  1. Would our acquiring him still count as goaltender controversy even if it's more Buffalo's controversy? We're kinda overdue for some of that again now that both Martin and Delia are losing
  2. I mean, they were always going to make him an offer so they can at least say they tried to negotiate, that's a no brainer. Whether they'll offer him an offer that's in the bracket Kuzmenko's camp wants is another thing. Could just be a token offer if we're really looking to bottom out, he'd bring in a haul. I'd trade him, and figure he will be traded.
  3. This but also Podz and Hoglander, they're worth waiting on. I don't think Horvat extends though. Everyone else is fair game to a team willing to pay.

      The Venga Bus isn't PG13 I guess

  5. If they want Boeser though they can have him, sometimes you've got to be willing to come out with less in a trade to get what you need. Which in our case is cap flex. GM's who try to win every single trade likely won't make very many.
  6. If Minnesota didn't have nearly 15M in dead cap space that'd be one thing but they do. If they're going to move assets and commit cap space for a forward they'd be better of going for a center to slot between Kaprizov and Zuccarello. No offense to Sam Steel who's been .5 ppg thus far but they could use someone better on that line. Eriksson Ek is just fine as a 2C. It's not as if Minnesota couldn't use help on the wing, they can, I just reckon they'd be better off going after a center. But hey, maybe they believe in Steel. They've just gotta ride out these next couple seasons and keep Kaprizov happy, he's the key to their offense going forward as Zucc isn't getting any younger at age 35.
  7. Everyone needs a hobby But.. but.. B-Bruce there it is? Funny, Rutherford knew we leaned on Demko hard last season, I even brought a link, says as much in the first fifteen seconds He also acknowledged they need to do more during the summer, probably via trade, but still said our defense was good enough to win https://dailyhive.com/vancouver/rutherford-fixing-canucks-defence The caveat to this is it's not something we can replicate They had a guy who went on to be a Norris caliber D in Fox who didn't want to be anywhere but New York, they won the lottery twice (even if Laffy and Kakko haven't shown a ton yet), and they were able to reel in probably the highest end UFA forward in recent memory in Panarin They'd also been able to rob Ottawa in a Zibanejed trade, get Trouba out of Winnipeg or Pionk and a 1st, and got hits on players they'd drafted in Miller, Chytil, and Shesterkin New York sells itself, it'll always attract players, Vancouver is beautiful and all but I'm not going to pretend it's got the same pull But yeah, I'd be down for management and ownership telling the fanbase we're going to rebuild If Karlsson's moved it'll be at 50% imo, I have a hard time seeing teams who'd be interested being able to take on that full cap hit San Jose are inevitably poised for a rebuild anyway, getting assets and freeing up even 50% of Karlsson's contract would be a win for them considering he'd be wasted as part of an aging core that isn't going anywhere
  8. Pretty much, they're a second year team and there's absolutely no reason to rush things. If anything I could see them making the second round as is, which is a success in itself. If they play things patiently they'll be better off, they're playing really good hockey with what they've already got.
  9. I mean, that makes him sound like a mobster and at least there's a mystique to mobsters Francesco is just another slumlord billionaire with his fingers in blueberries, real estate and the like
  10. I don't think Podz, as he is, is getting you a top 4D. Certainly not Carlo. Top 4RD are always in demand and Carlo plays an important defensive role in Boston and is locked in for another four years at a very palatable 4.1M, it'd be dumb of them to move him. We're better off being patient with him and Hoglander imo, the Canucks are a mess and neither player is so old or talented that they can't benefit from stewing in the AHL for a bit. If anything getting larger offensive roles, special teams time, more minutes, and just playing on a team that's actually competitive is probably better for their development than being yoyo'd around on the Canucks or sat in the press box. He's a 10OA pick, top 10 picks don't all jump in right away and become stars, at 21 he's got lots of time to develop.
  11. That's all well and good, I know what Pearson is. He's not a problem and he brings a bit of defensive conscience and net front play to whatever line he's on. He was good value last season, not so much the one before that. But yeah, he's been hurt most of the season and thus hasn't really had a chance to show where his game is at. I reckon we could get a third for him. I don't he's a poor player or that he's worthless or anything, I just wouldn't give up a 2nd for him. I'd take one but I certainly don't expect it. Maybe with retention, but I question whether management is willing to do that. I would.
  12. I dunno about Detroit tbh, they've been better this season from what I can tell But yeah, lot of tank matchuos towards the end
  13. If the Florida pick ends up being top five or winning the lottery I'm gonna laugh Montreal should have a bright future to look forward to given their young NHL talent, prospect pool, and stash of picks
  14. Could have two in the top five Who'd have thought that Ben Chiarot might get them that
  15. Best result imo Blues may not make it, Flames may not either, but games like that one keep them both ahead of us
  16. There's a quote attributed to a pretty smart dude about insanity, doing the same thing over and over again, and expecting different results..
  17. The Canucks fanbase can't handle a rebuild but they can handle a decade of aimless meandering through a desert of mediocrity
