  1. Looks like Rodin is returning to Brynäs for next season. Tough break with injuries
  2. Off-topic. Trading Hutton for a draft pick makes no sense. If you have this opinion, although entitled to it, it's plain and simply just wrong. There is no way around it. Hutton is a young proven NHL commodity who is still just starting his development at this level, you don't trade that for a lottery ticket player with several years behind on development without any guarantees. Fine, if you must trade him, you trade him for a young forward who has had similar success and projects to be of equal value in the future as well.
  3. Yea it's a real toss up between them all. The only real difference between those players is personal preference. Picking early this year guarantees you pick your favorite out of a pretty substantial group of players of similar value/skill. I have my preferences. Someone else will have others. You can make a case for a lot of players to go in the top 10 this year
  4. 1. Patrick 2. Hischier 3. Mittelstadt 4. Vilardi 5. Liljegren 6. Pettersson 7. Necas 8. Makar 9. Tippett 10. Glass
  5. It's the offensive instincts that has made me really high on him. I mean, this is not the most modest scout report out there but.. come on. He's got dynamic offensive instincts that I have a tough time not licking my chops over.
  6. You gotta love Casey Mittelstadt. Definitely a player I have in my top 5 with his name highlighted. After Patrick and Hischier, he's my pick.
  7. Not surprised if that's the case. Seemed to be the narrative that i've been hearing all along from JB and co. He could use another year in the NCAA to be honest even with how impressive his season has been. He'll sign when he signs.
  8. Just your ole neighborhood swede over here. Imagine the "e" sound you say when saying "electricity" and extend that "e" sound for an extra second. "Eeeeh-lectricity" now everybody! "Eeeh" "Dahl-eeh-n"
  9. Can gladly admit I know next to nothing about this guy but from what I've heard he's got strong offensive instincts and is good on the puck. That's something our prospect pool has needed
  10. Brock has good player, signing hims is guud. iDubbz? That 2nd goal is impressive nonetheless
  11. Yea, it's gonna be a tough 13-16 years of having the exact same tactics for the powerplay. Dumb draft pick considering our PP.
  12. Yea departing straight for free agency that is!! Excited about this kid. I hope he get's a chance to get his feet wet in the AHL before we throw him into the snake pit that is the NHL.
  13. How about we at least let him play out his first season of being eligible to even play in the AHL as the barest of minimals? Hes 20 years old.
  14. Are you trying to make that sound like a bad thing?
  15. It's not a big question mark.
  16. I actually feel that this would be a solid approach. Obviously you want a 6th overall pick to produce some points for you but in order for any points to be put on the board, Jake needs to be playing in the NHL in the first place. Quickest way to get there and stay there is develop a solid 200ft game. The points can come later if that's the case. Simply put, Jake needs to step up to a whole new level than what we have seen before and I really hope he is up for it. I've never doubted his talent, but sadly, his commitment hasn't been there and there is no way to dance around it. Canucks need Jake Virtanen to become Jake Virtanen if that makes sense?
  17. It won't take Juolevi 4 years to make it to the NHL. Talent wise he could have played on our 3rd pairing this season. Canucks are in a very good situation moving forwards where they can allow Juolevi to develop properly without rushing him into the NHL. Olli needs to get physically ready and has now got the opportunity to do so. The success of a draft pick isn't decided on how long it takes to make it into the NHL, but rather how well that player does when he enters the league. First to make it, doesn't make that the best player. If it takes Juolevi 4 years to make it into the NHL and he comes in and is our #1 for 13 seasons.. are we complaining. My prediction? Juolevi has a huge summer after an already impressive season in London. Comes in, plays 9 games, impresses the hell out of a lot of people, get's sent back due to depth, has another great season, comes back and makes the team the next season. When I watch him play, there is a certain aura the surrounds him, I don't know if anyone else has that feeling. Even though his style of play is quite anonymous, he's still so noticeable out there when you look at the details in his game.
  18. Virtanen was the big headline hometown hero pick.. wrong or right. McCann was a player that was ranked higher than his final selection, a BPA type of situation. Next defensemen selected was Dominik Masin by Tampa, 11 picks later. Boeser they were really high on and had him a lot higher. There is video of JB at the draft saying quite early on in the 1st round that there is no way Boeser was going to drop to them. When he was available at 23, the Canucks picked a player they could have possibly had in their own top 10.
  19. To elaborate a little, here are some more quotes from Cap'n Olli.
  20. Juolevi post game comments (*double translated*, Finish->Swedish->English)
  21. I seriously have no idea. I don't think I've ever had it, unless I just thought it was a cold or something. I had a friend who missed school for 3 weeks and couldn't play sports for 4 months after that.. I guess it varies in severity?
  22. Sports hernia can only be dangerous in the long-term if the appropriate amount of rest is not administered. I don't think it will hurt his career in the long-term and what he has accomplished in the past is really impressive. If it was another type of injury, I'd be concerned as well, but it's not the type of injury (I believe) that is reoccurring, unless it is mishandled. I'm still not sold on Hischier developing into a dominant 1st liner at the NHL level and am a little worried he will end up being a player that plays a supportive role. Patrick, I feel, has the makings of a 1st line center that plays in all possible situations. I just feel that Patrick has the potential to be more dominant than Hischier at the NHL level. It's not like I have a lot between them either and a substantial part of me is hoping the Canucks don't end up with the first overall pick and have the decision made for them by whoever picks 1st. 6 months ago everyone were raving about Liljegren, and now that he has had mono, all of a sudden he's not the same player anymore, and doesn't have the same ceiling. I think that's the case for Patrick. Spend a little time out of the spotlight and people forget how good they really are.
  23. It's only because he missed a lot of games because he had mono. No. Salo is quite a popular last name in Finland.
