  1. I never said that you were, Aladeen did...
  2. Should I claim sheriff again and MVP it for the city?

  4. Not at full salary + a sweetener attached with salary coming back. AKA it's unmovable.
  5. Lol Vegas would move Fleury at the drop of a hat if the opportunity were there. Foley only said that because it's about saving face on him approving a contract that's now unmovable.
  6. No. He might have an eye for talent but his tenure has proven he doesn't know what to do with his talent. It certainly doesn't help that he has the biggest clown ever in John Weisbrod as his AGM. It's a shame; Benning is a super likeable guy, loves hockey, etc but his skillset is best suited to being a director of scouting and not a lead in a front office. The sooner Jim and John go, the sooner we might become a steadier team.
  7. Of course it does. Look at Lucic, Ladd, Okposo, M. Richards, B. Richards, countless examples. A lot of great players fall apart once they hit 30 if they're not always healthy and durable. Not everybody can be Matt Cullen or Chris Chelios and play until they're 150.
  8. Injuries, age caught up with him. Simple as.
  9. Loui in 2020 is washed, not lazy. Loui was the best two-way winger after Marian Hossa for many years. It's a shame that age and injuries caught up to him quickly. Come for King Loui, you best not miss.
  10. If Chicago wanted a goalie, they would have kept Crawy Coreford. Trust me...
  11. If Chicago wanted a goalie, they could have signed like 5-6 guys during free-agency. Why they would address this need by trading Duncan Keith who - yeah, he's washed but still serviceable in the right scenarios - for a guy who won't ever recover from the sword wound given to him by Pietro DeBoer? C'mon OP...
  12. Why don't we throw in Jack Hughes coming our way while we're at it since we're already giving them Jack $&!# for P.K Subban.
  13. The laziest player on the team playing defence
  14. Cute idea but we have an internal cap for this season.
  15. I must have really struck a nerve with this thread if you have to come out and write all this. Anyways, Benning and his team did a really great job in this instance. They replaced Tanev with a superior d-man and it was worth sacrificing Toffoli and Stetcher to finance this move. Make no mistake, however, this deal doesn't happen if VGK doesn't get an even better player In Pietrangelo, and if I really want to nitpick, the price for dumping d-men was a 5th (see Murray, Gudbranson), not a 3rd. Nevertheless, this is a shrewd move to wait out the market and pounce when a team HAD to move cap. Let's hope this is the start of something new with this management group and not a once-in-a-blue moon type of thing.
  16. This is a solid move. A big upgrade on Tanev and worth losing Toffoli and Stetcher to finance cap-wise. Hopefully more shrewd moves like this in the future.
  17. I was talking about the positive vs negative moves and his use of the term "outnumber". I wasn't talking about the entirety of the post.
  18. This is well-stated. I would also agree that outnumber rather outweigh is a good term to use when talking about Benning's positive to negative moves.
  19. Except I'm more than happy to hear people come in and say "Actually, Alain Vigneault, I disagree that we should fire Benning and here's why..." Nobody does that. They just whine by saying "oh, it's another Benning thread" or "oh, knee-jerk szn" or some other mindless dribble, much like you're doing. So, on this topic, why do you personally believe Benning should stay? What does Jim Benning offer the Canucks that other potential GMs, be it experienced hockey guys, young up-and-comers, analytics gurus, etc don't/can't offer the Canucks? I offered Chris Gear's name because he's rumoured to have an active hand in re-signings and internal negotiations. If this is the truth, I think he's done well in getting players like Edler, MacEwan, Demko, Motte, etc to come back at team friendly deals while also maintaining judgment to know when to walk away from certain free-agents. Of course, re-signing is a team affair so we shouldn't give him all the credit, much less remove any credit from Jim Benning, but I feel like somebody like Gear with more responsibility and more power can be a better overall manager of the cap, something the Benning regime hasn't been in the six or so years they've been here. Please engage in discussion now and stop derailing.
  20. And Pettersson was a 5 pick, Hughes a 7 pick. You can't bring Pettersson/Hughes up as the barometer for Hedman/Stamkos and then dismiss Virtanen/Juolevi because they weren't 1 and 2 when the guys you're citing were also not 1 and 2.
  21. I'm pretty sure my "agenda" was on full force when I titled the thread "Moving on from Jim Benning" Also, I don't know why you keeping going on with this idea that I'm trying to mask discussion when I started this discussion by clarifying my position in the first place.
