  1. His next one will be even more pricy, great deal for Matthews.
  2. They'll be signed for dirt cheap just like Raddysh
  3. Thing is, we have nobody remotely capable of filling his spot if he goes. Even if he drops back down to 85-90 points he has management by the balls. If youve gotta pay anyone it may as well be a mid-20's 1C. Pettersson will get his somewhere, so will Hughes when his deal is up. 10 or less was always a pipe dream imo, 11 is more realistic, and at that point what's another 1M. Especially if Matthews raises the bar with his next deal, which is very possible.
  4. Hoping for more of this, it's a strong offering
  5. He's a good placeholder, it's not like Bruins have a wealth of prospects pushing for spots
  6. Makes sense, it benefits Pettersson to wait. And really, even if Pettersson doesn't break 100 points this coming season he's still got management by the balls, how do they build this thing without him going forward if the idea is to compete? We have nobody in system who can replace what Pettersson does for the Canucks.
  7. Agreed, I figured the Habs would get more than they got. Not a bad move by Detroit either, if it turns out they're out of it they could theoretically just flip him. As the acquiring team wouldn't Detroit be able to decide whether to honor his clauses or not?
  8. I'm not saying Foote is the devil but if the shoe fits?
  9. Classic Arizona, watch him be fed premium offensive minutes to boost his value
  10. May as well, it's gonna be quite the rebuild post-Crosby/Malkin/Letang. It may also end up being a reasonable price, I question how many teams are lining up and prepared to work out the moving parts needed to acquire Karlsson. It's also in San Jose's best interest to move him, he helps keep them competitive and they need to rebuild. He's wasted positive value given where they're at in their competitive cycle, makes sense to capitalize on his historic season, the assets and whatever cap space they can save are more beneficial to them at this point.
  11. Seems like it could age pretty poorly, but I guess all Washington really has to go for at this point is feeding Ovi goals. They're probably looking at what should be a rising cap and are like "well, f*ck it, we're rebuilding/retooling and we got our cup out of this core.".
  12. Pretty much, different strokes and all that. It's one thing to have concerns as to whether a player will stay with a Canadian team, another when a UFA doesn't want to play for Canadian teams. Some folks want the spotlight, some want the spotlight but also the relative anonymity you'd get in somewhere like New York, others just want to be able to disappear and live their lives when they're not playing games. Some folks are just more private, don't want to be bothered, or don't want the distractions that come with playing in a hockey hub, it is what it is. Could be all sorts of reasons, doesn't have to be x is bad because no Canada.
