  1. When he retires years down the road this needs to be part of his highlight reel
  2. Don't say that, we root for the Canucks and there's lots of time left..
  3. Big night from guys who don't score much, we needed one of these
  4. That's a lot to give up for Severson. That being said, he's a good D with decent size who's shown he's able to produce and stay healthy for a weak Devil's club. He's an upgrade on Stecher. Jersey might do it, I wouldn't. I'm reluctant to give up Jake, but without Jake the Devils wouldn't do it. Severson' is locked into a bit of term whereas Stech is a pending RFA. It'd take more than a 2nd to get them to downgrade, we'd likely have to add a pretty good prospect or an additional pick? I'd be interested in Severson, but I'm not sure what would work for both us and Jersey.
  5. Of course they want to use the Olympics as leverage in CBA talks, though I see it more along the lines of them wanting to use the Olympics as a piece of the hammer they'd use to bang out their CBA goals. I don't believe the NHL's interested giving the NHLPA a fair deal, they'll take as much of the pie as they possibly can.
  6. It's a complicated scenario. How does hereditary chiefs vs band councils work? They'll likely have to figure that out among themselves, western perspectives would likely inflame such discussions. As much as some people would love it, the various levels of government can't strip them of their aboriginal rights or land claims. If it were that simple they'd have done it years ago. The government will have to tread lightly, they're unlikely to want the international attention they got last year and they've already had the UN breathing down their necks regarding Canada's historical treatment of indigenous people. There are lots of perspectives out there, that's normal. But some of them are just disgusting. Some folks would have protesters run over and maimed or murdered. Some would solve the perceived "indigenous problem" with violence or coercion. What a wacky world.
  7. We reaaaally need this win, an extensive skid at this time of year could be disastrous.
  8. That's ridiculous dude. To completely disregard indigenous history, culture, and land claims while claiming they're all just greedy is laughable. Not everything is about money. There are many indigenous nations with lands claims, and many wish to preserve what they claim are their traditional lands. This has been going on long before the landmark Degamuukw decision.
  9. The former may be true, but to claim you know what he is seems pretty silly. Time will tell, not your crystal ball. I wouldn't say he's overrated, we don't have a good grasp on what he is at the NHL level. But it could argued he's overhyped, which is fairly common when it comes to sports fanbases.
  10. I'm not interested in giving up what it'd take to pry Toffoli out of LA. Simmonds would be interesting, but he's not the player he was. We'd have to give up more too, they'd be doing us a solid taking Baer and they'd know it.
  11. #1. The playoff experience would be invaluable, but I don't wanna go through another finals loss.
  12. The weird thing is you're right, I wish we had that stretch coming instead.
  13. The bad news is Calgary's got an opportunity to rack up points over the next stretch. Over their next five they play San Jose, LA, Anaheim, Chicago, and Anaheim. Then it's Boston, Detroit, Boston, Nashville, and Tampa. Oil have it a bit tougher over the next five. They play Chicago, Tampa, Florida, Carolina, and Boston. Then it's Minny, LA, Anaheim, Vegas and Winnipeg. Vegas plays Minny, St Louis, NYI, Washington, and Tampa over their next five. Then they get nice stretch of Florida, Anaheim, Edmonton, Buffalo, and LA. We don't get it easy. We play Nashville, Chicago, Anaheim, Minny, and Boston again over our next five. Then it's Montreal, Ottawa, Toronto, CBJ, and NYI. No easy games coming, even Ottawa's fought hard this season.
  14. They need to turn things around fast, the teams around us have been losing but tonight that's changed. Edmonton's breathing down our neck and Calgary's right there too. Vegas has been winning as well, though Carolina might do us a solid tonight. Boeser's hurt, Petey's being run every game now. We've lost four in a row. Not a good place for this team.
  15. First Lucic scores, now boring Sean Monahan scores. I'm done. What a frustrating stretch of games. We were on such a role and now we've looked out of sorts since playing Boston.
  16. That could very well be it, we haven't looked good. Amazing what a powerplay that can actually score will do for a team.
  17. That wasn't a very nice period, we were outshot in our own barn. Gonna have to turn it up and bury a few. Come on boys, win da turd.
