  1. It always weirds me out to see this Tiger thread pop up
  2. The two teams I hate most were gifted McDavid and Matthews and are currently playoff teams. Gonna be a long ten years.

It definitely stung. It's like, how much talent is Edmonton gonna accumulate? All those early picks and they kept whiffing. And then after all that losing and the system changes they still win and wind up with a generational guy? What the hell man.

Toronto was just blatant about it, which made them getting him even worse.

Leave it to the Oilers to screw it for everyone immediately following the McDavid draft. The real deal now is that anyone in the 1st to 5th seed give or take can win the lottery, and it might not be long before a team just missing the playoffs wins against all odds. Hopefully not while we need those players.

Something had to change though, and if Vancouver is serious about playoffs next year maybe 6 attackers is the way to do it. Get %20 more offence on the ice all game long.

  3. Seven of the last eight cup wins have been by three teams. How depressing. Here's hoping someone different wins this go round.

Sergio Garcia won a green jacket. Anything is possible now. Why not hockey as the next sport for a franchise finally popping their cherry?

I'm looking at you Washington get it done finally FFS or blow the thingie up.

God I hope so, I've been waiting for that.

Anyone but Boston, Chicago, Edmonton, Calgary or Toronto please.

  4. I do think the twins will put up better numbers next season. Maybe not 60-65, but once Willie finally put some actual skill with them they started putting up points again.

I agree, the skill is obviously still there as we've seen flashes of it. Their hands aren't what they were during their prime but their hockey smarts are obviously still there. Improving their speed would go a long way to extending their effectiveness and careers a few more years.

Keep Goldobin on their line, their productivity went up when he was working with them.

Definitely, they've looked better. With Willie gone they'll likely never have to play with a Megna again.

  5. New Jersey why you gotta be like this

It'd have been more fitting if they'd played Chicago or Montreal or something, nothing against Jersey but the NHL could have found a better fit.

      @Brad Marchand They would.

I don't love it since octopi are highly intelligent, and tasty food, but what are you gonna do PETA, fight tradition? Pick your battles as you're unlikely to win this one.

@Coconuts What's also weird is the game was played against a team that isn't even in their division

Now that you mention it, that is strange

  6. I really miss having d like Ohlund, Mitchell and Salo. They all brought something special to the lineup.

Hindsight is 20/20 but I felt we should have matched LA's offer for Mitchell. The guy had Captain written all over him.

Ohlund is still my favourite all time Canuck.

Mitchell was my favourite actually, I wish we'd matched the offer too. I understand why we didn't, but I felt we should have. He wasn't flashy, but he was a rock in our end and he brought physicality to the back end. Nice guy as I met him in Nanaimo a month or so back, but he was almost intimidating on the ice.

Salo may have had the better shot and better skating ability, but Ohlund had everything else Salo had and more. Not sure he ever hit his potential because of the eye injury but he's still the best D we've had so far imo. Size, defensive awareness, offensive instincts and physicality. Loved Salo too though, it's a fact we had a better record with him and he brought so much poise and a calming effect to our back end. Maybe Olli can bring that for us down the road.

  7. New Jersey won a game! It's a miracle!

  8. The season is almost over, can we free him yet? This place is gonna get dull post-draft..

Daniel's production has declined since Saniel was locked up in the dungeon. Coincidence?

He said he's goin to HF before his thread was deleted, and yeah if they free Saniel Danny can become a full time wizard again!

@Ghostsof1915 oops you just outed the angry pencil guy.

  10. I like the cut of Boeser's jib

  11. For real though. I understand being frustrated he hasn't panned out as hoped so far, but the vilifying him is just baffling. Who cares if he parties and whatnot sometimes? He's a professional hockey player in his earlier twenties and I guarantee a bunch of "character guys" his age likely do the same sometimes. Hell, I'm certain we've got guys on the big team who go and do it from time to time. It doesn't mean he isn't taking his hockey seriously. Travis Green has had plenty of good to say about Jake. Helluva game by Brock though, he had to be running on adrenaline but he looked great out there.
  12. Christmas is either really late or really early, welcome aboard Brock! Now people can finally quit freaking out about whether he'll sign or not..
