Yes, but i presume he has an NHL out. That doesn't mean he has to play in the NHL either but means that he has an out to sign with an NHL organization.
-
LK has been presented by Skellefteå AIK in the SHL and has signed a contract throughout the 22/23 season. I am extremely pleased with his choice of his next club and his next step in his development. He is joining one of the best teams in the SHL. Quote from Erik Forsell, I guess he is the equivalent of a GM for Skellefteå: I believe so too.

Similar to F1, I hope teams can file complaints against other teams circumventing the rule book. Speculation is enough to warrant an investigation to be launched. Would be interesting if it were allowed. Can't say i have gone through the NHL rulebook in terms of stuff like this.
-
According to eltieprospects he has a contract until the end of this season. I could see the Canucks signing him and then loaning him to an SHL team.

It feels like we are kinda de-railing the Karlsson talk here, but why in your mind does Dahlen need AHL conditioning now? Like you are pointing out, he has already spent time with two different AHL teams and he is a better player today than he was then. It's not like he has become worse by being the star of the 2nd league in Sweden and doing it with a big smile on his face close to home with family and friends. The rule you are saying exists does not exist in my mind. Either you are good enough to play in the NHL or you are not. Can playing in the AHL, the development league for the NHL, help players get to that point? certainly. Is it absolutely necessary? certainly not. His dad is a former NHLer. I am sure Dahlen knows what's best for his career.

Yes sure, except for Filip Forsberg and Jesper Bratt who made the jump from Allsvenskan to the NHL straight away.
-
Tell that to Elias Pettersson, Filip Forsberg, William Nylander, Jesper Bratt and Andre Burakovsky among many more Swedish NHL players. Allsvenskan certainly is a great place for young players to develop. The difference between Allsvenskan and the SHL isn't as big as the difference between the AHL and the NHL.

Dahlen plays for Timrå because of his love for the club and not because he likes to take it "easy" in the 2nd tier. I admire him for that and so do most of the hockey world in Sweden. I think in his mind he just prefers to play for a club that he has a bond with rather than riding the bus in the A. I can't blame him for it. Why not be a hometown hero? Speaking of which, Linus Karlsson has been a big part of one of the best, if not the best lines in the entire league. He's really progressed over the last few seasons and I have enjoyed his game when I have gotten a chance to see him. Him and his team have a game 7 tonight and if they win that game they will face Dahlens Timrå. A nice little story for someone who happens to be a Canucks fan In terms of upside between the two, I think Linus Karlsson is more likely to carve out a career in the NHL as a bottom sixer. I think Dahlen may come over to NA for another shot at it but his game and skill level does itself better for a league like the KHL. I guess I can compare him to Gaudette. Not skilled enough for a legit top 6 role while not physical or defensively sound enough for a bottom six role. Saying all this, Linus remains a long-shot to ever play in the NHL. I think he will get offers from SHL teams this summer. If he does well, we might see a 22/23 year old rookie in Utica.

[Proposal] Rumours about Schmidt and Miller
DeltaSwede replied to Provost's topic in Proposals and Armchair GM'ing
I think it's always healthy to discuss your players with other teams. Doesn't mean you make a deal but an overpayment is always an overpayment - see Mantha to WSH. This season isn't the season to blow up a team (unless you are Buffallo). J.T Miller has arguably been our best player since he was acquired and Schmidt is a giant on defense that I still believe we have more to get out of. Don't sell him off before we know what we truely have. I like They are two of our veteran players that are actually attractive to other teams so it's not weird that teams are calling about them. -
Feels like I'm just repeating what everyone else is saying but yea, they have a plan in place otherwise this wouldn't happen. Not a huge fan of either the term or caphit on the Pearson deal but I can live with it. It's not a crazy contract by any means. He brings a lot to the table when his and his teammates game is on. I haven't seen much of that this year.

[trade] Palmieri and Zajac to Islanders
DeltaSwede replied to qwijibo's topic in Trades, Rumours, Signings
From what I remember from early on in his draft year and the year prior he was very highly touted. It was just my own take at the time from watching some of his games. The Canucks were in huge need of a future #1 C and in my view, Barzal definitley had that type of ceiling and was much better than some of the prospects drafted before him. Can't really complain when you end up with Brock Boeser at 23. We got our #1 C in the draft 2 years later. Wouldn't change a thing in hindsight. Button wants to be different. He has his own take on prospects and is not afraid to show it by his rankings. Not really my go to guy for prospects but always appreciate his take on things. Sometimes it's a good marker for who not to pick. Oh yes. Picks 16-19 was Matt Barzal, Kyle Connor and Thomas Chabot. The 3 picks after Boston had 3 picks in a row. Boston ended up with Zach Senyshyn, Jakob Zboril, and Jake DeBrusk. That's an ouchie ouch if I've ever seen one. -
[trade] Palmieri and Zajac to Islanders
DeltaSwede replied to qwijibo's topic in Trades, Rumours, Signings
Great move by the Isles here. Two players that definitley play a good to great two-way game. Zaj is old but he can still do it in the dot and be effective. If you don't look at CapFriendly they are one of my "favorite" teams in the NHL. Just solidly built. I remember when I was pissed the Canucks didn't trade up to get Matt Barzal at #16. Something a long the lines off "If you have a chance at drafting a future #1 center from B.C when you are the Vancouver Canucks, you make that happen" - have to also mention that I have more bad takes than good takes when it comes to prospects. In my eyes there was no reason at all for Barzal slipping out of the top 5 in that draft. -
It's such a difficult thing to wrap your head around. It's a truly extraordinary situation for the Canucks and the NHL are finding themselves in. The logical and most common sense answer is that the Canucks will forfeit their remaining games and their season will be shutdown. I can't support forcing these guys to put themselves out there again this year. If the players WANT to play, let them play. How they solve the final point totals is also unimportant for me at this point. I would be fine with it being solved by some sort of simulation based on winning percentage and/or previous record vs teams in the division. Somebody smarter than me can figure that one out. It would be super Canucks-esque to also be forced to forfeit their chance at winning the draft lottery if they don't finish their season. We have to forget about the sport for a minute and just focus on the people and individuals involved. I agree with the use of the word "inhumane" in this context. 100% of the team will not be 100% healthy even after they all are negative. It's just an ugly ugly situation. It's not even just the physical aspect of it but also the mental repercussions of getting the virus. I don't want to watch these guys start playing and panting on the bench, struggling to finish their shifts and lose games 9-1. Why make them do that after what they have been through?

[Waivers] Lucas Wallmark, Tanner Kero
DeltaSwede replied to -Vintage Canuck-'s topic in Trades, Rumours, Signings
Wasn't there some talk about the Canucks being interested in Tanner Kero at some point over the last few seasons? -
Do we have a new best name in hockey? https://www.eliteprospects.com/player/364032/gunnarwolfe-fontaine

I think he should stay for another season. We already have a lot of depth on wing throughout the organization and I'd rather see him continue develop his offensive game rather than being on the 3rd or 4th line in the AHL.
-
I think your theory is farfetched but you do however raise another discussion. Is this is the last we see of the current management group (i.e this season). That is probably highly likely. It's professional sports. If you don't win, you're out. New GM leads to a new coach. I'd be more comfortable with losing Benning than I would Green but it most likely means both.

[Report] Penguins GM Jim Rutherford resigns
DeltaSwede replied to -Vintage Canuck-'s topic in General Hockey Discussion
I guess this makes Allvin the first Swedish born GM in NHL history. -
A spotty track record for later rounds (in the draft i presume you're saying) is actually really good. Benning and co. draft record in later rounds is above average at least and that's being modest. Thought that was a pretty funny way of putting it. Spotty drafting in later rounds. You're happy you get someone who sniffs NHL game time from the 3rd round and on. Steve Yzerman? Seriously? The guy gave up the best possible GM position in the league to go back "home" to Detroit and you think that any team, let alone Vancouver, could entice him to their team? Seriously? He voluntarily left the best position for the worst position in the league. He built a Stanley Cup winner and didn't even stick around to watch his work come into fruition.. But yea, Aqua man, why weren't you in Stevies ear? The only good thing about the Canucks being in a slump is the entertainment value it provides by us fans and your post really amused me.
-
Are you suggesting that Benning should have traded Markstrom? He is paying more for Nate Schmidt because he's better than Tanev and also younger. He got a top pairing defender for a third round pick and you call it a complete failure. I don't mean to be disrespectful but that might be one of the wildest takes I've read on these forums.
