  1. Time will tell I think a rebuild may be forced upon management by a roster that hasn't performed, doesn't matter what they want if the team they built can't get the needed results Which thus far it hasn't
  2. Nah man, he'd arguably be our 1D over Hughes, he's a stud top pairing RD and he'll likely only keep getting better
  3. The amount of apathy setting in amongst fans? We've been mediocre a looooong time
  4. Dahlin with four points thus far So much for being a bonzai, he'd be tied with Horvat for second on our team in points as a D
  5. Around here? Always Amongst the Canucks fanbase and amongst the NHL community? Absolutely
  6. Depends on the incentive to do so imo. 1M isn't much in the short term, but over seven years? I'm generally more open to retaining but I dunno. Also depends on the direction of this club going forward. If we're doing more of a rebuild it probably doesn't hurt as much.
  7. Given the rising costs of well, everything, that's probably a smart way to spend your salt
  8. Yup, he's still very young as far as coaches go, if he sticks with it he'll likely get another shot at the bigs but I'm content with him in Abbotsford right now
  9. I'd like to hear this from a more valid source but here's hoping It's no secret I'd like to move on from him
  10. A fair argument but I'd rather sell, him and Horvat are our best trade chips I believe Pettersson could succeed without him and I'd rather recoup assets via a trade Picks, young NHL players, Kuzmenko's production vs cap hit would bring in quite a haul But I'm also more interested in stripping things down than you are I won't be devastated if he's retained but he's absolutely not going to come cheap and I'm not keen on giving big money and term to a guy with such a small NHL sample size, someone would via UFA though I'm sure if his production keeps up
  11. I also like the idea of bringing in a head coach with more experience, Boudreau was the first non-rookie guy we'd brought in since Torts and I'd rather not go a more inexperienced route again so soon Colliton was a head coach in Chicago but I'd want a guy with more experience But yeah, hard to say how Abbotsford plays going forward but if Colliton is a good fit I'd rather ride that out while we've got it, maybe he gets a chance at the bigs somewhere at some point but there's something to be said for stability at the AHL level We haven't had an affiliate reliably develop our prospects since the Manitoba Moose were our affiliate, no offense to Utica as they were a great affiliate imo
  12. I'd rather not, the Abbotsford Canucks are playing well and I'd rather not mess with that going forward as it'll benefit in-house prospect development I'd just ride out Boudreau's last year and explore our options in the offseason, or at least closer to it
  13. Needs to happen more tbh Nice to see someone talking sense, this team has gone to pieces without Loui's stabilizing presence Kuzmenko's trade value to the moon They should absolutely take a trade package like that and run, he was a free asset and he likely won't come cheap on an extension
  14. I'll take slowly over not at all Don't screw this up JR, no more rushing prospects
  15. Byram wouldn't be enough, and I'm not sold on the fact that Colorado wants to move him tbh, they knew what they were doing going into the season without Kadri Colorado's missed Kadri but they're not necessarily where they're at because of his absence, simply put, they've been injured as shit most of the season I think there are better trade partners than Colorado Carolina would have to add, high pick or not KK's stock has almost certainly dropped and he's signed to almost 5M per for a very long time, I'd equate taking him on to taking on a cap dump at this point, although there is a chance he turns it around given how young he is But yeah, given his cap hit and term vs production that's a helluva gamble, a Carolina package involving KK would absolutely need to be more significant
  16. It'd be fun to watch but Colorado doesn't have the pieces imo, they moved some of the prospects I'd have been interested in last season when they went for a cup Carolina is a better fit because of their wealth of prospects and young NHL'ers, Detroit has some strong prospects too and their pick would likely be lower to middle of the pack Yes, but I question whether this management has the spines to correct their mistake
  17. Nobody likes you when you're 2023

@luckylager maybe time to invest in a tile or air tag?

  18. Kane to New York writes itself, reunion with Panarin, it's a deal I could easily see the Hawks making too Kane at 50% for Laffy and maybe a 2nd, Hawks would likely need to take some cap back though
  19. If the Canucks were to retain 1M and be willing to take short-term cap back they could probably get positive value for him imo. Brock at 6.65M is a bit steep, Brock at 5.65M is more palatable. It'd likely be more a hockey trade with say.. a 2nd coming back or a good quality prospect coming back. I'm just spitballing here but let's say Boeser with 1M retained (5.65M) for Josh Bailey (5M) and either a 2nd, Aatu Raty (52OA centre, 2021), Odelius (65OA LD, 2022), or Bolduc (57OA 6'4" LD, 2019). It's a deep draft but there's also something to be said for acquiring a known quantity, either D prospect would bolster an area of weakness for us and Raty would likely immediately be our best center prospect. Would probably need a bit more coming back because of the cap dump but this is a rough proposal. I'd be willing to give them Rathbone with Boeser to pluck a 2nd and one of the aforementioned out of long island. Doesn't have much trade value but he's young enough that maybe he could be something for them. If the Canucks did something shocking and retained 50% maybe they could squeeze a 1st and a bit more of NYI. Bailey hasn't looked good and I could see Boeser doing well out east. I doubt it'll happen but hey, spitballing.
  20. Saw that, don't think it'll impact his price though, not in isolation anyway. I don't buy that he's not available though, I could see the Rangers being willing to be patient with him which means they won't give him away, but I do think they'd listen on him. Having a guy like Othmann in the stable helps, Rags fans are pretty high on him.
