  1. Unfortunately I also chalk that up to management having made up their mind on Miller, Miller was also a different animal. If you look at Miller's first couple seasons as a Canuck he'd hovered closer to a point per game and that was the first time his entire career that he'd shown the ability to do that. He'd shown that he could put up top six level offense his last couple years in New York and during his time in Tampa but he hadn't been hovering around point per game. Then he blew up in his later 20's, it's not as if he was a MacKinnon hitting his stride and elevating his game, it looked more like a career season than Miller suddenly figuring something out. If the Canucks were asking for the kind of return a player who regularly puts up 90-100 points might get it's not a shocker that there probably weren't many interested parties, Miller didn't have the track record of consistently putting up that kind of offense. Guys like MacKinnon and Marner have that track record. JT's probably a point per game guy at best. That's not bad, but if the ask doesn't reflect that you'll probably have a tough time finding a taker. Bo is more of a Swiss army knife than Miller is and does everything Miller does better than Miller except for the offensive side of things and regularly providing a more physical game. But even then, if you look at their career numbers it's not as far off as folks make it out to be. Bo is two years younger and has 200 goals and 215 assists in 617 gams, most of this having been accomplished while being saddled with subpar wingers. Miller has 186 goals and 308 assists in 682 games. 415 points vs 494 with Miller having played 65 more games. Bo is a legitimate top 6 center who could slot in and fill multiple roles for any team who acquires him and who'd probably thrive playing with legit top six talent on a more talented roster, Miller is a top six winger who can win draws but who struggles with the defensive responsibility that comes with playing center. Management bought their own hype, thought we were further ahead than we were despite recognizing that Demko covered a lot of the rosters shortcomings.
  2. The hell are you going on about? That was a bad contract the moment it was signed, the identical contracts Toews and Kane signed were the beginning of the end for their cup aspirations. But hey, winning three cups, providing the intangibles you mock, putting up top six level offense, being the team's top center, and showing up come playoff time gets you paid. Nobody's arguing Bo should be making 10.5M, let alone 9M. Toews has put up top six level offense almost his entire career. https://www.hockeydb.com/ihdb/stats/pdisplay.php?pid=93829
  3. It's also telling how interested teams seem to keep crawling out of the woodwork regarding Bo, I don't recall so many teams being rumoured to be interested when the Miller speculation was at it's most intense. Doesn't shock me at all, some fans may not have been able to see his value here but clearly other teams do.
  4. Demko to Buffalo makes more sense. If they can find stability in net, beef up their D, and add some defensive minded players to their forward group they could probably be a playoff team sooner than later. Luukkonen may be pegged as the future but he's far from a sure thing.
  5. Horvat has to want to stay though and I don't reckon he does at this point. I doubt it's just about the money, he'd get the money from someone else somewhere else. I reckon it's also about winning, careers can end at any time and you only get so long to try and chase a cup, he sure as hell won't be doing that here any time soon. If Bo wants a cup, and I think he does, he'll have to go to a more competitive team. All he's done for the most part in Vancouver is lose, doesn't look like Vancouver will be winning more than losing any time soon.
  6. Dallas has some solid prospects and they were recently in a cup final, Benn and Seguin have actually been productive this season. Would make sense for them to try and add if they think they've got a shot at going all the way. They're certainly in the mix to go deep, they're having a great season.
  7. The fans aren't stupid, they need to realize this. This may be an overzealous hockey market but it sure as hell ain't an uninformed market.
  8. I will say that I'm happy they're just leaving Abbotsford alone, they've got a good thing going on over there. I don't care whether Colliton makes it back to the bigs or not but if he continues what he's done we'll see. We could have found so many other guys to be the placeholder though.
  9. I mean, even Phoenix/Arizona fans didn't like him and they're even more used to mediocrity than we are.
  10. If management hadn't drug Bruce through the dirt and Tocchet wasn't who he is maybe I'd do the same, but things are how they are. There are many other guys they could bring in if they wanted systems, they're not even bringing in a guy with a winning track record. He's going to be another placeholder as management tries to figure out what the hell they're doing regarding the roster and the direction going forward. Another Green in a sense.
  11. It's not how I'm gonna spend my money but I'd be down for a good jersey burning to post on social media
  12. Tocchet is a dead man walking coming in to fill the shoes of a dead man walking. If he really is the guy I will not be giving him a fair shake and I don't feel bad about that at all. Bringing him in of all coaches is stupid to begin with, we'd be better off waiting til closer to the offseason when there are more coaching candidates.
  13. Yeah, I wouldn't be buying a jersey any time soon as a Canucks fan Nobody seems safe right now, not even Pettersson or Hughes I don't see them going anywhere but honestly, either of them asking for a trade if things continue wouldn't shock me
  14. Shame Anaheim couldn't hold it together, they were tied going into the third But we were never likely to catch them I guess, at least this keeps Buffalo ahead of us Just need Arizona, Chicago, New York Isles, Montreal, San Jose, Ottawa, and Florida to get points One of Philly or Detroit has to win so that's helpful, hoping for a three point game We ain't catching Arizona or Chicago but I don't want either of them getting Bedard, the more they win the better
  15. It hurts the tank, for sure But at the same time there's no way they'd get away with shutting down a player if there wasn't truth to it Particularly with Caufield being a pending RFA, dude was on pace to hit 40-50+, that's money out of his pocket
  16. It's gotta be pretty neat for him to wear it, he'll probably hold on to one of those jerseys forever
  17. I'm still hoping for a loss but make it a close one boys, at least try. Show up. I'm fully expecting us to be lit up, moreso with Kane having come back. But hey, we're not going to lose them all and if we've gotta win this would be a game to do it. Guess we'll see.
  18. Would I forgive the bumbling management and ownership that's been behind the circus we've watched most of the past ten years? Or the circus we'll likely continue to watch? No. A cup doesn't erase things, nor does it make people forget. Winning a cup would be fantastic and I'd be thrilled but it wouldn't negate mediocrity or how much of a circus this organization has been. Would I gripe about it as much? No, but people don't forget.
  19. Yup, we were a good team then and it's no surprise players may have found it an appealing landing spot We're a circus now, the only players who'll really find us appealing sooner than later are those looking to land an NHL contract or those looking for ice time and opportunity
