I, among others was trashing Ron Francis and his choices during the expansion draft. He turned them into draft picks through trades and did it the right way. Vegas did the same. Saying that, compare the players available to what the Canucks got in 1970 and it's not even close. The teams that were allowing Seattle and Vegas to pounce were doing so because of cap issues, plain and simple. How many picks does Seattle have this year? They're still reaping the benefits of that expansion draft, plus didn't they get a plum pick in the amateur draft as well?

It's a history that many of us that are old enough to remember, how that all played out. The CBC gave the Leafs and Habs broadcasting rights, so when Vancouver applied to become a franchise the money from that contract made it a non negotiable situation. Vancouver had to wait and watch the California Golden Seals play in the Cow Palace. Yeah, I remember '67.

Ben Hutton got drilled in the nose during the LV/Coilers game, and the pxp guys were going on about why is it a double minor? He was leaking pretty badly might have been the first clue. Isn't it ironic that Ben Hutton is still playing in the NHL after the Canucks decided he wasn't good enough for them?

I went to a game in your cool city in '11. The Leafs were up on their feet booing the Canucks and heckling them like crazy. The score was 3-0 early in the first. AV pulled Luongo, and Andrew Raycroft took over. The Canucks won 5-3 as the twins and Burrows put on a hockey clinic. The few of us Canuck fans that were there drowned out the "go Leafs go" chants with MVP, MVP for Hank. I always will have a hate for that team and the franchise. Tell me, what's it like to not get to a cup final since 1967? At least the Canucks have been to 3 in their history. The current Leaf team isn't built for playoff hockey at all. No defense and no NHL calibre goalie. Plus, if a team, which the Cats did, shut down the core of the Leafs, who's going to score, let alone defend?

2022-23 Abbotsford Canucks Thread

Both games that I went to in Abby, the ice seemed slanted when the Hoglander line was on the ice. He is a "for sure" NHL player. In fact didn't Pearson call him the real deal in his rookie season? Karlsson scored a goal in one of the games I saw and he is a big body. When the big team called Phil Di, I thought he would play a few games as a filler then get sent down, but he stuck. So, there is hope that at least a few of these Abby guys that will make camp interesting. I, for one would like to see Woo get a shot, and hopefully Brisbois comes into camp knowing that he can play at the NHL level. -

Honest opinions, how many of these kids are going to get a good look at training camp this fall? I've watched two games live this season, not nearly enough at all, but more than a few of them have stood out in a positive way. This playoff run might be the best thing that could have ever happened to this Canuck organization. -

Another Trump MAGA policy that's completely failed. Banks loaning Musk et al mortgages near 1%. How the US of A manages to be the beacon of light is beyond me. Only for the well connected, and mega wealthy. -

What, Colliton is the Canuck farm team coach, not the Flames.
