  1. I don't see it. At the very worst we could probably move him for a player with a similar sized contract and similar term, if not a smaller contract. He's also a good bounceback candidate given how he plays imo, and he's tied up for most of his prime. I'd rather avoid buyouts when possible. I'd be open to trading him, not as keen on a buyout.
  2. Depends, his agent was speaking to the media back in early December and mentioned something along the lines of not talking extension til the end of the season, or at least closer to it. That was then, maybe things have shifted, maybe not. Also doesn't matter if they don't have the cap space to extend him, he's not going to come cheap by any stretch if his production continues. He doesn't owe us any sort of discount and I don't expect one. He's found money, a free asset, and we're a team that desperately needs to be acquiring picks, prospects, and young NHL'ers. I understand your argument for waiting on Horvat and it's a fair argument, but I'd rather take a deal sooner than later if we can negotiate a good return, his getting hurt and our not being able to get value is a legitimate possibility and it'd be Canucks luck.
  3. Nah, I get it. But given we should probably be retaining 50% on Bo's deal anyway I think we should be looking at deals sooner than later. Kuzmenko's bargain bin cap hit won't be impacted much by waiting either, same goes for Schenn. It's part of why they're such valuable trade chips.
  4. There's at least a few of us who were arguing most of the summer, and leading up to last season's draft even, that Miller should have traded Same group were largely arguing that Horvat was the more important player to this team going forward Being right doesn't make me feel any better about how things have gone though I still think Pittsburgh makes a lot of sense imo I'd still do this deal The Miller to the Rangers ship sailed as soon as they went out and signed Trocheck Plus, if anything Miller's worth less than he was during his career season, his value was at an all-time high and we whiffed
  5. I'm hoping we start seeing trades sooner than later, seeing Horvat hunched over on the bench was a bit worrisome Worst case scenario would be high value trade assets like Horvat and Kuzmenko somehow getting seriously hurt, or hurt at all The longer management deliberates the longer we tempt fate
  6. Canucks give up five plus and lose, Horvat scores and pumps up his trade value This is the way
  7. Don't get to complain about no calls when the Jets haven't had a single powerplay while we've had three
  8. You can mask shoddy goaltending with adequate defense, which we don't have Vezina caliber goaltending just covered all the defensive warts we've seen this season
  9. Stech has a lot of heart, couldn't make up for his size at times though, which showed against the Knights despite his best efforts
  10. I don't think they will but it wouldn't surprise me, they should be able to handily beat their next five opponents Wings, Sabres, Penguins, Coyotes, Canadiens Pens aren't weak but they've been losing of late, Sabres can score but I think Winnipeg can stifle them
  11. There were concerns regarding Tanev's durability, he's been fine in Calgary since but I attribute that to our not having enough backup for him and Edler and a different approach to defense Edler wanted to move on, but had we given him and Tanev someone beyond Myers and we'd been more competitive who knows No offense to Stech, loved him but he was a bottom pairing guy
  12. Eddie and Tanev were on an island for years, we haven't had a D core with four legit top 4D since the top end Sedin teams
