Top 10 Moments of Trade Deadline 2007 10. Cute move in Washington GM @Spoderman made a cute move to help his team make a strong and sustained push towards the playoffs by adding veteran Vyacheslav "Slava" Kozlov from the Atlanta Thrashers. 9. Veterans find new homes Keith Tkachuk, Doug Weight, Eric Lindros, Rob Blake, Alex Kovalev, Bill Guerin, and Ville Peltonen, among other players, all found themselves in new places on trade deadline day. 8. Phoenix shows up It's been a rather quiet season in Phoenix but to say they participated in the trade deadline madness is an understatement. GM @Zfetch arrived in the final two hours to make a series of moves with Tampa Bay alone (more on them later) that caused a splash, let alone the other teams he made deals with, in order to re-shape his team. Phoenix put itself on the map in a big way. 7. Islanders put opening touches in place for a banter line The New York Islanders, who have been near or at the bottom for all of the season, made a bizarre move to acquire Ladislav Nagy. However, with the top prospect Patrick Kane being a draft possibility for this team, it starts to make a bit more sense as to why the Islanders would want a Patrick Kane - Nagy pairing. Who knew GM @Time Lord had such a sense of humour for banter. @Patrick Kane 6. Quiet GMs emerge from the shadows If you feel like you forgot Minnesota or Edmonton existed in the NHL, well, you were sure to hear about them at this trade deadline. GM @falcon45ca made two big moves, bringing in veteran Ville Peltonen and youngster Ryan Whitney for a series of players and picks. In Minnesota, GM @OurTimeToShine added a top 4 defenceman and a top 6 forward when he added Michael Ryder and Derek Morris from a trade with Phoenix. These were the last two GMs to make a move with their team...or were they? 5. Jon Sim to New Jersey collapses No, there are two GMs who have yet to add or subtract anybody from their roster and one of them is GM @winterhawks. This looked to have changed as a last minute move to acquire Jon Sim was submitted to the Central Registry. However, upon registration, GM @Blue Jay 22 rejected the proposal. "It was nothing personal. He [winterhawks] thought we had an agreement but we didn't". 4. St. Louis adds three 1st round picks, now owns 1/6 of the 2008 first round St. Louis has been an interesting team all season. They have been active but haven't had all the attention that other teams have garnered. And even yesterday, when they made a series of moves to trade out veterans from their team, not much was made of it. But after all the madness, the team now owns five first round picks. Here to give them the attention they deserve for quietly putting together a strong basis for a rebuild, the spotlight should be on GM @canucklax for doing a savvy job to reap the rewards for his assets. 3. Florida becomes most diverse team in the NHL While Florida made most of their big business earlier in the season, they still participated in a lot of the fun on deadline day. They acquired many players with different unique flags, such as Russian Fedotenko, Vladimir Orszagh, and Patrick Thoresen. The NHL is a tough business on trade deadline day so it's great to see a GM like @Baer. putting emphasis on bringing players from different backgrounds together during this chaotic time. 2. Tampa Bay makes 7 trades, moves 20 assets in total. Enough said. Jason Blake barely had time to unpack. A grand performance from GM @Kurisu 1. Death of a manager While he had spent most of his time on Discord antagonizing other GMs, it was an act of kindness that saw the downfall of a certain GM. When GM @kj29 was being verbally assaulted from fellows GMs, including commissioner @Nail, it was GM @Carlutch98 that came to his rescue by trying to halt the assault, a rare occurrence of the highest order. In a matter of seconds, he was kicked from the Discord. When trying to re-add him back, it failed as the Discord policy is: once you're gone, you're gone. Attempts have been made to figure a way to bring him but they do not look hopeful. RIP.

Yesterday, the Dallas Stars made a series of transactions on trade deadline day. First, we acquired defenceman Christian Backman from the St. Louis Blues in exchange for our 2nd round pick in this year's draft. We recognize that our blue-line is one of the oldest sets of players in the league and felt that bringing in a defenceman who is in his mid-20s and signed through next year would be beneficial for us as we plan to re-shape aspects of our team in the coming off-season. The second move we made was to send veteran Eric Lindros to the Calgary Flames in exchange for forward Eric Nystrom. We felt the need to move Eric Lindros due to his status in league and wanting to give him a better chance at winning the Stanley Cup. Our rationale for bringing in Eric Nystrom is because of his age and his of skill-set to play in the bottom-six going into next season. Unfortunately, due to roster compliance matters, Eric will have to report to Iowa for the remainder of this season. Finally, we acquired Bryan Smolinski from the Los Angeles Kings in exchange for Matthew Barnaby. We brought back Matthew with intentions for him to make our bottom-six tougher to play against. However, this did not work out as planned. When the opportunity to add a veteran scorer like Bryan became available, we decided to make this move. Bryan will help to replace some of the offence that Eric Lindros brought. In sum, the Dallas Stars brought in two players who will feature more prominently in our team next season, while adding a veteran scorer to help now. A special thanks to @canucklax @Carlutch98 and @Sane33 for their patience in negotiations.

Dallas sends down Eric Nystrom to Iowa.

I believe that's all the deals (a bit of a hold-up at Central Registry) which now concludes this year's deadline. All teams should have a look at their sheet and make sure they are cap/roster compliant.
