  1. He'd take a haircut in Boston, sure, but they've got to bones of a more competitive team and are more likely to continue to being a playoff regular for the foreseeable future than we are to make the playoffs sooner than later imo. Who knows how long Bergeron will play, Horvat would fit well over there though. Closer to home too. If he's gonna take less it'd make sense that it'd be with a team that's more competitive. Being closer to Ontario (if that actually matters to him, anyone's guess) makes it all the better. But yeah, Detroit could certainly afford to throw the kitchen sink at Horvat, and I could see Yzerman doing it to help his young team develop. I still think Carolina is the best case scenario for him getting paid and playing somewhere competitive. They've got some important guys to re-sign in the near future but I'm pretty sure they'd get it figured out.
  2. Dude looks like he's having fun, I hope he stews in Abbotsford next season too, no need to rush him Looks like he's figuring things out
  3. Pulock has a full NTC this season as well as the next four, given we look more primed for a rebuild than anything I question why he'd leave long Island for this mess
  4. One in your little picture, one in your sig Easy peasy
  5. I mean, if we got a third pairing RD out of a second round pick that'd be great considering our track record of drafting and developing D.
  6. Buying out OEL is dumb imo, if Horvat's moved we're likely not going to be a playoff team over the next couple seasons anyway. Better to just ride it out and buy it out later when there's less term and cap on the deal. It'd likely cost us a good chunk of cap to pay someone to slot into his spot anyway so it's not as if we'd really save anything. Buying out Poolman makes sense but I'd rather just ride out Pearson's last season and flip him at the deadline with 50% retained. Stillman buyout would be fine, but we could just waive him and save roughly the same amount of I'm not mistaken. Myers is the same story as Pearson, better to just ride it out and then flip him at the deadline at 50% retained. Myers at half his full cost would probably be palatable to someone. I'd try to rehabilitate Boeser and Garland, we're gonna have to play someone in our top six anyway, and it's not as if Boeser's deal is long term. I'd trade Miller, even if it meant taking a larger cap hit back. If we can pay someone for three or four years or less that'd be a win in itself imo.
  7. I'd take a free goaltending prospect, it's not as if we've got a bunch of them. We've got Silovs but we're pretty thin (except maybe wing) at most positions when it comes to prospects.
  8. Dallas is interesting but we'd have to take cap back to make it work, although retaining would help. They also don't have the space to extend him, but if they wanted to rent? Yeah, absolutely could be an option. Johnston would immediately be our best center prospect, although that's not saying much given how shallow we are regarding center prospects. I'd be asking about Bishsel (18OA 2022, 6'6" LD), Harley (18OA 2019, 6'3" LD), Kyrou (50OA 2022, 5'10" RD), Grushnikov (48OA 2021, 6'1" LD), and maybe Bourque (30OA 2020, 5'10" C). I'd be asking about their 2024 or 2025 1st too. Some combination of Johnston and other pieces for Horvat at 50% and maybe Schenn in return for some of the above and a cap dump.
  9. Miller doesn't hold a candle to Kesler as far as effort is concerned and it's not particularly close. Kesler could be moody, and a prick, he also had his ways of frustrating fans, but from what I recall most folks didn't really question his effort. He worked his way up from the bottom, having been written off as a likely third line center. He put the work in, carried a chip on his shoulder, actively wanted to be hated or disliked on the ice, and went to war on the ice. Some folks would fuss about him not using his wings as effectively as he could but he was absolutely a competent puck distributor when he wanted to be. Kes would rather take a hit or slash than willingly let someone by him more often than not, and as a result of his work ethic was one of the better two way players of the 2000's-2010's era. I'd take 08-09 to 16-17 Kesler over Miller every day of the weak. I'd take peak Kesler, whether that's his 25 goal, 50 assist, 104 PIMS season or his 41 goal, 32 assist, 62 PIMS season over Miller at his 99 point peak. Miller gives up some of what he produces, Kesler was the complete opposite, he was far from one dimensional and his value went far beyond his offense. As for top dog, it's funny you say that, before Hank was named captain there was actually a time around here where Kesler was considered a legitimate captain candidate.
  10. I mean, he's not a bad piece for their AHL squad and that's where he'll play Just depth
  11. Good Hopefully they sell soon But yeah, sometimes we're gonna win games we deserve to, we were never gonna lose em all Hopefully we lose next game
  12. Because they've been injured as shit this year, the last meeting in particular Just got Mac back do he's likely not back up to speed and they've been missing Landeskog the entire season and Nuke for most of it This wasn't an Avs team at full strength
  13. Canucks wanted it more for once Kuzmenko's trade value to the moon
  14. Arizona fans (all few thousands of them) watching Guenther go on to have the biggest game of his career like
  15. Maybe the future of Canadian goaltending will be okay, we could do with producing some more blue chip goaltending prospects though
  16. I get what you're saying but at the same time I'm happy for these young lads who gave it their all, who had nothing to do with aforementioned scandal and organizational behaviour
  17. Hey, the OEL trade guy got his third point of the night And winning goal Damn
