  1. I mean, he's gonna outlast this management group anyway But clearly whatever's been going on isn't working, and the fanbase will grow more and more apathetic as time goes on if things don't change for the better The Canucks may be the only game in town but it's easier than ever to simply follow another team, to stream, to buy NHL packages, to order the merch of other teams Think of it this way, there's an entire younger generation that's only ever known the Canucks as having been mediocre, is that what the Aquilini's want? Are they gonna grow up spending their money on a mediocre product in a province that's already critical of the Canucks to begin with?
  2. Legend has it that if I douse an Alf doll in scotch, drink half a bottle, build a bonfire and skip around it thirteen times you'll appear out of the ether to tell me facts about the Aquilini family and their direction for this franchise..
  3. Mind you, I also see Horvat leaving as inevitable and if he goes Miller absolutely should too as he doesn't fit the timeline of a rebuild Folks can drone on and on about ownership all they like but this group ain't close to being a surefire playoff team let alone a contender
  4. I'd do those trades, Bo would need more coming back and I think Kuzmenko fetches less I think Kuzmenko brings back a 1st I think the Miller to NYI is close, might not be Raty coming back though I'm open to keeping Garland and Mikheyev, gotta play someone in our top six, I think Boeser's value can be rehabilitated but I'm open to moving him You might be able to move Myers at 50% during the summer or at some point closer to next season's deadline
  5. I mean, he'd probably get a better defensive effort out of this group
  6. Needless to say, concern about Pettersson's future isn't unwarranted. Management needs to pull their heads out of their asses and get to work, the longer they dawdle the less time they've got to keep Pettersson happy. If they're going to rebuild, retool, or whatever they're going to need to start sooner than later. They'll need something to sell him on if they want him to extend long term. Pettersson and Hughes are the future of this core, if they can't retain Pettersson they may as well tear it down.
  7. Players automatically become UFA when their contract expires if they are 27 years of age or older (as of July 1), or have 7 accrued NHL seasons. Next season would be six for Pettersson, the qualifying offer year would be seven. He'd be free to go.
  8. He could accept his qualifying offer and walk the year after though, qualifying offer is only a year He'll have enough professional seasons under his belt to hit UFA
  9. I was really hoping we'd find a way to keep him, I think he needed like another 75 game or something to hit 1k as a Canuck He'd have been the first D and fourth after Trevor and the twins if I remember correctly They really bungled it
  10. I had happily forgotten he exists Even at 50% retained they wouldn't get that imo and that'll likely be what a team would need them to retain to make a trade work He's got a huge cap hit and anyone who fancies themselves a contender doesn't have space for it
  11. Ducks have oodles of cap space and will almost certainly retain 50% of his cap hit Klingberg has enough of a track record when it comes to producing offense that'd he'd be worthwhile to someone at 3.5M pro-rated
  12. I don't worry about Petey's effort, he's been one of our most consistent players game in and game out this season, I've really enjoyed watching him Petey is often more cerebral, he'll express things sometimes but I dont think anyone on the team does it externally as often as JT My concern is that despite his consistent effort is that his frustration grows and he begins question the future more frequently like many of us do the players know where they are at, the team looks like they're just waiting for the other shoe to drop at times, it's a mess I don't think Petey's checked out, or Quinn, but the danger is that if things continue how they have the past season and a half that they might check out on the Canuck organization I'm a fan of Horvat but on some level I question how many homegrown top six talents we're going to see come and go before we're consistently competitive again, I see Bo leaving as inevitable and I'd rather Pettersson not be next I suppose we'll see, just seems we're all waiting for management to choose a direction, players included Probably neither, I don't see us contending any time soon which is why I advocate for a rebuild of sorts Which is probably leaning more towards starting over, but with the young core pieces already on the roster
  13. Dorsett was a beauty, we could absolutely use more players like him His injury was such a shame
  14. The 15-16 and 16-17 era teams weren't competitive but at least they showed more heart than I've seen this season, we were at a point where our being bad wasn't really surprising What I've watched the past two seasons has been more of a tragic comedy https://www.hockey-reference.com/teams/VAN/2016.html https://www.hockey-reference.com/teams/VAN/2017.html
  15. Then it should be all the more concerning imo. JT losing his cool doesn't surprise anyone, he's got a long track record of it. Pettersson and Hughes are clearly the primary building blocks going forward on this roster, if Pettersson's not happy it's not good for the team going forward. If the Canucks don't begin to show signs of figuring their shit out sooner than later he could just accept his qualifying offer at the end of this contract and walk. He'd likely be traded before it got to that point, but at that point you may as well tear it all down anyway.
  16. Yes, I was being facetious. I've had folks argue our trading Kuzmenko would scare free agents off and I've repeatedly pointed to how the Ducks will inevitably trade Klingberg who signed one year deal. It's a bunch of crock, nobody's going to begrudge rebuilding squads and teams who are outside the playoff mix being sellers. It's not like we're signing someone to a four year deal and flipping them to Arizona or something. And well, Bruce here we are.
