Just last year off the top of my head. Bear, Poolman, Dermott, Schenn, OEL, Myers, Hughes, Hirose, Brisbois, Juulsen, McWard, Hamonic, Bowey, Burroughs, Stillman, Wolanin, and Hronek. Actually, I looked.
It has for sure, however, kids like Woo, Johanssen, Brisbois, Rathbone seems will have to start at the bottom looking up to crack the lineup, or get a chance to. Not that that is a bad thing, but the competition is going to be off the charts in September. Murphy's Law though, someone will come down with a long term injury.
He was the best defensive D man the Leafs had on their blueline in the playoffs. But, they sign Reaves, when D is their issue. Nashville is going up with Trotz at the helm.
Sounds great. However in the middle of winter in Vancouver you can ski on the local mountains (45 minutes) and go for a run in the city after. Or, you can play a round of golf in the summer, and then do the Grouse Grind in the evening all less than an hour from each other. If you can stand the traffic that is.
But, you put him in the lineup, and there is no way in hell this new management team is interested in Tryamkin. All those rumours were coming from his agent about him wanting back in the NHL. I have as many sources as you have, none! That ship has sailed
What's with CDC'ers and their infatuation with former players? He ain't coming back, period. That ship has sailed. Saying that, if Schenn was available and the feeling was mutual between Luke and the Canucks, I'd bet they'd take him back in a heart beat, for the right price.
I was excited when we drafted Bob Daily. He then got traded to Philly for "Izzy" Goodenough and Jack McIIargy. I got excited for Jocelyn Govremount, but he was a flop. Rick Lanz played a few seasons before also being traded, but for his rookie season I was very excited. He had a bomb for a shot, but because of lack of development his game never improved. All three were right handed D, and with a bit of development could have been cornerstones for the Canuck franchise. In the early 70's they shared farm teams with another NHL team in cities like Tulsa, Fredricton, and many more that I don't remember.
With the Abby Canucks an hours drive from Rogers Arena, there should be no more excuses for development. Colliton and staff are doing a fabulous job down there, let's hope it continues. Let's give this KID the time he and the organization needs, 3, or 4 years if that's what it takes. Defensemen do take longer to get it.
Drafting D in the first round is anyones guess. The Canucks have tried in the past, Bob Daily, Dale Tallon, Guevremont, Lanz, but back then there was no player development in place, and all 4 didn't have very long careers. It's risky even now.
