  1. Right D drafted in the 70's and early 80's. Bob Dailey, Michel Petit, Jocelyn Guevremont, Rick Lanz, Garth Butcher, and that's about it for right handed D. Adrian Aucoin, and Brent Sopel, and Bieksa from the early 90's to the present. Pretty dismal drafting, as most of the Canuck d has come through trades. I'm not sure how many of Benning's recent defense drafts, especially the right handed ones will pan out in the future, but wasn't it Bieksa who said, not many kids want to play defense, period. Of those kids drafted, Dailey, Butcher, Aucoin, Sopel, and Bieksa are in my opinion good safe picks, good, but not game breakers by any means.
  2. Personality?? I want a coach, not a pr guy! Say what you want about Travis, I believe he is a good quality coach, however, wrong team, wrong time.
  3. As well he jumped in and interrupted FA more than a few times, and made his point about not being a runover in this new process. Sounded like he wasn't going to be a token executive, and as well said the committee was all in on getting this back on track.
  4. the media? Hell, the fans do enough of that on these boards. Boudreau hasn't coached a game and he should have already won 5 in a row.
  5. Judging by some of the comments from some of the posters. I'd say many are hard to convince that there is no meddling between ownership and the hockey OPs folks on the club. Hopefully Steamer and the committee get a free rein to do the job.
  6. He forgot about Daniel while mentioning names he's working with. Stan has always been a Canuck and public speaking isn't his forte.
  7. I've seen fire, and I've seen rain, I've seen sunny days that I thought would never end.....and now snow!!!!!!!!!!!!
  8. I'm one of them. I wish him nothing but the best, however, the game is a result based commodity, and he didn't have the horses to get to the next level. BB is 66 years old, he won't be around beyond next year, and usually by then his best before date has expired. I like the Scott Walker add, and I'd even go with Ryan Johnson as a GM too.
  9. As they should, I agree they are generous, and give back to the community, and treat the organization with first class support. However, they have made very poor choices for their hockey ops people. The bar is pretty though too, as far as previous ownership, other than say the Griffiths', who I wish had deeper pockets.
  10. When the panel mentioned that there were far more fans hanging over the glass in the Penquins end of the ice, during the warmup, that alone should be a wakeup call to ownership. Syd Crosby and all! If a franchise can't attract a loyal fanbase, why in hell are they in the business? The mess starts at the top, either the Aqualini's are in it for results, and by that I mean much more than two game win streaks, or sell it and take the money and run. You are part of the problem too! The icing on the cake, a Canuck jersey being picked up by a Pittsburg player and given to a fan over the glass. Disgusting!
  11. At the beginning of training camp, I thought that at least on paper this team was much improved. The forward group at least, and that the D needed one more stud back there. I guess it shows that you have to play the games. You bring up more good points in your commentary.
  12. Has anyone ever seen a game where a team takes 3 penalties in less than a minute? I'm of the opinion that there is some kind of spell that's been cast on this franchise. The old saying if you don't have any bad luck, you have no luck at all. I was a backer of Benning and Green, but, I now agree this thing has to be blown up. The players are demoralized, frustrated, and are totally lacking any confidence in themselves let alone each other. The ownership group now needs to take a huge step back, and hire a no nonsense GM, and coaching staff. The scouting staff is in place, leave that alone. The farm team is in place, leave that alone. Not a stopgap, but, a long term plan for the future of this franchise, and not from within the organization. I've been here since the beginning, as well as when the Canucks played at the Forum in the old WHL. Since day one this team has never got off on the right foot. The Tom Scallen scandal, losing the first draft lottery, the Bill Laforge debacle, the Tom Watt's of the world that passed themselves off as coaches. The Seattle owner that brought in Messier, Keenan, and a whole parade of players. Brian Burke and his sidekick Dave Nonis, and now this mess. We've had three runs at the Cup, and I'm in my 70's and it sure as hell doesn't seem like we're ever going to see a winner in my lifetime.
  13. Who??? Bailey, been there done that, Petan? been there done that, Lockwood? let him learn the game in Abby. Players still on the roster that can fill in, Lammiko, Highmore (injured), and Dowling who are all better suited to the NHL. Chaisson right now is better than all of them.
  14. Enlighten us then. I've had a three, two pfizer, and the moderna booster. I had a headache after the third. What issues?
  15. So I guess your parents, or grand parents didn't line up to get the smallpox vaccine? How about polio?
  16. There's only one coach, past or present, in the NHL that I've ever wanted to see behind the bench and that's Barry Trotz. The Canucks stand a snow ball chance in hell of that ever happening.
  17. You've wanted to fire every coach and GM as well as trade every player that's worn a Canuck jersey, so, what else is new?
  18. I don't want to see any former coaches, former GM's or, former players, ever on this roster. What's with this certain part of our fanbase and their desire for this?
  19. We live on "higher" ground, and we can't believe how saturated our property is. I haven't been to Burnaby Lake since Monday, but I can imagine the water is pouring into it, and will be for awhile.
  20. True story. I've lived in Burnaby for almost 45 years. Today, I noticed my neighbours driveway was flooded as I attempted to put their yard waste container and recycling box back into their carport. As I was taking the box back, I spoke with the Bby employee who picked up the box. I showed him the driveway/carport area and he suggested I call the City. Stating that they will assist some private residences if there is a huge issue. So I did. Not 45 minutes later my doorbell rang, it was the City and they were already at work at the neighbours home. Two employees worked on the sump for about an hour, and got the water level down so the owners (who by now had arrived home from work) could get into their home. They actually loaned the sump pump to use overnight, and as of now, things are going fine, and the water level is holding so they can at least get into their home. Thank a City employee, they do go above and beyond. When I hear of all the one shoveling while others stand around and watch, this isn't what I witnessed today.
  21. You don't understand hockey, and what does a goalpost and getting points mean?
