  1. It would really be interesting to be a fly on the wall in Arizona.

It has to be the most unique organization in the league and in a unique situation. I guess Armstrong is corporate enough to deal with having god awful working conditions as compared to his counterparts in other organizations. Like it can't be an attractive job even for someone desperate to enter sports management.

Reminds me of the movie Moneyball when Billy (Brad Pitt) has a meeting with the owner who tells him there is no more money to invest in the roster. This is followed by Billy graphically explaining to his scouting staff just how much worse they are than even their closest comparable teams.

I don't think this Billy has the same masterplan in his back pocket.

  2. Pretty incredible to reflect about the impact he's had on the game. Some of those clips will forever make the hairs on the back of my neck go up and I am not even a Sabres fan.

Absolute icon, incredible career and the love and passion he always showed. We should all be grateful for the moments he helped create and forever cemented in history.

  3. I thought Sven did more for the Canucks than he usually get's credit for. Maybe I'm wrong but it feels like he get's lumped in with the likes of Goldobin and Vey and I think he was a clear step above.

I'll never understand how he was drafted where he was. He never had a single thing that stood out. Just a lot of average without any separation skills. Seems like a cool dude though.

Jersey is getting sole good deals on these contracts.    Cheap veteran short term contracts to support the kids.

Turns out you don’t need to spend $3-4 million AAV on multi year deals to flesh out the bottom of your roster.

    … who knew?

You got to actually be a good team to get those privilege's!

Don't know for sure, but I don't think he's directly with the Canucks... as of now. He will be coaching Orebro, where D Petey played last year. Lekkerimaki will also be joining the team this year, so suspect they are just furthering the working relationship with Hedberg since he will be coaching 2 important prospects for us?

You're right. Now I also understand a question I couldn't really make out what it was when it was asked to D-Petey.

    Thanks!

Johan Hedberg in the green shirt. I have this memory of Hedberg being a Dallas Star for many years but it was just one I guess

I was just about to post about Hedberg being there as well.

Does anyone know if he is involved with the Canucks in any capacity?

He's been working as a head coach over in Sweden.

No way they rest Silvos as a backup to Demko..

but he will be Demkos replacement to injury .

Martin will be backup to Demko and Silovs at the NHL level.

Until Silovs bumps Demko out which I think could happen next season.

almost certain of this progression after Silovs performance at the international level.

The only thing that could change this is they want to make Silovs the #1 this season,.  And get a great return and drop cap space by moving Demko.  But I doubt this scenario.

Silovs is a decent goalie prospect. I love the positivity but this is not a realistic view. He's not close to bumping anyone, especially not a proven starter like Demko out of the league.

Silovs can perhaps develop into a 1b type of goalie and there is nothing wrong with that. Canucks found value in him and he's developed since he was drafted.

We are lucky to have such quality in net with Demko. Silovs has a much lower ceiling.

Quote from Chris Faber of Canucks Army:

"We spoke with Mynio and Brzustewics while the Canucks were on the clock for 105 and 107. Both were very excited to be selected by the Canucks. Mynio was born in Kamloops but rooted for the Oilers growing up — he has now changed to rooting for the Canucks, obviously. As for Brzustewics, he told us that he is a big Lego fan and actually built a six-foot-long Titanic recently".

    What a bunch of nerds
