I will never understand superstition. Maybe I am just not narcissistic enough to believe that my actions, words or thoughts have any effect on the outcome of a random event. There is literally no evidence that whatever one us might be doing has any influence on a completely unrelated outcome.
In any case I have noticed that the "superstition crowd" will criticise you for both positive and negative thoughts. If you claim that a positive outcome will occur then you are "jinxing" your team. If you are predicting a negative outcome your pessimism will cause your team to lose.

We have had one of the worst teams in sports since we came in. 45 years in the league and we were best in the regular season twice and never won a championship. We only got to the finals 3 times. Keep in mind that some of the best players were even worse. Bobby Orr wore a Rams horn EVERY GAME. Wayne Gretzky was afraid of planes. Both have many more superstitions. We are strong fans and we would do anything to beat Gary bettman and win the lottery today. I think that deep down we know that there is no 'hockey God' and our thoughts don't influence the decision of anyone in the hockey world. We just look for that competitive edge.
