  1. Maybe, but I'd honestly be a bit surprised if Matthews wanted to walk to Arizona after all the playoff frustration he's had in Toronto. He'll get paid wherever he goes, why not win too?
  2. I keep seeing this but I don't buy it, I don't see teams handing assets over hand over fist because of sentimentality, that's not good business.
  3. Pending UFA who put up 53 points in 82 games last season 10 goals and 12 assists through 48 games thus far Low risk add, could help them push for the playoffs
  4. Only one team wins a year, one could feasibly absolutely do both. Carolina will be in the mix for example, they have some solid prospects. The Rangers too. So do the Devils. All three will be in the mix to go deep. Manage your organization well and it doesn't have to be one or the other.
  5. If Boeser's the one who goes so be it, I just hope there's a 1st coming back somehow.
  6. You could even hold up the reactions of Tampa fans regarding the trade the other day as an example. They've been to the final each of the past three years, winning two cups, there are absolutely chunks of the fanbase who are ticked about dumping an entire draft's work of picks to go for a cup now. Obviously fanbases aren't a monolith but sports are a results driven business and like you've said, fans often have short memories.
  7. Rutherford didn't do much of significance in Pittsburgh after their second cup. I know there's this assumption that a fanbase would be placated after winning cups but I don't see it being all that realistic. He's still judged on his entire body of work, cups or no cups. Cups are great but the world of sports is still about results and what you've done for me lately. It's just how she goes. If we win a cup and stumble shortly after there will absolutely be some fans who don't care about what happens going forward because they'll have that cup, but more than likely a larger portion of the fanbase will continue to pivot the way it always has. It's part of what makes following sports interesting, there's always the next thing. Could ask St. Louis fans how they feel about the state of their organization, they didn't win that long ago.
  8. Oettinger had an off game, they happen. There's no mistaking who's been the better tender this season and it sure as hell hasn't been Demko.
  9. It's okay, we can always pay to move Miller later, or so some would argue.
  10. It'd be funny if it was a blockbuster featuring both players, CDC would be down for days.
  11. Opens up a little cap space and makes us easier to play against down the stretch. C'mon Nucks, tank damn it.
  12. A third is reasonable, it's not where I had his value pegged but it's reasonable. Nice to have another bullet in the draft chamber. Here's hoping he circles back around in July.
