If we are to believe this projection to be accurate then the team would be smart to start now to prepare for our first 2 games of the season. For the Canucks to have any chance at the playoffs we have to have an average of no less than .500 versus Pacific division competitors. Start with the Oil, hit to hurt and don't concede anything.

McDick make sense, why would anyone commit 3 years out when the time comes he can essentially pick and choose where he wants to play and for how much.
As an aside, I always chuckle when people couch their comments by saying things like "kind of" see where our lives are, and "kind of" go from there.

If he makes the Oilers that makes me think they are not as good as some may believe.

Otherwise known as corporate nepotism.

$15 million 8 year extension incoming?
I'd be surprised if the annual salary was that low.

Didn't the Canucks play in a game seven in each of the years ('82, '94 and '11) we were in the Stanley Cup Finals?

IMO the NHL in general struggles to introduce new blood to television coverage, not to mention management at the team and league level. Think about it, do you have to be an ex-player in order to provide intelligent commentary on our game? In terms of "conflict of interest" pro-hockey is certainly not exempt to this reality, and don't get me started about nepotism.

Interesting when looking at the players that have gone unsigned so far.
Foote, Comtois, and Gadjovich. Could very well be that these guys just aren’t in demand but you gotta think at this point teams would be given a heads up if any of these guys were involved.
I thought it was strange that Foote was let go by Nashville considering where they’re at. I hope he wasn’t involved. Last thing we need is more distractions involving one of our coaches and his son.
I agree, one can only wonder why some of these players have not yet received contract offers.
It is way past time this issue is dealt with by Hockey Canada. It is also time the NHL took a stance and set standards or a basic code of conduct for their players and publicize same inclusive of penalties.

Can't sign for 400k which is their cap space currently, I'm curious how they're supposed to do this
Apparently teams can exceed the cap during the summer months prior to the start of a new season.

The Oilers over-valued Yamo when they drafted him in the first round and then over-paid him with a multi million dollar contract. Good luck to him he is a great kid.

We can only hope the Canucks pro-scouts are all over the free-agent player market and target the best possible options for us at center and defense. Hope is the keyword.
-
Hope he only spends a couple of years in college and then transitions straight to the NHL.

Toews is done, he's spent. his playing days are over but no one has told him yet.

Holy crap! Come on fans. If Looch is on our club he plays with Petey 5 on 5. No reason to have him otherwise. He’s not a grunt. He’s a bodyguard. Big difference.
Now kneel to Alf.Stop it Alf. Looch is done. Whatever you imagine he brings to the game it is vastly surpassed by his skating ability or lack thereof. His value is grossly over-rated.

I'd do Denko for McDick straight up.

The playoffs just goes to prove the value of the depth and quality of your bottom six and defense.

The Knights would be smart not to ignore Kane all together. Essentially force him to insert himself into the game by intentionally engaging the Knights. The result should be that Kane may be more prone to take an instigator penalty. And when Kane is in the penalty box this is the time to especially ignore him. Kane can easily be his own worst enemy if you have patience and give him the space to do so. He has proven to be a loser so let him be.
-
The Knights need to punish the Oil if they expect to win the series. Focus on McDick and Drai, shadow them and make them pay a price every time they touch the puck.

Attitude is a critical success factor and in my opinion Petey is the better person and player.

His next contract will be in the double digits and you can take that to the bank.

Given the ownership changes in Pittsburgh maybe a Miller trade to the Pens is not out of the question.

I would like to know how many draft picks we currently have this year. I'm thinking our own first, 2 third rounders and 3 fourths, plus one fifth and a sixth.

This will effectively keep teams like the Oilers from trading for Jensen because they will not be able to afford his new salary.

Depth (not everyday defensemen) and fourth liners who can play are sometimes difference makers for a team in a long season.
