  1. Sports hernia can only be dangerous in the long-term if the appropriate amount of rest is not administered. I don't think it will hurt his career in the long-term and what he has accomplished in the past is really impressive. If it was another type of injury, I'd be concerned as well, but it's not the type of injury (I believe) that is reoccurring, unless it is mishandled. I'm still not sold on Hischier developing into a dominant 1st liner at the NHL level and am a little worried he will end up being a player that plays a supportive role. Patrick, I feel, has the makings of a 1st line center that plays in all possible situations. I just feel that Patrick has the potential to be more dominant than Hischier at the NHL level. It's not like I have a lot between them either and a substantial part of me is hoping the Canucks don't end up with the first overall pick and have the decision made for them by whoever picks 1st. 6 months ago everyone were raving about Liljegren, and now that he has had mono, all of a sudden he's not the same player anymore, and doesn't have the same ceiling. I think that's the case for Patrick. Spend a little time out of the spotlight and people forget how good they really are.
  2. It's only because he missed a lot of games because he had mono. No. Salo is quite a popular last name in Finland.
  3. How I would rank the prospects now from a Canucks pov. 1. Patrick 2. Hischier 3. Liljegren 4. Vilardi 5. Mittelstadt 6. Tolvanen
  4. I think the surgery is so minor that the potential complications are highly limited. If anything, his wrist will get stronger than it was before and that makes me believe he'll have even more room for development. I always try to keep my expectations as low as possible in terms of prospects because it's important to be patient and not expect immediate impact, with Boeser it's tough not to expect him to come in and look like a fairly accomplished player already. It's going to be really neat to see both Stecher and Boeser playing together again. They both seem to be the type of players that just love the game of hockey and spend most of their time just having fun. If Boeser can equal the work ethic of Stecher, combined with his talent, the Canucks no doubt have a very, very good young player coming into the fold. Boeser has got the potential to be a 30-35 goal scorer. Possibly peaking for a few seasons at an even higher number. He certainly projects, when looking at his junior numbers and college numbers, to be in company with some very good NHLers. He's gone through a lot of adversities and seems to be that classical "character guy". Super stoked on him.
  5. spot on. I'm not going to lie, when Boeser was picked I let out a sigh because I was hoping for a defender and I don't follow the USHL at all. Couldn't be happier with the pick, he's incredibly talented.
  6. It's not a question about Gardiner being garbage, he's a top 4 defender and he's had a good season. I don't think he holds more trade value than Tanev, at all. Leaf fans should and would gladly take Tanev for Gardiner. Easy trade for them to make. Why Tanev is more valuable: Right handed Top pairing not a middle pair like Gardiner He's an elite shutdown defensemen More consistent performer over a longer sample period He carries his partner, Gardiner needs to be carried He's got a year longer on his fantastic contract (4.5 a year for a top pairing guy), Gardiner will get a pay-rise earlier and is already at 4 mil per. This is a post regarding Reilly vs. Tanev and why Tanev is better than Reilly. Reilly is clearly better than Gardiner. This is from a Leafs fan. Anyways, let's let this thread be about Boeser now! I bet you got some great stories about Tanev from your co-workers!
  7. Wrong moment to try to put down Canucks fans. Jake Gardiner is not near as good as Tanev, whatever your hero chart says. By the way, hero charts are pretty useless to begin with.. Boeser playing as well as he did at the beginning of the season while having issues with his wrist makes it even more impressive.
  8. It's about time I make some changes to my signature.
  9. An arm injury. Other than that he has been great.
  10. Thatcher is quite the impressionist. Had me laughing pretty good!
  11. No.. no it's not. He'll get signed after this season. Possibly spend some time in the AHL but there is no way it will take 4 seasons beyond this one for him to play in the NHL like you are suggesting. He had a tremendous rookie season at UND and began this season with the same dominance. Sure playing with Schwartz and Caggiula helped his point totals, but those totals don't seem to be going down this season when he's playing without them. An arm injury has slowed down his production but all indications are that he will return to being an above ppg player when he is 100%. This year is really beneficial for him because he needs to be the go to guy for UND. Before his arm issues, he played like he was that type of guy and will probably be that guy for the rest of the season. He's a bluechip prospect. You need to do your homework if you think otherwise. ..and no, nobody sane is expecting 30 goals from Boeser in his rookie season.
  12. Not even worth picking up the phone for that.
  13. Heres to hoping it's a red one and not a blue one.
  14. Yea sorry, just tried to get the Guillaume Brisebois thread back to discussing Guillaume Brisebois instead of discussing whether or not Etem should be a Comet or not. Always fun to see Canuck prospects in the WJC.
  15. So we should just keep recycling old players that we know haven't worked out in the past instead of giving a chance to new faces or other prospects? I was all for Etem going down to Utica, and you are both right, he would have been good depth. At what point do you just move on to a new project? I'd say a good time would be when another team claims the player. There is one open contract space available for a player that could potentially make an impact. Etem just had a kid, he get's to move back to cali, maybe the Canucks felt like moving on and allowing Etem to do the same? Screw having Brisebois in the AHL next season. Let's sign Stanton and trade for Corrado.
  16. Sometimes a chapter comes to an end and you move on to the next one. Etem was done in Vancouver when Anaheim claimed him. You want the Canucks to claim Corrado if the Leafs decide to actually do something with him?
  17. Etem was claimed on waivers on his way down to Utica. McCann was traded, would have been on the Canucks roster if he wasn't Forsling is in the NHL right now. Traded for a player that was closer to NHL ready, who is currently playing in the NHL as well. How exactly are they even relevant to your argument? Megna and Chaput could all help Utica a lot right now, but they are too busy filling in for injuries Utica was in the finals like 2 seasons ago and AHL teams usually swing up and down way more than NHL teams do
  18. The kid is fantastic. I really hope he turns into something significant. Love the way he plays with high energy, pace, skill and tenacity. He's hungry on the puck and has a great forecheck. Shout out to the USHL/NCAA scouting department.
  19. Just heard it from a poster over at HFboards, he follows UND regularly so took it at face value.
  20. Apparently he's injured, been playing with a brace on his hand/arm.
  21. *** Please, everybody, for the 284th time, ALL indications point to Boeser signing after this season. That's his plan and the Canucks plan for him as well. 99.999%. College players that are drafted are UFA's after 4 years. Boeser will be signed after his 2nd year. ***
  22. Love what I am seeing! Knew absolutely nothing about him when he was picked, so very surprised he's been doing as good as he is. Very encouraging
  23. Jesus christ no. That package to gain 4 years in age on a player that may never be as good as Tanev?
