^ You know, it's almost like it is time the governments started getting serious about building an LARGE, mobile and effective response team for dealing with this kind of thing.
Year after year, fires and flooding wiping out vast areas of land, towns, and cities. causing hundreds of millions of dollars of damage. Billions most likely.
Killing people. Destroying lives.
Get a national response team of thousands of people -or grow the military to double/triple our current size and have them take over responsibility.
When I was a young buck the forestry service hired logging contractors to help with forest fires. I was on one of those fires in 1974 in the Princeton area operating my uncles skidder. There were at least 3, maybe 4 contractors and their equipment as well as the suppression crew on that one fire alone. My voice took well over a week to come back from working in the smoke during that time. I'm not sure if these methods are still being used but if not, what a waste of valuable equipment and knowledge of the bush. Those old Cat operators could cut smoke guards around a fire in less than a day. Global warming, and human caused, in my opinion how many young people want to hire on as forest fire fighters?

According to Sportrac, @Artemus is correct: https://www.spotrac.com/nfl/jacksonville-jaguars/nathan-rourke-80911/
The only caveat is that there seems to be a $5k signing bonus as well.
Now the $5k signing bonus is a constant, as I've heard that money being involved. I hope he makes it, as in the CFL, the NFL goes through many QB's in a season. He's got the athleticism and is a very intelligent kid. Playing against 1st stringers will be the real test for him.
I look around the CFL and the calibre of QB's, man, there aren't many teams with a legit #1. Toronto, BC and Winnipeg.

My understanding is that Nathan signed for 3 years for a total of US$2,695,000
Now that's a huge difference. My sources say much, much less than that.

He's also been all class throughout the process and went to a game this season. Can't blame the guy for taking the kind of raise that will set him for life.
Actually he signed for $200K. He wanted the chance to prove he was an NFL QB. On to today's game, VA looked incredible in the first half, distributing the ball to his receivers, but, the running game isn't there for the fall games on the Prairies, or back East. Also the return game is non-existent, the coverage is way better since Bennie took over, but they need to find a way to tilt the field on kickoffs, and punts.
Big bounce back game from the defense too. I just hope VA is OK, why have a QB with the game out of hand, still in the game?

Unless Castonguay has some cap wizardry up her sleeve, I imagine there's a trade coming to free cap space.
They've got 6 weeks to be at the cap space. We know how difficult it is for a Canuck team to get out of training camp injury free. Everyone on the "trade Myers" train should wait and see what happens until then.

Confirmed 36 souls have lost their lives, this is devastating. To anyone that has ever vacationed in Hawaii, and to see what's left of that part of Maui, you'll know what I mean. That huge banyan tree in the center of town was iconic to those who visited and had their pictures taken near it.

The Penguins are an injury of their top three, Crosby, Letang, and Malkin, from not making the playoffs, even with Karlsson in the lineup. Is he going to be the SJ Shark of last season or revert back to the guy he was in a few years previous? With Guentzil (sp) out for who knows how long, I say the offense is going to be pretty thin.
San Jose loses a huge contract which they should have never taken on, they weren't winning with the lineup they had when they acquired him, and pick up a first next season which might be the middle of the pack if the Pens don't make the playoffs.
Who knows what the Habs are doing.

Summer McIntosh won her second gold medal and made Canadian history on Sunday at the World Aquatics Championships in Fukuoka, Japan.
The 16-year-old from Toronto captured the world title in the women's 400-metre individual medley final for her fourth-career gold medal at worlds, the most by any Canadian swimmer.
McIntosh finished in four minutes, 27.11 seconds, the third-fastest time in history. The Canadian came into the event holding the world record in the event (4:25.87) which she set in Toronto in April at national trials.
American Katie Grimes, the silver medallist, finished more than four seconds behind McIntosh in 4:31.41. Australia's Jenna Forrester took bronze in 4:32.30.
The win also means McIntosh repeated her historic double from last year's worlds in Budapest. She won the women's 200m butterfly and 400m individual medley to become the first Canadian swimmer to capture multiple gold medals at the same world championships.
McIntosh successfully defended her world title in the 200m butterfly on Thursday.
Not long after the gruelling 400m IM race, McIntosh anchored Caanda's women's 4x100m medley relay team to a bronze-medal win.
Kylie Masse, Sophie Angus, Maggie Mac Neil, and McIntosh finished the race in 3:54.12.
The Americans took gold in 3:52.08 while Australia took silver in 3:53.37.
Canada's Javier Acevedo, James Dergousoff, Josh Liendo, and Ruslan Gaziev finished seventh in the final of the 4x100m medley relay with a time of 3:32.61.
The U.S. took gold in 3:27.20, while China (3:29.00) and Australia (3:29.62) took silver and bronze, respectively.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
the time gap, between Summer and the second place finisher at this event seems HUGE.
congratulations to her, and her coaches.
Is there a video of this event? I'm guessing the distance between first and second is probably close to 5 meters. In a pool that's huge.

I was watching and it was an inexplicable decision by the coaching staff.
Hamilton had stopped Ottawa on 3rd down and thanks to a taunting penalty, had to scrimmage from their 2 yard line with enough time on the clock for two plays. There were two ways for the Ti-Cats to handle it....you could take the knee twice, or, if you think you don't have enough room to do that, (thanks to the bonehead taunting penalty) you bring in the short yardage QB....
You don't leave your starter in and have him run the keeper.....it was beyond stupid and I'm mystified as to why Steinauer let it happen. I'd be having a couple of four letter words with my OC....
Totally unbelievable decision by the coaching staff on that play. That looked pretty serious, one game back and then back on IR.

COULD be a great signing for this price, if he decides to play like he did in his early Blues career.

Rough weekend for the Dickenson brothers....
I think I feel a bit worse for Craig....not only did he lose, but now he has to go back to Regina....
One of the contest promotions at the game won a trip with Westjet to Regina.....poor thing!

Too many flags today, both teams seemed out of sync. The layoff hurt the Lions more, timing, a different QB, and flags.

Has anyone ever grabbed Lions tickets from Costco? They look like a good deal but it's been quite some time since I've been to a game.
I want to bring my son (who is only 7) and my wife says that she'd like to come as well. (Neither of them understands the rules btw. We're dealing with new fans here).
We're not looking at any particular game. Just generally would like to get to a game.
I haven't, and I didn't realize Costco sold them. It might be a very good option for you and your family though.

Game about to start
Edmonton @ Winnipeg
Elks are 0-6 Bombers 4-2
The Elks held in there, but their D was on the field too long in the second half. They did win the first half of the game though. I don't think Winnipeg is anywhere near the team they were last season.

So nice to see babych finally get the respect he deserves here. We had an almost legendary dman here and didn't even realize it.
Those "Dave" from North Van Liberal ads did me in for Dave. I loathe anything Christie Clark.

Cammi played at the highest level. She knows exactly how important elite D are to winning. If she thinks Willander is a future elite D who is going to be key to our winning then we win this draft.

McLean was at least ten years past his best before expiry date.he and his stupid comments won’t be missed.
Bieska didn’t say enough negative comments towards the Canucks, he had a personality and added humour ( they don’t like that) so it was only a matter of time. He also upstaged Rudy and friedman so it wouldn’t surprise me if they had something to do with it.
So it’ll be back to dry boring muppet Friedman and a panel of “how bout mcdavid” “ Mathew’s Mathew’s mathews”
let’s not forget they might need a longer segment for the endless and horrendous gambling analysis (cabbie the clown and his puppet) and more gambling ad

What do you think?
Mikheyev - Petey Kuzmenko
Beauvillier - Miller - Boeser
Garland - Blu - Podkolzin
Hoglander - Aman - Joshua
Pearson - Sasson - PDG
I want to see a healthy Mikheyev, the short season with the team last season makes me wonder, how's he going to look skating on two legs this season?
