The fact that they were thinking he'd be ready Saturday was scary enough. Milk this as long as necessary. Why in hell they would give him a conditioning stint in Abby first, instead of having him up here watching this defense in front of him is a mystery too.

(Rumour) 4 teams interested in J.T. Miller

The Pittsburg Brandon was the guy the Canucks needed for sure. He Pk'd, faceoffs, and had decent speed. Plus he was a righty! -

The thing is, he was never injured or missed very few games when he arrived as a FA. Canucks, anything that could have happened to him, did. -

I liked his game, why he wasn't kept was another puzzle. -
Johansson is under Canuck contract, so being in Abby would be a good start, and I'm not sure if Jurmo is under contract. QH's is having another remarkable season considering how much of a fire drill this defense is, being the only +/-player on the entire defense. As well as being second in scoring on the team. I think if you added say a Rathbone with those two you might get a 3 or 4 D, and maybe a late round pick, but probably have to retain on Boeser. You're right about Myers, no team is going to take that gamble on a $6M contract, playoff race et al.

I liked the guys heart and soul as you say, but he was a turnover machine in his last season as a Canuck. He'd be another in the line of 5-7 defensemen the Canucks seem to end up with on the blueline. I want to see Johansson and maybe even Jurmo over here for at least a look. This defense is going to be a work in progress, and no level of coaching is going to get this team out of its funk. I hate the thought of this team getting into a bidding war over player X, only to find out that he's a bust and the team is stuck with him for 2-5 years, as usual FA deals turn out to be.

I had to look it up, as for a moment I didn't believe that he was only 28. It seems like he's been in the League much longer than that. But, no, that ship has sailed, no to Troy from Richmond.

My list was focusing on defensemen, and yes I think more than two of those forwards will be up next season. -

They have prospects on paper, but, can they play in the bigs? I'm interested in seeing a kid like Woo get his chance. Maybe Brisbois, Juulsen or Wolanin. Johansson, Jurmo, are they ready? These free agents signings either bite you or they work out well. But, most teams overpay, and I mean really overpay. Back when Myers was a FA, I don't recall too many saying they didn't think $6M was too much for him. Same with Loui Eriksson, he had come off 3 or 4 good seasons and looked like a sure fire fit for the twins. -

I would certainly hope the Abby Canucks and the big Canucks are playing the same system, so to make it a seamless transition if callups are needed. Is Tocchet trying to change the system for the organization? Usually you see a bump in a team with a new coaching staff. All I've seen is him playing hardball with Kuzmenko and rewarding Miller, Boeser, and Garland. -
Garland is worth more in a trade than Boeser will ever be. Why would they buy him out? This retention money is really going to bite for many years.

Ok, so let's say they sign him for $4M, $5M, or whatever the going rate for D is, and he can't play Tocchets' socalled system? I'm sorry, I don't see any system from this coaching staff. Oh, btw, has anyone seen #6, he seems to have disappeared off the face of the earth. -

A 6 goal against average ain't going to work. I watched the last part of the third. They played hard, controlled the puck in the Rangers end, outshot the Rangers, but giving up 5 and an empty netter isn't a system. Silovs played well, I didn't see any goals against in the third other than the empty netter. This team needs a huge upgrade on d, the thing is, they don't grow on trees. I'll ask you, how are the Canucks going to acquire these players? There isn't one team in the league that's going to give the Canucks anything for Myers, OEL, Stillman, or Bear, other than a bag of pucks, and in Myers and OEL's cases, retention. The organization has a better system playing out in Abby, than the big team has. -

A head scratcher for sure. Bo would have probably taken less, and would have left the organization with a #1 or #2 center, but, I've beaten Miller enough on these threads. I think its time for him to show his worth. He's another one that used to shot from that left wall, now all we see are those blind back passes to QH. I don't think we'll see JR much longer than next season if this isn't improving. -

Yet they still traded picks for Dermott, I might be wrong on him, but they've traded a pick or picks since they arrived. JR even admitted he should have said less in the beginning, but alas, here we are. Another season in Canuck history down the toilet. -

JR: culture of the team, structure of the team, we're going to move out contracts, and trade for picks. Just a few of his words and catch phrases. -

You mean like the Coilers play, they don't have an NHL defense or an NHL goalie in their system. -

I expect more from a management group than words, and catch phrases. It's been more of the norm over the past 15 months. I'll even go to ask how many of you on this board commented when BB went on that run with the same team that Benning assembled and Green coached? -
Crosby sure did, and still does to some degree. Good notice.

You're making it sound like they can wave a magic wand and get a top 4 defense, they haven't had a top 4 defense since the '09 to '11 teams. I think PA, JR should have held off comments until they were in town for at least a month before making those statements. How many times did Stan Smyl interrupt them in the initial press conference. He knew what this team was, they should have listened to him, before going to the mics. -

I'm 75 and I'm getting impatient. Two more years of building, will it include EP? I doubt it. He's the best player this franchise has had since the twins. -

JR was talking about changing the culture in the off season, did he? No! JR was talking about moving out contracts for cap money and draft picks, did he? No! JR left BB dangling in the wind by hiring Tocchet in November if the rumour is true, is that solid management? NO! If you ask me this management team is a country club, is it any wonder the players have no idea which direction they're going? I mentioned Tortorella before, actually Keenan was worse. Are you basing your above comments on Tocchets back to school comment after Monday's game, no taking nights off, and not cutting corners. Another catch phrase my friend. I'm waiting for him to say, there's no I in team. Yeah let's have a training session for a west coast team that travels 4 times as much as an eastern conference team like Pittsburg, during the season, and then see who ends up injured while doing so.
