  1. I doubt it tbh, they like 16 with 32 I don't reckon 34 would shift things much. I don't see them wanting to have to add rounds or shuffle things around to much outside of maybe going back to the old 1 v 8 format. It'd also make the playoff push more interesting with more teams in the mix, more teams vying for the same number of spots. Arizona's got nine lives whereas Atlanta has resurrection powers
  2. Agreed, but the league's expanded to places like Florida, Tampa, Arizona. Some even saw Vegas as a risk. I wouldn't be shocked to see them take a third crack at it. Obviously it'd be cool to see a team back in Quebec though. The NHL's 450 million dollar dumping ground
  3. If it's expansion you'd have to think they'd be looking to grow the league to 34. Kansas city perhaps, maybe Houston. Texas has the population to support two teams, certainly. Relocation could be in the cards but there's not too many teams I'd view as serious relocation possibilities. Arizona being the obvious one.
  4. Ain't my billions, this is the same league that's kept the Arizona experiment going.
  5. Because the NHL wants to grow the game in the US? They've thought well enough of the market to give it a second chance in the first place so there must have been something they saw? If it's expansion they're eying instead of relocation it could very well end up being both, they'd just have to shuffle some teams back to the West.
  6. Fair enough, that's your choice.
  7. That's the funny bit, it could legit be Quebec's best shot at getting a team back
  8. So you say. Bottom line though if if there wasn't an audience or money in it he'd be doing something else. If folks don't like him the best thing they can do is ignore him and move along.
  9. Bits and pieces have been popping up over the last few days and it's caught me off guard. Could the NHL actually be considering giving Atlanta third shot? Could be nothing but it's a rather random bit to have popped up. Update: Weekes is indicating there's interest in both Atlanta and Houston
  10. Go for it? Won't change anything though, he's going to keep doing what pays his bills.
  11. Yeah, this is why I wouldn't be looking to pay to move Myers during the offseason. Retain 50% of his deal at next season's deadline and you likely get a taker. Maybe Pearson sits on LTIR, maybe not, but he's got one season remaining. OEL's buyout hurts sooner than later, it'd be better to bite the bullet and player him 2-3 more seasons before considering a buyout. Miller could be moved, might still be moved if the Canucks handling of him closer to the deadline are any indication. At the very least they were willing to listen and there was a lot of chatter out there, could easily circle back to Carolina or Pittsburgh if they underwhelm down the stretch or during the playoffs. It'd be easier to make the moving parts work with the offseason looming anyway. But yeah, moving out picks to dump contracts is a poison pill I'd rather not continue to swallow.
  12. They really want to put their best foot forward and try to win despite it not being in our best interest Canucks gonna Canuck I guess
  13. He always has, who could forget his "death stare", it's just showing up in his game more as time goes on. He's got more of a quiet intensity to him but he also reminds me of Naslund in a number of ways.
  14. Game has changed though, the sort of toughness from the old days into say the 2000's has gradually diminished. The early 2010's was the last hurrah for it imo. This isn't to say it's completely gone but guys like Schenn are throwbacks to a different era of hockey, even Schenn is more a product of having grown up when hockey was more "tough". At pushing 34 him and guys like Gudbranson are a few of the remaining throwback players from that era. Reaves is likely the last traditional enforcer, he's pretty useless out there otherwise. Toughness still exists in the game but you've gotta be able to play, and it simply ain't as common as it was. It's why guys like Wilson in Washington are so valuable.
  15. Ngl I didn't even know a Canucks app existed
  16. Shipping out veterans and replacing them with younger talent. Bolstering our prospect pool by actually using top picks instead of flipping them out. Out: Miller, Myers, OEL, Pearson. OEL is the guy we'll probably have to wait a while longer on because his buyout isn't very palatable and it'll get easier as time goes on. The other three could be shipped out sooner than later though.
