  1. This is really surprising to me but I thought it would hit harder than it actually does. I never really chalked this up as an option but it does make sense. Hope he goes unclaimed.
  2. I've got a bunch of colleagues that have been part of very successful projects while doing very little during those projects if you catch my drift. Not saying that applies to Guerin, it's just, he's not really been a part of any discussions of "the next big" thing in management. I guess I'm just surprised by the move.
  3. Absolutely. I just can't see Bill Guerin being the best available option out there.
  4. Really happy to see Higgy back and the Canucks working on improving their player development department.
  5. I think the Canucks could use some inspiration when it comes to the organization off the ice. That's what Gillis brought when he was GM here. I'm looking at a player development department that probably has failed their mission to develop players within the organization and with the Utica Comets. Other teams are ahead of the Canucks when it comes to this and it could sure use an update and a few new hirings. Expand the amount of coaches and roles. We are lucky that we could afford things like that and gain an advantage over other teams in the NHL.
  6. When Myers signed I also thought about the same thing, but I've changed my mind with time. Sorry to single you out. Myers is a good signing but he is certainly stronger in the offensive zone than his own. The defensive side of things is his weakness. Now, Quinn is quite similar. Both not incompetent in their own zone but certainly not the strongest side of their game. Edler - Myers (Eagle more defensive, worked really well with Ehrhoff) Hughes - Tanev (Best defensive defensemen paired with the best offensive defensemen on the team) Benn - Stecher (Super solid bottom pairing on both sides of the rink) I really like the potential of our d-corps barring any major injuries. Hughes will have the biggest impact for next year.
  7. Annoyed my colleagues about the Canucks all day today, none of them are really hockey fans, that's how excited this makes me. What Jim and the rest of the staff have accomplished so far this offseason should get every Canuck fan excited for next season. Now, time to trim some of that extra fat and we are looking at the very least like a bubble team come playoff time.
  8. Henri Jokiharju to me is a much better player today and in the future. Good trade by Buffalo.
  9. One thing that I have been thinking about ever since the Myers to the Canucks talk started coming out, was what it means for the future of Chris Tanev and the Canucks. As we are all aware of, the Canucks gave up a conditional 1st in the Miller trade which leads me into thinking if there is something to read between the lines here. If the Canucks don't make the playoffs this year they will be forced to give up their 2021 1st round pick to the lightning. It also means they will most likely be shopping their upcoming UFAs to playoff teams, in this case, Chris Tanev. I see two scenarios: 1. Canucks miss playoffs this year, trade Tanev (and other rentals) for picks in the 2021 draft to compensate for the 1st going to Tampa 2. Canucks make the playoffs, re-sign Tanev Am I crazy?
  10. Since the Canucks got Ian Clark back, I've got full confidence in any signings in terms of goalies. If they see something they like in this guy, I like this guy. Also, the ECHL (unlike for forwards and defensemen) is actually a good developmental league for goalies. Wouldn't worry at all about adding another guy to the mix.
  11. I've seen that he's actually better playing on the right side.
  12. Maybe I'm the boring guy here but jesus, when will people just stop the sarcasm in these depth signing threads. It's in every single thread for every single team in every single sport. It's like hearing your dad crack his christmas joke, only 15 times, in every thread similar to this. Is it the sports worlds "first" comment? Nice depth signing. I have liked every single move the Canucks have done today, which is kinda unbelievable in itself on a day like this. He's a good AHLer that can fill in when injuries start piling up. So, is he lining up on the left wing of Petey or Bo?
  13. Glad the Canucks stayed clear if it's north of 2.5 mil.
  14. Like everyone else is saying, this is a great signing if those numbers are legit. Can almost guarantee that Hutton will get paid more than that. I really like what the Canucks [might] accomplish in free agency this year. So, when are we signing Brock? Surprised there hasn't been more talk about this.
  15. Alright, I'll admit it, I'm being lazy now but looking through 130 pages to find what I'm looking for is a bit rich for me right now. Anyone got a good idea on how this impacts the Canucks heading into the expansion draft? Regarding the trade itself, i winged when the details first came out about the conditional first, but I'm starting to warm up to the idea of this trade and actually think it's ok. It's ok IF the Canucks make the playoffs in 2021 or even next year. It's certainly a gamble but sometimes you need to take a gamble to be successful.
  16. This is a pick to get excited about! I had no idea what direction the Canucks were going and I certainly didn't expect to end up with Podkolzin. I was very very high on him early on in the year but shifted my focus to other prospects as the year went by. Will be super interesting to follow his development the next few years. A statement by Benning and the rest of the staff.
  17. Much better pictures found here: https://50thcollection.canucks.com/ Home: Away: Third:
  18. Elias Pettersson was drafted out of the same league.
  19. I wonder if everyone on here will get the reference. I know that Kinder Surprise are illegal in America. Now I'm enjoying thinking about what you reading this who has never heard or seen a Kinder Surprise before is thinking it is. The fact that I just said it is illegal adds to the intrigue.
