It's worth a shot, whatever that looks like. Similar pressure to what happened with Hockey Canada should be applied. Yes, it's absolutely a complex issue but it's still worth trying to make better. Read the bit about the judge, it's disappointing. Hockey culture is gross, and I know it's not just hockey culture but that's what the article was about and that's what I'm talking about. I hope we progress is made somehow, nobody should have to suffer like that. Obviously it'd be better if this behavior didn't take place in general, but progress needs to be made on many fronts.

And in a best case scenario it'd be resolved asap, we'll see how it goes. If he is traded I'd be surprised if he wasn't granted some sort of leave though, and there's no way the Canucks won't have made teams aware of his unique scenario. They'll want it handled as smoothly as possible. We'll see.

Hence him being granted leave. Just because he's traded doesn't mean he has to immediately join the team. Particularly if it's a team like Boston who's long had a playoff spot sewn up. That's part of what I mean by accommodating.

Perhaps, but if he plans on coming back to Vancouver anyway it makes sense that she'd stay settled. Or at least travel once she's recouped enough. Also puts pressure on the Canucks to pull the trigger while she can travel if that's the idea. We'll see, but I reckon whichever team trades for him would accommodate him as much as possible.

Bottom line is it needs to be dragged into the light by reporters like this guy and Westhead. But not just them, by others who know about this sort of ongoing stuff. This clearly isn't okay. But when the news breaks we as a society need to apply pressure however we can, this sort of stuff can't just be allowed to fizzle out and go away. Let there be a national inquiry or something. Part of breaking down stigmas involves talking about things, I'm thankful for the brave individuals who've spoken up because experiencing that kind of abuse is absolutely traumatizing and their speaking up shouldn't be taken lightly. I hope things can change even somewhat for the better, nobody should have to experience treatment like this. Silence only benefits the abusers and those who enable them.

I wasn't really sure what to titled this as I'm admittedly a bit affected by what I just read. If someone else has a more appropriate title for this thread I'm open to altering the title.
