  1. Again, to demonstrate how bad Benning was. Benning will go down as a Milbury tier GM.
  2. Hmm.. Botteril was kind of trash as a GM but his best work (and part of why Pittsburgh was successful) came when he was one of the AGMs under JR. I'm fairly indifferent to that if it happens.
  3. I see the confusion on your end. I should have prefaced my statement with the word "probably" since you're choosing to read into the statement verbatim.
  4. As opposed to whatever Benning would have done...toss a 1st for a rental to try and make playoffs and save his job? The bar is extremely low here. I doubt Rutherford falls below that bar.
  5. Rutherford apprehensions are fine, but he's far, far clear of Benning. Like, night and day better. That's how bad Benning was lol.
  6. Anyways, let's hope his experience comes in handy. We tried the "rookie" route with Desjardins/Green and Benning, and maybe turning to some veterans in Boudreau/Rutherford is exactly what's needed.
  7. https://thehockeywriters.com/penguins-rutherford-poor-decision-making-effects/ Exactly who we want at the helm, huh
  8. Out with the old...in with the older. Can't say this is a good start to this "new" era.
  9. I didn't say he was responsible with the picks. I just said that he didn't mortgage the future by trading picks and prospects. We all know he sucked at drafting, but he was quite good at asset management.
  10. Stupendous news if Gillis/Gilman/both get brought back. We might be a serious club if this happens.
  11. How exactly did Gillis mortgage the future? We could count on one hand the amount of picks/prospects he traded in his tenure. Pretty sure Benning traded that amount of picks in his first season alone.
  12. See, therein lies the problem. Anybody (which, let's be realistic, was more like everybody in the hockey world at the end of it all) who criticized this regime (and rightfully so) is deemed as "toxic". Maybe, just maybe, they aren't the ones who need to take a look in the mirror. What exactly over the past eight years were Canucks fans supposed to be content with? Drafting in the top 5 constantly (and flubbing some of those picks)? Winning 25 or so games out of an 82 game season every year? If you told a fanbase that in an 8 year period, they would be bottom-five for the majority of it but would only have a few players to show for and one flukey playoff run, do you honestly think that fanbase would accept it? Hell yes do the spoils go to the victors in this. The ones that had to endure losing and support a team that constantly made itself the joke of the NHL, all the while having to be told that their justified complaints and criticism were unfounded, or that they were secretly Leafs/Flames/Kraken fans, etc. The toxic ones were never the "haters". Rather, it was the group of people who tried to silence any criticism and police discussions so as to protect the GM and the rest of management all under this guise of "real fandom" and toxic positivity. This board has never been more united after cleaning house and here you are trying to do damage control and invalidate those who valiantly stuck by their positions and were proven correct in the end. Come on now...
  13. Lol. Users who have had accounts since 2006, 2007, and 2009 are being called out by a user who joined in 2020. What a trolling effort! Since the Nonis days!
  14. In the end, I was right. As expected. Hope this helps.
  15. Well, the coach might be fine. Same can't be said for this user..
  16. Can always count on Sidney Crosby to do a madness in Vancouver/Rogers Arena

    Thank you, Sid.

  17. Memes aside, I do appreciate the effort put in. The product was horrendous, but it wasn't for a lack of trying, nor was it to apathy. I think a role back in scouting somewhere would be best for Mr. Benning.
