  1. The conditional third-round pick becomes a second-round pick if Clifford re-signs with Toronto or the Leafs make the playoffs and Campbell wins six regular season games Could see LA getting that second along with the third, which is exactly what they need
  2. Arizona's the only team chasing us to get anything, I'll happily take that.
  3. We were gonna lose outright eventually, today was a good day to do it. Vegas, Calgary and Edmonton get nothing. The only divisional team chasing us who got anything was Arizona. Nice to have things go right for us.
  4. I'd love to see him hit 60 again, if he can keep up this pace he's got a shot
  5. Kirill Koltsov will save our D

Basil Rathbone was the best Sherlock Holmes....don’t think he can skate though (especially since he passed away like 50 years ago)

More like Trymkin will save our D.. but seriously the Canucks might have a log jam on D. Olli and Raftery will be challengers.

Koltsov is one the reasons I'm not holding my breath on Tram. If he comes back great. If he doesn't that's fine too. Not every player wants to be an NHL'er. If he puts his wife and family ahead of the NHL, I respect that.

I'm just happy Tram admits he's more mature now. I think even he understands even in the KHL you have to earn your ice time.

  6. Awesome, they've just barely managed to double our shot total two periods in a row
  7. I know the second period is our weakest, but to give up almost twenty shots..
  8. This is tough to watch Gotta hope Calgary and Edmonton lose I suppose
  9. I feel like a lot of folks forget just how good he was before he left. Jersey didn't throw money at him for no reason. Hell, they got close to getting another cup with him in their lineup. He was productive in the KHL too. The skill has always been there, though he's not as fast as he once was. If not for Jersey being in financial trouble I imagine he'd have stayed. He actually did them a favour by leaving, he didn't have to leave that money on the table.
  10. That's rough, what an awful thing to have to go through for him and his friends/family. ALS is no joke. Wishing him the best.
  11. He'd be a pain to play in the playoffs, certainly. I'm not a fan of having your top guys as fighters though, I want them on the ice producing not in the box or with the mitts off risking injury. If fighting is needed I'd rather have role players do it. I don't have a problem with guys sticking up for themselves or each other, but those who play on the edge and aren't willing to back it up are turtles like Marchand or Brady's brother. Play that way and you'll inevitably have to answer the bell, and there's risk that comes with that. I understand the appeal, but I prefer the straight scorer trying to round out his game.
  12. I'll be surprised if he plays this season if he was anywhere near playing shape Winnipeg could have just waited. If he doesn't play who knows what kind of player a team will get via UFA with him having sat out a season and his coming back from injury. I'll be surprised if he plays, let alone steps in and plays effectively right away. Dude would be rusty.
  13. I get why Tkachuk appeals to people but I don't feel the need for that kind of player. I feel the intimidation factor is a tad overblown in today's game tbh. You don't want your premier skill guys playing enforcer anyway, you want them producing. We've already got big bodies and heavier bodies in Bo, Pearson, Ferland (when healthy), Virtanen, and Miller who can score closer to the net. Hell, Petey's shown his ability to score closer to the net. We've also got Rouss who's willing to go to the net. We have size throughout our lineup with potentially Tram on the way and Podz being a couple years off. There's also Leivo who was playing well and Gaudette who's quietly had a solid season. Having a skill piece in Boeser is a good thing, you need those skill guys mixed in too. If him having 45 points in 53 games during his third full season is an "off season" I keep that every day of the week. He knows our systems, he knows our guys and he's proven he can produce here already.
  14. At this point Buffalo's pretty much Oilers east, I get why fans out there would be frustrated. That's the level of futility they've reached. Considering how loyal Buffalo's fanbase has been I get the frustration. They haven't been good since the 2000's.
  15. Fair point. It'll be interesting to see who they nab, the draft lottery is a fickle thing.
  16. I feel for their fans, I know they had a crazy string of playoff seasons but what a fall off. It'll be interesting to see if Yzerman can piece them back together.
  17. Honestly, I feel the pacific being weak bit is a bit overblown tbh. We've got five divisional teams very much in the mix for five of the eight western spots. Five teams within six points. When I look out east I see a few premier squads with a pile of points at the expense of the bottom rung of the east. Those outside the playoff bar out west currently have 56, 56, 55, 52, 48, 47, and 43 respectively. Those out east have 63, 61, 55, 54, 53, 46, 45, and 28 respectively. What I gather from this is that teams out east are beating up on teams closer to the bottom, while out west there's more parity and things are more competitive. There are six teams out east with 64 points or more, there are only two out west and we're one of them. If anything this might speak to the east being stronger than the west this season, not the pacific being weak. Chicago, Winnipeg, and Nashville aren't far out but as of right now they're outside the bar.
  18. I don't count that as retirement, I look at it as cap circumvention Considering he had 50+ points last season there's no way they should have him for 700k
  19. Morning games aren't usually our thing, this year we've won few. Can't win em all, we'll happily take that hard earned point. My only complaint is why did it have to be Williams, I hate that guy. Wish he'd have just retired.
  20. Shame Vegas couldn't lose, we need Arizona and Vegas to slide a bit. Everyone's keeping pace. Here's hoping the Alberta game isn't another three point game. Chicago has a legit shot at making the playoffs if they keep this up.
  21. Quinn is looking like the kind of player we've been yearning for for decades. First of his ilk we've had since Ehrhoff, and he's a rookie. Isles probably should have won, it's nice to get away with one.
  22. Karlsson definitely still holds value, but if Ottawa gets a top #3 pick with their pick that's gonna sting a bit Sharks remind me of where they were a while back, a lot of their players are 30 or pushing 30. Jumbo, Burns, and Marleau are well past 30. They've got Meier and Hertl as productive guys under 27 but they need an infusion of youth in a big way. Karlsson should play at a high level for a while yet, but I wonder if they might consider moving him sooner than later. This year may be an anomaly, but if it's not they could be looking at a rebuild/retool sooner than later.
  23. He's the best, he's done what he's done in the modern game
