  1. Damn it Deb, I didn't come to CDC to get all misty eyed
  2. I know enough, thanks. You don't have to be a genius to understand that firing a coach every other season isn't a good look for a professional hockey organization. "How it works" is up to management and ownership, not history.
  3. I think giving Green a new assistant or two is the easiest course, we can't keep burning through head coaches every 2-3 years It also looks better for management, cutting assistants doesn't get the same response cutting head coaches does If he can't get it done with new assistants, preferably veteran coaches, then it'd be time to take a long, hard look at Green
  4. We may already have a player of that ilk in our system in Podkolzin What he becomes remains to be seen, but he's got an engine that doesn't stop Really though, having our first this year as opposed to next year wouldn't be awful Missing the playoffs would suck, but unfortunately I'm used to it at this point We're a young team who's got to learn to be ready to compete each game and during most periods, these poor starts and mediocre second periods are killing us this season
  5. Honestly, I don't want to miss the playoffs but if we do it's not the worst thing This is likely our last chance to get a higher pick short of winning the lottery We should be a better team next season than we are this season, and a few of the teams around us (San Jose, Anaheim, Calgary, LA) shouldn't be much better Having Miller going forward and another solid crop of prospects wouldn't be the end of the world
  6. I didn't get a chance to watch but losing this game really sucks. We had so much help around the league, tonight would have been a huge night to gain ground in the division. Instead we allowed the Sharks to gain ground.
  7. John Carlson? Guess I can talk to him about the Caps cup run, his fantastic start and Ovi8
  8. I really appreciate Kes's insights on the Kes&Juice podcast

I didn't appreciate him handcuffing Dave Nonis when he signed that offer sheet from Booby Clarke (though it was his right).  I didn't appreciate him handcuffing Jim Benning with his one team list (while demanding to be traded) (though it was his right).

I will give him credit for busting his ballz most nights in a Canuck uniform (can never accuse him of mailing it in).

  9. I look forward to seeing what they can come up with. Juice def has a career in broadcasting if he wants it, he's always been good on radio and he's got charisma and humour. I was upset when Kes left how he did but I've long let go of that. Kesler was my favourite Canuck for years, he was a big piece of what was probably our most talented team ever. He left everything on the ice and gave it everything he had. He could be frustrating at times, but most players can be. He could be prickly, he could be a douche. But he was our douche. I still like Kes, I'm glad he was able to gut it out and make it to 1000 games.
  10. They were friends and teammates for the two NHL franchises either of them ever played for
  11. I'm rooting for him, that sounds like a horrible thing to go through even for cancer &^@# cancer
  12. Breezer's a guy the Canucks seem to be high on, I'd be surprised if they don't get him into a game
  13. We didn't deserve to win that, but Marky did so I'm glad we pulled it out. We deserved a better fate against Toronto, I'm just gonna call this things evening themselves out.
  14. We didn't deserve that point but I'll &^@#ing take it Actually, Marky deserved it But that's it
  15. I don't know what's more surprising Them not having scored at all or our having a total of 12 shots in spite of four powerplays
  16. Vegas and Edmonton lost, Calgary is losing. Good night around the league so far. Come on boys, you've gotta gain ground on these teams.
  17. Almost halfway through the first and both teams have four shots combined Could be one of those games
  18. Sounds like it won't be Risto moving after all. It appears Bogosian's been the victim of Buffalo's depth on the one side.
  19. Marky's expected, it's just a matter of dollars and length. I'll be surprised if we can wrangle a legit top 6 guy though, we don't have a ton of cap space as is. It'd be interesting to see what a trade like that would look like. Lot of teams out there looking for offense.
  20. Seriously? You're crapping on a 21 year old athlete, who happens to be the only black guy at a party, who's got a trainer dressed in blackface and people laughing at him for not somehow stirring $&!# up and taking a stand? When he's surrounded by teammates, staff and management? Are you serious? He likely had relationships with many of the people in that room, you expect him to flip the switch and somehow go after all of those people at once? That's not even remotely the same as you theoretically making fun of me in any of those scenarios. I'm not black and the only black guy present, I'm not going to be presented with racism presented as some sort of joke, and I wouldn't be surrounded by a bunch of fellow athletes or people who've got power over my career. My standing up for myself would be a helluva lot easier. I'm not making excuses. If you can't see how difficult a situation that would have been for a young, black professional player attempting to build a career in what is a predominantly white sport I don't know what to tell you. If your expectations are that he should have been able to somehow take on everyone else at that party over the disgusting bigotry and bullying that went on I don't know what to tell you.
