever seen. -
Gillis silent while Canucks need him most (Bold moves my ass)
Ugli Fruit replied to Jamaicanice's topic in Canucks Talk
And what you're doing is waiting for something to blow up and go "see I told you so". Gillis obviously invested a lot into the 2011 year because he saw the potential of this core when he joined the team. He tried to give NTCs in exchange for a cheaper cap hit for our top players so he could establish a stronger bottom 6. It was all an investment for a cup and it nearly worked for the first time in team history. Of course it looks bad now since we have no cup. But if we did win in 2011, this situation would be "inevitable" and "there is nothing MG can do about it". -
GAH I'm too used to EST not PST, sorry!

This Christmas break really helped in terms of Lu's recovery. We need every free day we could get 3-2 Canucks

Exactly. Sometimes you can't just throw away players because they are slightly overpaid.

Why Do The Canucks Always Play Philly Around New Years?

Don't worry, what follows soon after April usually is a joke for us
