Amazing, more D in the pool has been a huge need. I like the sound of both.

I'm glad he's going to stew, great news. I want us to let our prospects develop as opposed to trying to rush them.

I've been busy so I missed the draft, I'm thrilled we took a D high. So glad we didn't trade our pick. I want D in the 2nd going forward too but getting one at 11OA is fantastic.

(Proposal) Miller to Calgary for Lindholm
Coconuts replied to Vanisleryan's topic in Proposals and Armchair GM'ing
I didn't say you can't express your view, I said if you don't like trade Miller threads than you're more than welcome to not engage with em, I didn't say you're not allowed to But yeah, if you're anywhere nearby we can do the beer thing and go back and forth, it'd be boring if we all agreed about everything And let's be real, whether some of us admit or not we enjoy the arguing and the discourse, haha -
(Proposal) Miller to Calgary for Lindholm
Coconuts replied to Vanisleryan's topic in Proposals and Armchair GM'ing
You're more than welcome to, but just remember it goes both ways. Point is, you don't need to defend Miller, trade proposals aren't attacks on his abilities. If folks didn't think he held value you wouldn't see proposals for value. Some folks simply have different views. If there isn't room for varying views CDC just ends up being an echo chamber. -
I'll just copy and paste my post from the other day, some folks seem to be pretty out to lunch regarding their expectations of what Graves will get imo. He made 3.1M last season, you're almost certainly not getting him for 3.5M-4M via UFA. I keep reading about how he'd be a good fit and I'm just like, you know there are other teams out there looking for D right? Has nothing to do with me being a downer, it simply isn't a very impressive crop of UFA's, which means the higher end guys will be in demand and likely command more. Let's take a look at D who played 50+ games last season. For LD you're looking at Jack Johnson (36), Brian Dumoulin (31), Marc Staal (36), Niko Mikkola (27), Ian Cole (34), Ryan Graves (28), Carson Soucy (28), Shayne Gostisbehere (30), Erik Gustafsson (31), Dmitry Kulikov (32), Dmitry Orlov (31), Nick Holden (36), Alex Edler (37), Matt Irwin (35), OEL (31), Calvin De Haan (32), Jordan Oesterle (31), Nathan Beaulieu (30), and Gavin Bayreuther (29). Some of these guys may not be back at all because of age, guys in this bracket include Jack Johnson, Marc Staal, Ian Cole, Nick Holden, Alex Edler, and Matt Irwin. Guys I've mentioned who I'd consider as being able to slot into one's top 4 are Ryan Graves, Brian Dumoulin, Shayne Gostisbehere, Dmitry Orlov, and maybe Carson Soucy and OEL. Six guys. Break it down further to the youngest of these six and you're looking at Soucy and Graves, both of whom are 28. Age matters because there's a better chance of getting longer term value from younger UFA's. If we look at RD UFA's who played 50 games or more the pickings are slimmer. Some of them are D who I've listed but who are listed as both LD and RD. They include Scott Mayfield (30), Troy Stecher (29), Justin Holl (29), Matt Dumba (28), Ian Cole (34), Connor Clifton (28), Carson Soucy (28), Shayne Gostisbehere (30), Kevin Shattenkirk (34), Travis Hamonic (32), Radko Gudas (33), Luke Schenn (33), John Klingberg (30), Dmitry Kulikov (32), Erik Johnson (35), Matt Irwin (35), Calvin De Haan (32), Jordan Oesterle (31), Nathan Beaulieu (30), and Gavin Bayreuther (29). Many of the same names. As with the LD some of these guys may not be back at all. For RD I could see that being maybe Kevin Shattenkirk and Erik Johnson. So for top 4 guys I'm looking at maybe Ryan Graves, Brian Dumoulin, Shayne Gostisbehere, Dmitry Orlov, Carson Soucy, OEL, Scott Mayfield, Matt Dumba, and John Klingberg. Mayfield, Soucy, and Graves are guys I keep seeing mentioned but if they make it to UFA they're likely going to be in demand. Also worth noting is that some players may not make it to UFA at all. For example, Isles may retain Mayfield, Kraken may retain Soucy, and Pittsburgh may retain Dumoulin. The more of these top 4 guys who extend with their current teams the slimmer the pickings, and the more leverage the remaining players have.

(Proposal) Miller to Calgary for Lindholm
Coconuts replied to Vanisleryan's topic in Proposals and Armchair GM'ing
Some folks want a different fit. Believe it or not proposing Miller for Lindholm isn't a slight to Miller, Lindholm is a fantastic two-way center. Dude was a Selke finalist, and the runner up to Bergeron, the season before last. A one-two punch of him and Pettersson is nothing to sneeze at, suddenly you have two top-six centers who are legit two-way players. You don't have to want to move Miller, nobody's saying you do, but other folks are entitled to views that don't line up with yours. If you don't like trade Miller threads you're more than welcome to click on a different one. -
Well, hopefully they go before our pick then..

[REPORT] Pierre-Luc Dubois has requested a trade
Coconuts replied to Elias Pettersson's topic in Trades, Rumours, Signings
Please let us be on the list, they can have Miller in return. [LeBrun] League sources have confirmed to me that agent Pat Brisson of CAA Hockey has a list that includes other teams, not just Montreal and L.A., as he and the Jets fully explore what I believe is a pretty robust market for the RFA center. https://theathletic.com/4627061/2023/06/21/nhl-free-agency-lucic-oreilly-hellebuyck-lebrun/ -
I don't care how attached some folks have gotten to Beauvillier, he's the easiest wing the move given his cap hit and this being the final year of his contract. He's a low commitment acquisition. As for Boeser, he's on a shorter term deal, it makes more sense to try and rehabilitate his value. He can always be traded at a later date if management doesn't see him as being part of their longer term plans. Makes more sense than potentially paying to dump him. In the meantime he can probably be productive, overpaid but productive. We still have time to re-evaluate where he fits on this roster going forward.

[Report/Rumour] Elias Pettersson Contract Talks
Coconuts replied to -Vintage Canuck-'s topic in Trades, Rumours, Signings
Yup, it benefits the team to get a deal done sooner than later more than it benefits Pettersson -
This one is stellar too.
