  1. Either quote the posts/posters that you think exhibit hatred towards any player otherwise shut your yap. No one here as far as I know was rioting so the riot had literally nothing to do with the rest of us. There is no such thing as "guilt by association", anyone who believes in it is either a moron or just being an a-hole. Either way their opinion is not important and I am not sure why any Canucks fan would repeatedly throw that in our face, which just makes me believe that you aren't really a fan and just another dull troll.
  2. Just borrow one of your mom's cleavers/long knives and stick in underneath the bed. Make sure its razor sharp so that you could potentially do some damage to anyone who comes in your vicinity. Depends really on what this is, if you are sensing a threat from someone and taking proactive measures then I would suggest cameras and a surveillance system but if this is a general fear thing then I would just go with the knife.
  3. Aliens arrived, observed us, judged us as homicidal maniacs and not worthy of contact. OR Aliens arrived, observed Trump, concluded that there was no intelligent life to be found on the planet.
  4. I don't see any indication that they are asking Jake to tone it down in practice. I think this is just an overreaction from the Horvat clip, probably had more to do with not taking undisciplined penalties, than not playing hard. Practice is supposed to simulate game conditions so the coaches would be doing a poor job if they asked Jake to take it easy. Jake cannot afford to do so either considering he is in a contract year and needs whatever edge that he can get. Also QH is too good of a skater for Jake to catch cleanly, so no concerns for me there.
  5. I see the first Kings Cup win in similar light to the Blues recent win, both teams got two excellent two-way centers for fairly cheap because those players wanted out of Buffalo/Columbus. They struggled mightily before they managed to figure it out with the help of a coaching change. Both teams were right on the cusp, till those trades which pushed them over the top. Coaching changes are also a shot in the arm of any team and it turned into the perfect storm.
  6. Chayka ran an analytics company before he got the job, yet many of the moves he made as GM have run counter to analytics. I am not entirely sure why people reference analytics as the reason for Chayka's mediocre GM career, 32/32 teams now have an analytics department. Teams are now using it in their scouting at the junior level as well to track development. Analytics are one tool in the arsenal of an organization, to disregard it entirely is just as ignorant as using it as the be all and end all of evaluations.
  7. The produce aisle in the store I go to is a nightmare, I need my fruits otherwise I would never step in there. They need to define the rules more clearly because the elderly man is not really an exception even though I have never seen someone take it to that extent. They probably need someone there full time just to make sure that people aren't crowding the area which happens way too often. There are quite a few people I notice many of them clearly at most risk trying to find the best item from a pile. Seems quite foolhardy to say the least.
  8. Went to the grocery store, headed over to grab some lettuce and I see a middle-aged woman standing behind an elderly man (looked like he was 70+) and he seemed rather insistent on turning over every single pack on the shelf. This was going on for like 3min, the woman was looking like she was ready to blow. She is trying to catch my eye. I am trying to avoid her eye because I just want to get out without any drama. Eventually she throws up her arms in air, and tells the man that people are waiting behind him, his response "I'll just be another minute". Pissed off she just goes and stands right next to him. I ended up waiting them both out, sometimes its better not to engage. Not the end of the world to take a few extra minutes especially if you can avoid the crazies.
  9. What can I say? You are right. You are the most diehard of the diehard fans that has ever walked the face of this planet. That makes you a true arbiter of fandom. I vow to you you we will all come to you with our posts so that they meet your approval before we click that submit button. We owe you that honour as we are pathetic and you are the enlightened. Like Moses you will lead us to the promised land!
  10. I would say the people who can't follow simple instruction are more of a problem. In your scenario are we living in some sort of alternate reality where gravity doesn't exist below 3 feet? In that case we would all be floating 3 feet above the ground. If not then this is entirely nonsensical, and in this scenario I would not be crawling I would be wondering if Dr. Bonnie somehow got replaced by a pod person. No one says that you have to wear a mask all the time, if you are outdoors and can social distance then you really don't need to be wearing one. If you are indoors and have great ventilation, you can probably get away with not wearing one but I would recommend still wearing one. If you are in an enclosed space, with the AC running, little to no ventilation then everyone should be wearing a mask without exception. If a mask is not available then just use any piece of cloth as a facial covering. Masks have nothing to do with masculinity or toughness, or whatever insecurity you are projecting onto them. A mask is about respect and consideration for your fellow human beings. I know I am at less risk if I contract the virus, (for all I know I might even have it) but if do not take precautions then I am needlessly risking spreading the infection to people who are at risk either directly or indirectly. As I explained above wearing a mask isn't about self-preservation. Its not about keeping you safe, its about keeping those who are at risk safe. If what you desire is normalcy then you should take the guidelines to curb the spread of COVID-19 seriously. The NHL playoffs are the furthest thing from normal, just ask the players who are now away from their friends and families, playing in a bubble without any fans around. If we want normalcy then we will need to be rid of the virus, anyone who is ignoring guidelines is just delaying how long we remain in this state. They are put simply a blight on our country as we need co-operation from the public in order to open things back up. Our economy, businesses, livelihoods, are dependent on each and every citizen taking responsibility for their actions. If Donald Trump can stop fighting masks and accept that its one's 'patriotic' duty to wear a mask, then so can you.
  11. Doesn't matter if it is over the top criticism or head stuck in sand syndrome, the only opinion that actually matters is Benning's. Virtanen was his first pick as GM and at #6 overall the franchise has invested significantly into him. That does buy you some cache in this league historically speaking, and he is a local kid to boot. There is no doubt in mind that just from an optics perspective moving on from Virtanen reflects poorly on Benning, especially as Juolevi hasn't quite lived up to expectation either. But while its difficult to move on from Virtanen I don't think he would hesitate to do so if he believed that Virtanen was done growing both in terms of his play on the ice and maturity off of it. With that said I would advise Jake that there are limits to everyone's patience. I think this summer and the contract that Virtanen gets will be a big indicator of where he stands in organization's eyes.
  12. There are anti-maskers in just about every place, so can't really single out anyone in particular. This shouldn't be surprising because there are self-centered a-holes in just about every place. Usually these people's actions only touch those who are close to them, family, friends etc. But now their actions have life-and-death, societal consequences, that's more power than most of them have had in a lifetime. Why wouldn't they revel in their new found ability to get attention from a wider audience? I wish people would stop filming/covering them, just cordon them off and ignore them, don''t put them in the news and don't share/proliferate their twisted beliefs.
  13. Children are less at risk of serious health complications due to COVID but as far as I know they aren't immune to contracting the virus or spreading it.
  14. You should totally hold a protest, here is what I expect it will look like... You (+mask)----6 feet----> 'plandemic' crowd (no masks)
  15. You can never tell someone who they are, they just have to figure that out for themselves. Give her a gift that is a cosmetic product that isn't dirt cheap that you know she has used or will use and tell her how you feel. You can express to her the way you see her but don't expect her to change her opinion of herself based on your perspective. The things we say to ourselves, we reinforce over and over consciously and subconsciously over the period of months and years. That isn't going away with a single 'talk' so be patient.
  16. One of my future goals is beating out VC in making the Marc-Andre Gragnani retirement thread.
  17. I don't disagree with you, I think he should have been cut and probably would have been if not for Riley Cooper. Based on that I understand the reasoning of the organization, they got caught in a rock and a hard place. Times may have changed since then but people would have still blamed it on bias especially with the owner's background. The NFL will probably always be a majority black league, no owner wants that kind of stigma. Also I am not sure I agree with someone getting fired for their spouse's thoughts.
  18. Eagles were in a tough spot especially after Riley Cooper, they set a terrible precedent there. Most of the team is black, owner has Jewish roots, from an optics perspective it would have not have been good. I think based on all those factors they made the right decision, as cutting him I believe would have led to some turmoil.
  19. Off the top of my head no. Maybe @mll probably has a name or two.
  20. One of the reasons Marleau commanded a 1st was that the Canes had to buyout the contract. The Bruins traded a 1st along with Backes (had 2 years left like Eriksson) and a C grade prospect in Andersson to get back Kase. Now I am not the biggest fan of Kase, there are concerns with his durability and there are question marks if he can survive the grind of the post-season. I suspect the Ducks don't see enough value in Kase at 2.6M AAV, while the Bruins are betting on him outperforming his price tag. I think that is probably the best we can expect, a 1st + Eriksson and get back a bit of a compromised asset in Kase.
  21. So you are telling me that Yeezy was right?!?! Vaccines are the 'mark of the beast'!
  22. Your assumption would be wrong, the chief amateur scout's job is critical especially on bad teams with low talent base, when the focus is on drafting as the determining factor separating success from failure. The NHL does a good job hyping and selling hope with the draft, which is why every fan base after every draft is crowing about the potential steals that their team picked. There are passionate fans in every fan base, Florida has like 5 of them but they are diehards as well. We aren't unique in that sense.
