Laine's shot on the PP.

He is going to be a 40-50 goal scorer in the NHL.

Ever since the Canucks complained to Friedman about his "30 thoughts", he seems to have a vendetta against this franchise.
Get over it Eliotte.

It happened a while back so I don't recall the details anymore. I think it might have been before the deadline. There was a discussion about it on HF but it wasn't really talked about here. Since then Friedman has been negative about the Canucks. I will try and find the details since you are curious.
-
So apparently Friedman made a comment on TV that every time he mentioned the Canucks his phone blew up. Apparently Trev has made a few (possibly angry) calls.
Since then Friedman has made quite a few snide comments about the management. If you are on HF you go to search type "Friedman" and select the Canucks forum. Then select display search results as "posts" instead of threads. You can then read all about what he has said about the Canucks.
Fair warning though it is HF so you will see quite a bit of Benning and Linden bashing.

This is the most indifferent I have felt about the playoffs in a long time. No one to cheer for, no one to really root against.

It makes no sense to me why CBS would cancel a show like Person of Interest. None of their new shows that I have seen like Code Black and Limitless come close.

@ItsMillerTime I like the show as well but IMO POI still outclasses it in terms of quality.
That makes more sense Wash. Such a shame. The first episode of the new season was amazing. I am going to miss the show when it ends.

Leicester City's premier league title is probably the greatest sporting achievement of the 21st century.

I will never understand superstition. Maybe I am just not narcissistic enough to believe that my actions, words or thoughts have any effect on the outcome of a random event. There is literally no evidence that whatever one us might be doing has any influence on a completely unrelated outcome.
In any case I have noticed that the "superstition crowd" will criticise you for both positive and negative thoughts. If you claim that a positive outcome will occur then you are "jinxing" your team. If you are predicting a negative outcome your pessimism will cause your team to lose.

I don't think it's narcissistic at all. Some people are just superstitious and they're that way for a variety of reasons. Lots of athletes have superstitions and I believe it's more to do with their own comfort and self-confidence than anything. Playing baseball, I couldn't step in to the box for a pitch without licking my finger tips on my index and middle fingers on my left hand. Felt weird if I didn't.
Nothin' wrong with superstition.
-
I didn't mean to be overly critical. I do get that athletes have their rituals and if it gives them comfort and confidence all the more power to them.
I just have a problem when people force their superstitions on others. Like you aren't supposed to mention the word shutout or no-hitter as there is sense you will "jinx" the moment.
I guess I didn't really have a problem with such stuff when I used to actively participate in it but eventually I just lost faith in all this. Now when I am watching a game with friends I am almost tempted to yell shutout just to annoy them lol.
-
I can see how it would seem a little weird from an objective point of view, but those superstitions (like no mentioning a shutout/no-hitter) have become entrenched in the cultures of their respective sports and so those who are fans of the sports tend to get into it as well- especially fans who played the sport. As you mentioned I think a person's belief in those superstitions may fade over time as well, even more so if they're removed from the sport. As a fan I have no problem with mentioning the word shutout (not in a GDT for fear of being roasted though) but if I were a player on the team I definitely wouldn't mention it.

Expansion draft protection list for the Columbus Blue Jackets will include Hartnell, Foligno, Dubinsky and the real kicker David &^@#ing Clarkson.

After 13 years of being on different forums on the internet, this is the first time I have ever felt the need to use the ignore function.
After 7 years here I can honestly say this is the most annoying troll that CDC has ever had. It's not just trolling but it's the spaming of every single thread on this forum.
Now I just wish people would stop quoting this poster.
