  1. Dallas will temporarily release Tim Thomas and Sergei Zubov. This is goodbye for now. Dallas will permanently release Darryl Sydor, Kevyn Adams, Richard Matvichuk, and Jay Pandolfo. This is goodbye forever.
  2. Tonight, on the night of the trade deadline, Dallas completed three trades. First, we acquired veteran center John Madden from the Toronto Maple Leafs in exchange for our second round selection in this year's draft. John had been a long-time target of ours due to his effective two-way play and we were happy to get a deal done. We have prided ourselves on being a strong defensive team and adding a player of John's calibre should strengthen us. Shortly after, we made a deal to acquire Jay Pandolfo and Kyle Brodziak from the Phoenix Coyotes in exchange for our third round selection in this year's draft. Once more, this move was about securing the services of an effective defensive presence to improve our bottom six. Jay will be reunited with John which should make that line a very tough line to play against. Kyle, while still out with a season-ending injury, should be good to go for next season as a center option for our bottom six. Finally, we topped off our business by acquiring Jason Blake from the New York Rangers in exchange for Trent Hunter and prospect Colton Teubert. While Jason is not the winger he once was, we feel that he can still provide a bit of scoring and reliable two-way play to help our team out. To ensure that we are compliant with the salary cap after our transactions, we have sent down Angelo Esposito to Iowa and have waived Kevyn Adams, with intentions to assign him to Iowa. While Angelo had performed admirably in his short time with us, we felt that more time in the AHL would help round his game in the long-term. We'd like to thank @Monty, @Zfetch, and @Jaku for providing quick and easy negotiations throughout the day.

  6. Best of luck to Tim Thomas, Sergei Zubov, Loui Eriksson, and Jere Lehtinen.

  8. Today, the Dallas Stars acquired forward Trent Hunter in exchange for forward Jesse Schultz. Although, our team has had trouble scoring, we felt it was necessary to add a winger that could take care of his own end and strengthen our bottom-six in hopes that stronger defence can outlast offensive teams. Welcome Trent

  20. Going into the 2009 NHL off-season, the Dallas Stars were tasked re-shaping their team. After a poor season, which featured a goaltending saga and a bottom five finish, the changes needed were always going to be massive. The Draft: At the draft, Dallas selected six times. They used their picks to select Tanner Johnson (9.0C), Ryan O'Reilly (8.5D), Braydon McNabb (8.0D), Jeremy Maurice (8.0D), Jac Fisher (7.0F), and Steven Anthony (6.5D). Unlike other years, Dallas was not a factor on the trade front, although the team did trade Enver Lisin to Tampa Bay for a third round selection in the 2010 draft. Free-Agency: The busiest part of the off-season for Dallas came in the free-agency. Dallas set out to improve their depth, shore up their defence, and replace the goaltending of Marty Turco. On the first day of free-agency, Dallas signed veterans Andy McDonald and Jaroslav Spacek. Dallas was ecstatic to land these targets as they had previously had major success on their past organizations. Additionally, through trade, Dallas acquired forward Antoine Vermette from the Ottawa Senators in exchange for prospects Jaromir Kriz and Tyler Cuma and Tampa Bay's third round selection in 2010. On the second day of free-agency, Dallas was relatively quiet. While they pondered deals for other players, they ultimately settled on simply offering veteran center Kevyn Adams a contract, which he accepted. On the final day of free-agency, Dallas capped things off by signing former Boston starter Tim Thomas, as well as forward Jesse Schultz. The Season: *Bold denotes new acquisition* Dallas goes into the 2009/2010 season looking like this: Brendan Morrow - Mike Ribeiro - Loui Eriksson James Neal - Andy McDonald - Jesse Schultz Jere Lehtinen - Jason Arnott - Antoine Vermette Steve Ott - Kevyn Adams - Jon Sim Darryl Sydor - Sergei Zubov Trevor Daley - Stephane Robidas Jaroslav Spacek - Matt Niskanen Tim Thomas Hannu Toivonen On paper, the team appears to be deeper and more balanced than they were just a season ago. The team has added more scoring to their ranks, have added sound defensive-minded players, and goaltending shouldn't be too far off to where it once was with Marty Turco. Of course, many teams have also strengthened their sqauds so it may be hard to predict how or where our teams ends up. One thing is certain, this line-up will be supplemented by the integration of many young players such as Tom Wandell, Rusland Bashkirov, Angelo Esposito, and Stefan Legein during the season.
  21. Still working out some fine details. When I've decided on the final set-up, I'll tos a new thread
  22. I'm aiming for May 10th/11th ( I want to give this a rest for a good 10-14 days. I want people to re-charge and be ready to go.
  23. This is one of those rare instances where "we'll laugh about this in five years" actually came true.
