  1. You sound similar in that it sounds like you enjoy hockey more when you're focusing more on the game than the teams
  2. We probably weren't gonna catch Columbus anyway, let alone Anaheim, but if Anaheim keeps winning at least we'll have a shot Nice to see Chicago win again too, I'd rather see Bedard anywhere else Sabers win which keeps them ahead of us, Isles get a point too which is nice Montreal lost which sucks but it kept Florida ahead of us, we'll have to lose to maintain position Hopefully Detroit and Arizona can pull out points tonight
  3. Oh most def Sometimes it's better to take a step back, sometimes you actually enjoy things more What kinda cued me in was when one of my really good friends who was even more into hockey than I was started taking steps back from it, sometimes you don't see it from the outside looking in but you can recognize yourself in someone else
  4. Mind you I was spoiled as to when my fandom began, my first introduction to the Canucks was during the WCE era and I got to track the team having success through my teens and my early twenties I was spoiled in that I got to spend a long stretch of time being able to expect that we'd probably win most games, this probably contributed to my approach It also made this past ten years more frustrating as I hadn't had to ride out a long stretch of tough years, at this point it's old hat But I miss having teams I actually expected to win most nights, it's been a long time now, I don't expect much in terms of positive results anymore and I'm not alone in that Management has a lot of work to do to win this market over, apathy has set in for some and from what I've picked up a lot of folks just don't care as much anymore
  5. You must balance it better than I did Once upon I was so invested that a loss would ruin my mood, and sometimes my day or night, a bad loss would really make me sour I don't like sports having that kind of impact on me as it's not fair to anyone around me and it's a silly thing to let sour my time I'm not as emotionally attached to the players, the roster, or wins or losses anymore
  6. And that's fair, that's your take and your experience I'm not the same way, once upon a time I was but I was also more invested than I liked, it's shifted as I've tracked the league as a whole more I'm a Canucks fans but I enjoy other teams and other players, I'm not your denounce all others Alf by any stretch We haven't been that sort of team since maybe 2012, we're not good enough to be hated that way and haven't been in a long time Depends on how you gauge it I suppose, my personal experience speaking to other Canucks fans is that those who are more than casual fans really know their hockey, or at least their Canucks hockey I can't speak to the stadium, which the actual quote addresses
  7. Bear's a 5-6D though, if Morrow hits his potential he'll be top 4, I don't view Bear as having top 4 upside I do think Staal comes back as their 3C, if they look to upgrade their 2C which I agree they should it makes sense that Kotkaniemi would be a player who is moved out Necas leads their team in points, as a team who should probably be looking to get over the hump I don't think he's a player they'd be looking to move
  8. We've got divisional tank rivalries with Anaheim and San Jose but we're only really competitive with San Jose..
  9. And I mean, Michkov isn't a center but the accessibility bit still applies.
  10. If management drafts a center, and we should, I reckon it'll be someone who's closer to home who could potentially make the jump sooner than later. I'm not advocating for rushing players into the bigs, it may very well be whoever we draft needs time to develop further outside of the NHL, but I could see management wanting to have the option of bringing someone in sooner than later. Michkov, regardless of how much talent he may possess, doesn't offer that option.
  11. Something something about moving Arizona to somewhere profitable
  12. Forgive me, I'm contractually obligated to say something smarmy on a regular basis or I will die and decompose It was a miss
  13. Guerin's been very conservative thus far regarding moving out assets, I don't expect that'll really change and you've noted they're not yet in a position where it's likely to As for the west, I don't know, Colorado's been beaten to hell all season and they're just finally starting to get healthy again I think Landeskog will be back sometime after the all-star break I think a fully healthy Avs team still comes out of the west even if they don't finish top of the heap, I'd certainly take them over Minnesota https://www.cbssports.com/fantasy/hockey/news/avalanches-gabriel-landeskog-will-start-skating-after-all-star-break/#:~:text=Landeskog has yet to play,mid-to-late February. Minnesota's done well to recover and gain ground in the race though, they'll be in the playoff mix but that's probably about it imo
  14. Here's a little something from this past summer “Our defence right now is good enough to win, but there’s question marks there. We’ve got Rathbone, who’s a young player that’s tracking in the right direction, deserves the opportunity to be in Vancouver this year. If he comes in and plays the way he did in the American League last year, and stays healthy, that’s going to improve our defence. “The big question mark is Poolman. Poolman when he’s playing without any injuries is a good, solid defenceman, can actually play in our top four. But, there’s question marks around his health. That’s going to be something we’re going to have to watch.” https://dailyhive.com/vancouver/rutherford-fixing-canucks-defence
  15. Yeah, but anyone who actually paid attention to how the team was playing in front of Demko last season could tell that probably wasn't sustainable I mean, Rutherford himself commented on it, it wasn't an unknown His falling off the way he has this season was surprising but his not playing out of his mind the way he did last season wasn't, that's tough for any tender to sustain They did nothing of significance to address our D, it was always going to be an issue so it's not really surprising that our goaltending has been affected
  16. I liked what he had to say coming in but then he went on to not really follow through We gave up a pick to dump cap and he'd stressed the importance of picks, this was after going and blowing our cap wad on a bunch of forwards and painting ourselves into a corner with Dickinson Instead of making the proper move he extended Miller Could have traded Boeser, retained him We did actually acquire a younger D in Bear I'll give him that but he's largely just kept Benning's core intact All they've done thus far is really just tinker around the edges

@Coconuts We need to secure at least the 3rd overall pick to have a chance at that

Leo Carlsson reminds me of Sundin. He'd be a great pickup. With Forsberg 2.0 in Petey and Carlsson as a Sundin 2.0, that's great depth down the middle. It would be great if we had more than one first rounder to build up our defensive depth.

Tampa has a pretty strong backend so we could Cal Foote come available. If so, it's due time that we pried him out of there. I'd offer up Hoglander. Might be an overpayment but IDC we need Foote he's the perfect partner for Hughes going forward. They're even in the same age group.

But yeah, we slide in at 3rd overall and take Leo, we won't regret it.

  18. Rutherford can blow all the smoke he wants about wanting young NHL players but in the end he'll have to take what the market offers. He came in thinking this roster wouldn't need serious surgery and said our D, as structured, would be good enough for us to compete last summer. And well, here we are.
  19. Like it or not that's probably going to be the case with any team who fancies themself a contender. Deals with teams like the Rangers, Bruins, or Hurricanes will almost certainly be mostly built around futures. Boston trading Carlo doesn't help them gun for a cup, neither does Carolina trading Necas. We're probably not getting Schneider from the Rangers. A Bo return will almost certainly be picks, prospects, or players who have recently made the jump but who aren't integral roster pieces or players who look close to making the jump. Those are teams who are looking to bolster their roster to try and get themselves over the hump, they'll likely be fussy and very particular about moving out pivotal roster pieces.
