  1. Well, if healthy he'll certainly get minutes, good for him
  2. Because Toronto fans and media are on their Knies for the Leafs?
  3. Low risk, medium to high reward. They'll likely be a bottom team next season, makes sense to gamble on youth. Wouldn't be surprised to see him carve out a spot, top six or otherwise.
  4. Because folks love to argue and the dog days of summer mean any scrap is worth arguing over
  5. A cheap show me deal, it's up to him to show he belongs now
  6. That works if we're out of it, absolutely, and there's a good chance we may be. We should compete but I don't see us as a playoff lock. It'd be nice if him and Pearson have good years, could get us returns as you've said. I'm just not in a rush to move guys, Myers is fine as a 4D or less, he's a known quantity and given it's a contract year he'll be motivated. Some folks are just impatient, overhauling a roster tales time.
  7. Easy guy to root for, nice to see him get some security
  8. All they had to do was be patient with him and Virtanen, rushing them both was awful for this franchise. Who's to say what could have been if Jake had had time away from his boys, time to grow up around others putting in work over in Utica, or what could have been if we'd been patient with McCann. But they had to rush the shiny new toys. McCann has made a player of himself, if you look at his numbers he started improving year by year while in Florida, and then Pittsburgh. His point per game was getting better, his Seattle numbers didn't come out of nowhere he just got a larger opportunity and ran with it. And you know what, good for him. He's likeable enough if you can pull up your big boy pants and get over something dumb he said as a teenager.
  9. You don't have to like him, that's fine. But as for the success we had, not sure I agree, it's not entirely on the shoulders of the team or the coach. One could argue we'd have gone much deeper prior to 2011 if not for the Hawks, but we all saw what they went on to do. We were a very good team in the laye 2000's, we just had the misfortune of running into a future dynasty as they were getting their footing. The other side also has something to say regarding playoff outcomes. We then got stomped by a dominant Kings team who went 16-4 during their first cup run, it wasn't just us they made look silly. Was it disappointing? Could we have beaten the Devils? Sure. But those early 2010's Kings teams were defensive juggernauts during those two cup runs. San Jose was the door almost slamming shut, Calgary was the end.
  10. The most successful Canucks coach ever, and my personal favourite. Wish we, and he, had gotten a cup.
  11. Always liked Kopitar, big center with a sublime skillset. He's LA's Getzlaf in a way, but better defensively. Could be a first ballot kind of player. Two cups, two Selke's, two Lady Byng's, leadership award, repeat all-star. If only he'd been a Canuck.
  12. He'll be 36 and we'll still be talking about him Koltsov who
  13. It's likely to be a transition year anyway, if the team management has constructed can't make the playoffs it'll be because the team as a whole wasn't good enough. Myers is a cog in the machine, one guy. We can afford to wait it out.
  14. I mean, as a bottom pairing guy he's just fine, particularly at that cap hit. Minds his own end, adds some physicality, steps up once in a while, produced a respectable amount last season, easy to waive if needed. Easy deal to like for the Sens.
