  1. Also, does anyone really have faith in this managements ability to get one over Yzerman via trade?
  2. An interesting team to consider is Winnipeg. Dubois is having a fantastic year over there but he's also a pending RFA and it's anyone's guess as to whether he'll actually extend in Winnipeg long-term. Winnipeg is a legitimate force that could make some noise come playoff time, not being able to long down their top center this season could be devastating to their ability to compete going forward. Winnipeg's top players are all prime aged with the exception of Wheeler and they're built to try and contend sooner than later.
  3. Yeah, it doesn't make a whole lot of sense for them. He's their leading point getter from the back end during a sophomore slump from Seider and he's a top 4RD for them. Detroit is a team that would be looking to take a step forward with a Horvat acquisition, moving Hronek is just plugging one hole and opening another. Makes more sense that any Detroit move would feature more picks and prospects imo.
  4. Not Miller that's for sure. But honestly, just roll with three or four A's for two or three years and see who steps up. Odds are we'll be seeing quite a bit of roster turnover anyway. Who knows who'll be here and for how long at this point. Could very easily be someone who's not on the roster yet.
  5. It sucks, I'm disappointed in the choices management has made that have brought us to this point. I'd have signed him during the summer and prioritized him over Miller. I was arguing back in like September before the season had started that Bo at 7M would have absolutely been fair value, if not a good deal. Lot of folks fussed about it though, insisting that Horvat somehow shouldn't make more than Boeser. Made no damn sense. Bo's worn many hats for this club. He features on both special teams, is our most heavily leaned up faceoff guy as well as our best faceoff guy, he's historically been saddled with subpar wingers and still produced, he's been on pace for 25+ goals for years, he's leaned on OT. He's the captain, he eats the media headaches for the rest of the team and does so with grace, he's taken on a disproportionate amount of defensive responsibility over the years due to our inability to find others to take on that role. At least when we had Beagle he had some help, Sutter couldn't be counted on to stay healthy. He's always been more than his offense. He also never really got a chance to be a 1C here, I think he's capable of it. The season after Henrik retired Pettersson stepped in and had a Calder worthy year, there was never a gap. I don't blame him for leaving as all he's really done here is lose. I hope he wins somewhere else, wherever he ends up. Careers are brief, I don't blame players for not wanting to stick around on a loser when they could win elsewhere, at least he's handling it better than Kesler did. Management isn't willing to pay up, he shouldn't have to take less than market value for a loser, it's a tough thing. But hey, hockey's a business.
  6. Silly imo, if that ever got out it'd likely be considered tampering or dealing in bad faith. Plus, as much as fans like to advocate for it guys who are traded don't circle back very often at all. In fact the last player who springs to mind was Antoine Vermette who circled back and re-signed with Arizona after being traded to the Hawks for their cup run and that was back in 2015-2016.
  7. Perhaps in time, but it flips the argument that players are paid based on their historical body of work on it's head. As does the history of players being paid on the back of a single highly productive season, you know.. your David Clarkson and the like. What players are worth and what they should be paid isn't cut and dry anymore.
  8. This argument doesn't work anymore, not in an environment where youth like Boldy and Kotkaniemi are being paid based on potential.
  9. Nah, if we had to nominate someone it should be @-Vintage Canuck- At least they'd be objective regarding players as assets
  10. He'd just have us trying to trade everything to the Leafs for Marner
  11. He was a bright spot during the 14-15 to 16-17 years
  12. Ehhh, if they trade him for a Horvat caliber piece I don't think that could be held against him, Wright is a fantastic prospect but Horvat ain't nothin either
  13. Yeah, he had a good showing for sure Ehhh, I don't expect teenagers to act like adults, of course there's some immaturity there As for hyping him, he was in the mix to be drafted 1OA whether he went there or not, I'd take anyone who's recently been drafted in a top 4 slot
  14. I'd take a player who's upset where he was drafted over a player who gripes about where he landed Dude was confident, probably heard about it for years leading up to the draft, and he's young
  15. Carolina needs to send back Gardiner's LTIR contract that expires at the end of the season and a corn chip
  16. I wouldn't accept any deal that involves picks being conditional upon Bo's re-signing, that's a losing deal waiting to happen Two 1st round picks only actually sounds good if they're guaranteed If we were left holding the bag with a 1st, Gourde, and a middle value piece instead I'd be choked
  17. Hence why we should stop our moronic trading away of high picks Tolvanen was just plucked off waivers, I'm not taking someone we passed on as part of a trade return The couple of 1sts is nice but Gourde doesn't move the needle for me at all
  18. Cool, now we can lose without scoring lots of goals
  19. Considering the season he's had and the deal they signed him to I reckon Seattle's pretty content with McCann and where his game is at They've got a legit shot at taking the divisional title with the group they've got without moving him and a guy who arguably could have gone 1OA in Wright, I'd be surprised if they took this deal I don't see Seattle being an organization looking to make bold moves yet, I reckon they'll just sit tight with their forward group and maybe look to upgrade their D considering they're 4th in goals scored, 17th in goals allowed, and 31st on the PK Offense just doesn't look like a need, they'd be better off addressing their weaknesses
