  1. "Brock-tober!" Boeser wins NCHC Player of the Month. http://www.undsports.com/ViewArticle.dbml?SPSID=58684&SPID=6405&DB_LANG=C&ATCLID=211268391&DB_OEM_ID=13500 NCHC press release: http://www.undsports.com/pdf9/5055509.pdf What a guy.
  2. I have no idea where you are getting your stats from but that is way off if you are talking about Liljegren. Timothy Liljegren career totals: Hlinka Memorial: 5 1 3 4 0.80 2 -1 | International-Jr: 33 9 15 24 0.73 10 4 | J18 Allsvenskan: 15 3 6 9 0.60 6 2 | J18 Div.1: 4 0 3 3 0.75 4 0 | J18 Elit: 15 4 7 11 0.73 2 12 | J20 Div.1: 16 1 3 4 0.25 2 0 | 3 0 0 0 0.00 2 0 SHL: 19 1 4 5 0.26 4 -7 | SuperElit: 31 9 15 24 0.77 28 24 | 3 1 2 3 1.00 0 -3 TV-Pucken: 6 5 1 6 1.00 4 0 | U16 Elit: 35 31 26 57 1.63 28 0 | U16 SM: 3 2 2 4 1.33 0 0 | WHC-17: 6 3 2 5 0.83 6 0 | WJC-18: 7 1 5 6 0.86 0 0 Doesn't take away form the fact that I believe he has got the highest ceiling going into the 2017 draft. It's true that he has spent time playing for the mens team but it wasn't throughout a full season he split time with multiple teams. He had a really busy year, so much so that he had to turn down the mens team offer of playing him after an international tournament because he felt he was "burned out". He played an insane amount of games in his 16 year old season for the U-18s, U-20s, mens, and in international tournaments for both the u-17 and u-18 squads. The team praised him for his honesty and maturity for recognising that he needed a chance to rest. All that traveling, all those different teams, coaches, places, and busy schedule would be tough for a 16 year old. I have him ranked as the best prospect for the 2017 draft. It's quite tough to get an NHL player comparison because I don't know any defender who jumps into the play quite like Liljegren. Perhaps a mix of Drew Doughty and Tj Brodie would be my comparison. Having both him and Juolevi would be a dream.
  3. Ah, I see, you have no idea what you are talking about.
  4. He could have had 2 assists if Tyson Jost would just put it in the back of the net on some great chances. Brock hit the post as well.. this kid man. Maybe I'm reading into it too much but in his post interview, it was the first time I saw his personality come out a little more than it has in the past. Seems like he is growing into his own and maturing this year.
  5. Throw Hansen in there and you got the "Honey Boo Boo" line
  6. A wrongly timed injury could open it up for Miller.
  7. I really do wonder if Brock will spend any time in the AHL or immediately be put on the NHL roster when he signs at the end of the season. I wouldn't be opposed to some games in the AHL.
  8. Can't believe I'm bringing this up, but any potential future college free agent will probably look at the success of Chris Tanev and Ben Hutton on top of Stecher. Sending Stecher down was the right move. It was the right move for his future, the right move for the organization and the right move for the other players playing for those bottom pairing spots. To allow Stecher to start off in the AHL will do wonders for his adjustment to the professional game. It will make him a better player and secure a higher chance of future success in the NHL. He seems to understand that as well according to that interview. I posted a few days back about how the Canucks should start him off in Utica with some encouraging words, and they did exactly that.
  9. I think the Canucks made the smart choice this time. Let's not get away from the fact that Vancouver has got a very good prospect in Stecher. The depth on d moving forwards is very exciting.
  10. Couldn't agree more. I think Stecher could play in the NHL this year but you also need to consider the long-term. Pedan is waiver eligible so there is a risk he is picked up if he's put on waivers but I think that is a decision management will be forced to make. I doubt he get's picked up. I think management will send Stecher to Utica with a lot of praise and the experience of playing against NHL calibre opposition that will drive him to work harder down there. Is this the deepest the defensive core has ever been for the Canucks? throughout the organization? Pros: Edler - Tanev Hutton - Gudbranson Sbisa - Larsen Tryamkin - Biega Pedan - Stecher Subban - Sautner Billins - Nilsson Cederholm - McEneny Junior: Juolevi - Brisebois Neill - Olson Candella - Stewart
  11. Gaunce looks highly determined this preseason and I would be more surprised if he starts in Utica than in Vancouver. Very encouraging to see from a guy I was starting to forget about with our new shiny toys. It's promising to see that the organization have got quite a few players knocking on the door to make the NHL team. Makes me feel more comfortable about veterans moving on as their roles can likely be filled internally.
  12. Couldn't have started his preseason any better. It's still early and we are yet to see if he can handle NHL forwards on a consistent basis in his own zone but he was nothing but impressive in the offensive zone - something the Canucks desperately need. I posted in this thread way back about how his success will depend on how well he can round out his defensive game because the offense is certainly there already. Very good first audition and am even more stoked on him now. I still think it would be beneficial for him to start off the year in Utica but if he keeps this up that might not be an option. Hoping for another Hutton story.
  13. Stecher hasn't even laced it up in the AHL yet. You don't trade your best defender in Tanev, just because we have a new shiny toy that has shown well in a prospects tournament. If we are talking about replacing players if Stecher makes the squad, we are talking about Pedan going on waivers/being traded. Not Tanev, not ever Tanev.
  14. Would be highly beneficial for him to go and play in a mens league next season. You don't have to be in a leader role on a junior team to learn about leadership, you can learn from established veteran leaders. For me, the ideal situation for him would be to go and play in the SHL, teams there are not afraid of playing young players (including the best teams in the league) and the level of competition is higher than the Finish league. Frölunda, Luleå, or Skellefteå would be ideal landing spots for him, 3 teams that have had a lot of success in the past years while playing and developing young players. He's already got experience of the N.A ice and will most likely spend time in Utica as well. Get the kid more competition and experience of playing with professionals in a more competitive environment. The SHL has been forced to become better at developing players because teams simply can't afford to go out and get the best players anymore and pay for the best players. It's become a very good developmental league and is attracting a lot of the best young talents around Europe because it's a very good league to get prepared for professional life and the NHL. Another option that would be very exciting would be for him to play for Jokerit in the KHL, which is Finlands KHL team and Juolevi's youth team. We can talk about ice time but I think if he were to play against men, any ice time he get's would be more valuable to his development than playing in Junior. Saying all of this, if it ends up being London, well that's arguably the best option in the CHL.
  15. He's not saying that. He's saying it would be unfair to compare Boeser to Tkachuk, overhyping him, whatever you want to call it.
  16. A little off-topic, but is this "da beauty league" that Brock is playing in, associated with a charity or something? Couldn't find anything on their website. I know it's in Minnesota so it could be as simple as just having an opportunity to get some on ice action but would be nice to see the guy continue his charitable ways. Just seen he's gone 50% on faceoffs. Was trusted to take a few key faceoffs for UND last season as well.
  17. Troy has got loads of potential to be real good. His skating is off the charts and has got very good offensive instincts. All he has to do is improve his defensive game and he can be an impactful NHL defender. He plays bigger than his size as well. I'm really excited for this kid, he's a lot of fun to watch and it shows he has a lot of fun out there as well.
  18. Check @Junkyard Dog's post on Page 26.
  19. I honestly think Olli Maata is the floor potential for Juolevi and that should be exciting for everyone. Juolevi is better offensively and Maata is a little better defensively but they are both very similar in other aspects. I see a lot of OEL in Juolevi's game. Warming up to this pick even more as time goes by.
  20. I'm pretty sure it rides on Demko himself. Benning and co. are ready to move out pieces if a young player has earned a spot.
  21. I want to see these kids grow in positions they are ready for. Hamhuis should be re-signed for a lot of reasons. He already took a discount when he signed with the club as a UFA. I don't expect him to sign for anything less than 3.5. Hammer deserves to be here and with how weak your defensive core looks, I really hope he signs. Pedan, Stecher and Tryamkin to some degree shouldn't be gifted spots on the roster, with how many injuries the Canucks d get as well depth is massively important, Hammer would be a crucial piece. Benning spoke about having to have an 11th guy on the depth chart due to how many defensive injuries the Canucks seem to get in his exit presser. I think they will rotate defenders in and out in the line-up and let them earn their spots. Unless Stecher has a fantastic camp and pre-season I don't see him making the cut, atleast for the beginning of the season. I expect Subban to get a shot next year as well with one or two call-ups throughout the season. Edler - Tanev Hamhuis - Sbisa Hutton - Tryamkin Biega - Pedan Speaking of kids growing, signing Richard Bachman was such a smart little move by management. He is more than able to fill in as a backup in the NHL and Demko will have a good mentor down in Utica next season. I wonder how they will split the games? I can't judge if Demko is better than Bachman at this point. Maybe that will be established as next year goes on? Beyond thrilled that the Canucks signed Demko (as expected). There was starting to be some doubt building up in my mind possibly from being on CDC too much but very happy he has committed.
  22. Personal favorite part of this video: Stecher filling up Boeser's skates with water. 12:08. I know this is the Boeser thread but watching this video gives me the impression that Stecher is going to be a guy that's big in the lockerroom to keep things light, seems to be a bit of a goofball
