  1. Too much money in top flight football. With their massive TV deals there is little incentive to grow young players rather than settle for some mediocre overseas talent. Combine that with the dysfunction of the FA and you are left with such results. No one should be surprised by what happened and no one should expect any meaningful changes. Maybe the next manager may not be as inept as Hodgson but it doesn't change the fact that the talent pool is mediocre.
  2. I am on android as well. I highlight the text in the quote then tap the top part of the quote like where it says "5 hours ago, Stealth said:" Then I use cut (scissor icon). Works pretty seamlessly for me. No idea if it will work for other people though or whether I am even explaining it properly. @fwybwed
  3. The Oilers draft so far looks really impressive.

      Jaku

Chiarelli has done a great job in this years draft, and landing Puljujarvi is huge. Him and McDavid are going to be scary together. It will be interesting to see who gets moved for a D-man though. St Louis was asking for Eberle or Hall as part of the deal for Shattenkirk.

  4. Sorry, it's late and I am really buzzed.
  5. LHD. I wish he was RHD.

  7. The only negativity towards you comes from your persistent attempts to police these forums. I want to see it bumped to 5 a day. I agree on the positive rep, so far I have only used them up to limit once. On most days I don't think I even hit 5. Agreed though we really need to see it in action when the limit is higher. I think it can be used for more than just abuse of the rules. If someone posted something unbelievably stupid they deserve to get the minus.
  8. I am on the prowl for posts to minus

  10. Lauzon, Juulsen and Chabot will likely be locks as they were in the mix last year for a spot. After that I think Phillips Myers gets a spot, he has had a stellar year. The rest of them will likely fight for the other spots. It's going to be tough for Breeze but you never know. I don't seem him making it but I hope he can at least make it tough on the selectors.

Wasn't me that made it. A poster on HF made it and I found it amusing. You should check on the rest, the link is in the bottom right corner. It's a bit hit or miss, some of them are great others not so much. I personally enjoyed the Game of Thrones one.

If anything the 2015 draft looks special.
  14. I haven't followed football for a while now... Stumbled into this thread and read this post. Googled Hummels transfer and I am shocked. Never saw this coming. With Gotze and Lewa I wasn't too surprised but this... Man I hate Bayern....
  15. Took himself out and went through concussion protocol so it seems somewhat serious.
  16. The Golden State vs OKC matchup was like the Hawks Kings matchups in recent history.

    It was the real "Finals".

  17. If the Raptors somehow manage to beat all odds and win this series, it will be hilarious to see the basketball world eat crow.

I won't deny that I had also written them off but I am not a professional in the sport and there are a lot of them that were saying that the Raptors wouldn't even win a game.

Imagine a Raptors Thunder finals, they would actually have home court advantage.

This is the American (mostly) media that you're talking about, they won't eat crow, they'll just say Cleveland absolutely collapsed and give TO little to no credit.

I wrote the Raps off as soon as they won Game 7 against Miami and what do you know? It comes down to a best of 3.

  18. We have been too spoiled by success lately but people forget how easily things can change.

Canada is also one behind the Russians for goal medals at WHC I believe. So yes this tournament does matter.

There is no reason to root against your country, ever... I never see other countries fans doing the same.

I would cheer for Team Canada even if guys like Chris Simon, Dan Carcillo, Matt Cooke and Sean Avery played on the team.

That being said, I wouldn't shed a tear if an opponent ended Marchand's career while he was disgracing our country's uniform.

I never cheer against the US, per se, but I do often cheer for other nations in its place.

  20. I don't think anyone can deny that the most cringe worthy part of the books was Sam's fat pink mast.
  21. Dany has had to do a lot of growing up very quickly and she has no one there to teach her and guide her on how to rule. No one there to advise her on the right course to take. Mormont and Selmy have basically been playing the role as her "Hand" and let's face it they are terrible at it. Selmy himself in ADWD admits how terribly out of his depth he is. She desperately needs someone like Tyrion there just as Aerys needed Tywin. She is naive in her belief that she can save everyone. She saves Eroeh from rape, only for the girl to be captured and raped. She frees Astapor from the slavers and they too end up dead after she leaves them to govern themselves. She saves thousands of slaves and instead of their lives improving, they die in droves due to sickness.
  22. Olly needs to come back as a whitewalker only to get his head chopped off by Jon with Longclaw.

    #&^@#Olly

  23. The passages from the books that make me want to pull my hair out. In the granaries were oats and wheat and barley, and barrels of coarse ground flour. In the root cellars strings of onions and garlic dangled from the rafters, and bags of carrots, parsnips, radishes, and white and yellow turnips filled the shelves. One storeroom held wheels of cheese so large it took two men to move them. In the next, casks of salt beef, salt pork, salt mutton, and salt cod were stacked ten feet high. Three hundred hams and three thousand long black sausages hung from ceiling beams below the smokehouse. In the spice locker they found peppercorns, cloves, and cinnamon, mustard seeds, coriander, sage and clary sage and parsley, blocks of salt. Elsewhere were casks of apples and pears, dried peas, dried figs, bags of walnuts, bags of chestnuts, bags of almonds, planks of dry smoked salmon, clay jars packed with olives in oil and sealed with wax. One storeroom offered potted hare, haunch of deer in honey, pickled cabbage, pickled beets, pickled onions, pickled eggs, and pickled herring.(Jon, ADWD) Dusk found them on the fringes of the rainwood, a wet green world where brooks and rivers ran through dark forests and the ground was made of mud and rotting leaves. Huge willows grew along the watercourses, larger than any that Arianne had ever seen, their great trunks as gnarled and twisted as an old man’s face and festooned with beards of silvery moss. Trees pressed close on every side, shutting out the sun; hemlock and red cedars, white oaks, soldier pines that stood as tall and straight as towers, colossal sentinels, big-leaf maples, redwoods, wormtrees, even here and there a wild weirwood. Underneath their tangled branches ferns and flowers grew in profusion; sword ferns, lady ferns, bellflowers and piper’s lace, evening stars and poison kisses, liverwort, lungwort, hornwort. Mushrooms sprouted down amongst the tree roots, and from their trunks as well, pale spotted hands that caught the rain. Other trees were furred with moss, green or grey or red-tailed, and once a vivid purple. Lichens covered every rock and stone. Toadstools festered besides rotting logs. The very air seemed green. (Arianne, WOW) The &^@# did I need to know all that $&!#, George...
