The two teams I hate most were gifted McDavid and Matthews and are currently playoff teams. Gonna be a long ten years.

It definitely stung. It's like, how much talent is Edmonton gonna accumulate? All those early picks and they kept whiffing. And then after all that losing and the system changes they still win and wind up with a generational guy? What the hell man.
Toronto was just blatant about it, which made them getting him even worse.

Leave it to the Oilers to screw it for everyone immediately following the McDavid draft. The real deal now is that anyone in the 1st to 5th seed give or take can win the lottery, and it might not be long before a team just missing the playoffs wins against all odds. Hopefully not while we need those players.
Something had to change though, and if Vancouver is serious about playoffs next year maybe 6 attackers is the way to do it. Get %20 more offence on the ice all game long.

Seven of the last eight cup wins have been by three teams. How depressing. Here's hoping someone different wins this go round.

I do think the twins will put up better numbers next season. Maybe not 60-65, but once Willie finally put some actual skill with them they started putting up points again.

New Jersey why you gotta be like this

@Brad Marchand They would.
I don't love it since octopi are highly intelligent, and tasty food, but what are you gonna do PETA, fight tradition? Pick your battles as you're unlikely to win this one.
@Coconuts What's also weird is the game was played against a team that isn't even in their division

I really miss having d like Ohlund, Mitchell and Salo. They all brought something special to the lineup.

Mitchell was my favourite actually, I wish we'd matched the offer too. I understand why we didn't, but I felt we should have. He wasn't flashy, but he was a rock in our end and he brought physicality to the back end. Nice guy as I met him in Nanaimo a month or so back, but he was almost intimidating on the ice.
Salo may have had the better shot and better skating ability, but Ohlund had everything else Salo had and more. Not sure he ever hit his potential because of the eye injury but he's still the best D we've had so far imo. Size, defensive awareness, offensive instincts and physicality. Loved Salo too though, it's a fact we had a better record with him and he brought so much poise and a calming effect to our back end. Maybe Olli can bring that for us down the road.
