[Report] Benn Wants out of Dallas
DeltaSwede replied to Provost's topic in Trades, Rumours, Signings
If it is true, I'm really surprised that he would want out of Dallas. "Income tax"- BizNasty -
I think it's over 90% likely that Olli starts in the AHL next year simply because of the magnitude of his current injury. It's what's best for him and the Canucks in the long-term. Even if he looks like he belongs in training camp, I still think he will start in the A. Absolutley nothing wrong with that.

Zacha is terrible and plays as a winger for NJ. He's kinda like Pouliot for us. Nobody in that organization will be sad to see him lose his spot to someone elser so NJ are in as much need of a center as any team. Teams will always pick the center over a winger if all else is equal. Much easier for a center to move out to the wing than the other way around. Running a Hughes and Hischier down the middle for the next 15 years is what they want. They are not going to move the first overall. No way.

My advise would be to stay far away from Kaliyev at 10. He's too slow, rumours about character issues and he disappears in the playoffs.

I just want them to make the stripes thicker (like Calgary's 3rds) and remove the word mark. sick.

[Speculation] Keith Gretzky to VAN for President?
DeltaSwede replied to CRAZY_4_NAZZY's topic in Canucks Talk
I honestly wouldn't be opposed to this. I'm a big sports fan like most of us probably are who spend any time posting about sports on a forum. There are a lot of examples of sports people stepping out of a "loser culture" type of situation and flourish in another and become winners. Or people coming out of nowhere or a much lower level. What we don't have compared to Benning or whoever is involved in this type of hiring is a chance to get to know the person. Get to hear their philosophies and visions. Sure Keith Gretzky is a part of the Oilers organization right now but I'm sure even that organization has good sports people in it. It doesn't mean that he automatically is a complete no go is what I'm trying to say. What I think is massively underrated in any organization is synergy. I don't mean that everyone should agree with each other and be on the same side of every decision but if you have a good relationship, you are often more honest and straight to the point as well. That's how good decisions are made. Everyone is comfortable with any situation and you are confident enough to tell the other guy, listen, you are wrong or even say, you are right I am wrong. None of us know how he has behaved during his time with the Oilers. Maybe he was the one saying "jesus christ guys, it's Mikko, we can't go 4 freaking years" and maybe he wasn't. I'm not saying Keith Gretzky should be hired or that he is some sort of messiah - I'd just like the Canucks to turn every stone to find what they believe is the best person for the positition. He might not even be in the discussions. -
Swedish Newspaper: "The fear of Elias Leaving"
DeltaSwede replied to Salming's topic in Canucks Talk
This is one of those click bait crap articles that this news outlet in Sweden spews out every day. When Max Lapierre signed with MoDo (and when anyone else from N.A signs with a SHL club for that matter, see TJ Hensick) the headline was "NHL super star signs with SHL club" -
I love Boldy but there are so many good prospects in this crop it will be difficult to make a bad decision.
-
Can't believe I just saw someone say that Luc Bourdon was an unsuccessful pick... gross We are getting a good player at 10 here. I am guessing the Canucks will have a chance at any of Boldy, Krebs, Zegras, and Soderstrom, I'd be happy with any of those guys. Stay away from Kaliyev.

If the Canucks are picking at 8, I would love to see them pick Matt Boldy if he is left on the board. Love his game the more I see of it. Tough to play against, 200 foot player with fantastic hockey IQ. To me he seems to fit the Jim Benning profile. It would be a really good piece for the future and would bring something to the prospect pool that we don't really have right now. Just a very good player. Versatile, Big, Technical. I've seen him ranked as high as #3 and I can see why. Mock (not my rankings): 1. Colorado - Jack Hughes 2. Los Angeles - Kaapo Kakko 3. New Jersey - Bowen Byram 4. Detroit - Dylan Cozens 5. Buffalo - Alex Turcotte 6. New York - Vasily Podkolzin 7. Anaheim - Kirby Dach 8. Vancouver - Matthew Boldy 9. Edmonton - Trevor Zegras 10. Chicago - Victor Söderström

Canucks are at 48/50 contracts right now. Kid deserves it.

You're right that Juolevi doesn't have zero value but his value right now is possibly the lowest it's ever been considering the extent of his injury. There are a lot of question marks regarding the future of his career. It would be wiser to let him heal up, come back to Utica next season, give him a showing in the NHL, and let his value recoup. Asset management and all that. What if he's fantastic? Well that's great, we are either keeping him or we are trading him for an equally impressive player in a position of need. What I mean by giving up on him, is that you are saying we should move him out for quite a lacklustre return when we have time on our side to see if he can become the player he was drafted to become or if he can at least bounce back and increase his trade value if that's the direction they decide to go in. He is 20 years old, we forget about that. Had 13 points in 18 AHL games before his season ended. There is plenty of upside there but we need to be patient. The Oilers and Puljujarvi is a similar situation but very different at the same time. Both players have lower trade value today than they were when they got drafted. Canucks have time on their hands when it comes to Juolevi while the Oilers may have a player and agent asking to get the hell out.
-
Why give up on Juolevi now? Seems like the worst possible timing considering his injury and what it does to his current trade value. The kid was doing more than ok in the AHL before it got cut short because of surgery. He might take a little longer but he's a lock to be an NHLer and it's likely he will be a top 4. Back on topic, a lot of guys I like this year so I keep changing my really amateur top 10 Hughes Kakko Podkolzin Cozens Byram Boldy Turcotte Dach Krebs Broberg HM: Zegras, Harley, Kaliyev

Not sure why we are talking about toughness so much. It was lacking with Gudbranson on the ice who failed to show it just like Archibald failed to show it. We can replace these type of players very easily in free agency in the summer for much less money. Why complain when there is nothing to complain about? Is it nostalgia? Listen, Gudbranson is a great guy and a man rocket, he was awful for us on the ice. This gives more opportunity to other defensemen (who can't be much worse) and we get a project player in a position we needed. Give McKewan a few more looks doesn't bother me whatsoever. Both him and Sautner have showed more toughness than Guddy or Archibald has ever brought.

I was looking up some mock drafts and they have all pretty much got Brett Leason going in the 23-30 range. You gotta think he get's picked before that..
-
Nope.

Always take BPA. Saying that, Kappo Kakko. Not based on this tournament.

What a tournament for Madden so far! Kid looks great
