  1. Seriously though, what would you do with more capspace right now? I've seen you complain all throughout this thread. What are you doing with the cap space, the 25% we are retaining, what are you doing with it? What are you going to accomplish with it if you were GM? Retention is lifted at the end of this season. A season in which we are already eliminated. What gain is it to us?
  2. No he isn't. Raty is our best prospect now, without a doubt. Not to be harsh on Lek here, but he's not had a good year at all and if anything he has regressed in his development. Raty is an excellent prospect that has already got some time in the NHL and looks like he will be a player for years to come. Prototypical 2C type of player, smart, fast, excellent shot, defensively reliable, good on draws and he's got size too. He's your 200-foot centerman that has really good projections to be an impact player in the NHL. https://dobberprospects.com/player/aatu-raty/
  3. Will never understand posters who always look at every single transaction as one singular event. Seem to have absolutely no comprehension of a multiple step method towards building something. A chain of events is what it is. Team got a really nice haul, addressed center depth, and some of you are crying over not getting a defensemen back? A defensemen now to save this season? What? We need defense, but we ALSO need center depth and to get younger. I am happy with the trades we've been making this year.
  4. I am happy with the return. Aatu Raty is a really exciting prospect with a ton of potential. Feels like the pick will land closer to top 12 than not, 13-18 range if we pick. Even with Bo, the east is a beast this year and I don't think they have what it takes. Would be an interesting scenario if it ends up sliding to 2024 with an Isles team possibly without Bo on it as well. So 13-18 range this year or top 10 next. Sign me up on that one. B+ on the return.
  5. I don't see Demko being shopped. He like any other player in the league is always available, if the price is right. Makes no sense to move him. Got nothing to replace him with.
  6. Woah. Unexpected but expected with the middle of the road type of "safe" approach we've seen the past 10 years + Kuz has been a fantastic fit don't get me wrong. However, we could have gotten at least a 1st for him at the deadline. I don't really know what to think. Bye bye Bo.
  7. I'm trying to be fair but they would probably click the restart button if they could. JR is right, he shouldn't be talking to media anymore. If the idea was that Allvin wouldn't have to, I get it, but it hasn't worked out. I did like that he said he won't let media or fans effect decision making or "the process", that's a must. You can't stray from the plan because of an outside influence that isn't involved in said plan or with no overview. Patrick had a tough time there. He floundered on the key questions on direction and instead spoke about his staff. He got rattled, which in itself probably won't look great, especially considering fans and media are again questioning whether or not the team has a plan at all. Unfortunate look. Toch was as unspecific as he could be. I don't have anything to blame him for and hope this ends up being a more successful hire than the previous ones we've had. I hope he'll end up doing quite well here. Hope the fans can get behind him as well.
  8. Adding Gonchar and Foote to the fold is intriguing. Sedins, Higgins, Samuelsson, Komisarek, Gonchar, Foote. Maybe it’s nostalgia, but that’s quite a group to learn from in practice.
  9. Was hoping for the white skate jersey. Think it's the best we've ever had.
  10. Very poor decision. I don't care at all if they skip out on media but I feel you should at least acknowledge the season ticket holders. Show up and answer some questions out of respect at least, the answers don't even have to be good imo. Very important to just show up. I'm just not for this whole "they need to be held accountable" type of perspective. It doesn't help them improve the team by getting berated or being even more preassured to stressed out because of something. I want them as focused as possible in order for them to execute their job as well as they possibly can. Not in the case of a STH event. Poor poor look.
  11. I'd rather him try to do something in regards to the team than speak to the media. Get something going over the phones. As a fan base we are smart enough to already know the cookie cutter answers we would get anyways. In his position, where the team is at, there is not a lot to say about it. We have a painfully average hockey team being paid like contenders.
  12. I’m not usually the negative type but it’s time to call a spade a spade. This years done and they need to be sellers at the deadline. They also need to fully commit to getting younger. Not just say it, but act it, do it. They need a re-do on the whole building a core with surrounding parts good enough to win. Right now the team is built like full playoff mode but in reality is very much mediocre in all aspects. Teams don’t have much wiggle room cap wise but the Canucks need to capitalize on trading Kuzmenko and Schenn. With their contribution vs cap hit ratios, you should be able to ask for a lot back. Horvat should be apart of the solution, but where we are at, you sell him to the highest bidder. Everyone is on the block outside of Petey, Quinn and Demko The stars just didn’t align for us this go around. If we could just delete the OEL contract, that would be great
  13. Honestly think it's the only place in the league he could have a chance of some success. Not based on the Rangers being anything special or something like that. He's looked like an absolute floater everywhere else he's played. Disinterested, unengaged, sloppy. The only thing that can make this guy skate and hustle, playing for his favorite team.
  14. No. I think it makes us look weak to still hate them for 2011. They keep winning that series as long as our bitterness remains.
  15. No more depth defenders that are equally as bad as each other.
  16. Yeah no kidding.. ever heard of exaggerating a point? Thanks for clearing up the obvious!
  17. 90% of CDC wanted Bo traded and Miller re-signed. Here we are with what seems to become the outcome. Now however, 90% of CDC want Bo re-signed and Miller traded. We all are about as consistent as the Canucks performances have been this year :D
  18. Just saying, recent history of rumors and the Canucks have been way off from reality. The media credibility is at an all time low. New management have consistently been very tight lipped and wasn't Doerrie fired for being a bit too media friendly so to say? That situation seemed to at least reach it's climax after an article/interview with Doerrie was published. Chris Gear was let go, he's since become a part of the media and was rumored/criticized for also being too media friendly. Those are the public ones I can think of. I can imagine it also being one of the reasons for some of the other dismissals that have happened since JR started running hockey ops. I don't buy anything that the media claims to be from within the Canucks organization. I'm not saying nothing will ever get leaked, either intentionally or unintentionally, but it hasn't been the story line so far and I see no reason for that story to be rewritten or changed. Signs point to the opposite. GMs and player agents, heck even players, can use the media as a tool to get desired results. I don't see how the Canucks benefit from this information being public and therefor i deem this rumor to be untrue. Doesn't really speak for the agent either as it would be more effective to just demand a trade. More dramatic, more preassure on the Canucks etc. Tell me I'm wrong.
  19. Not sure why we've flipped the switch on the Stillman trade. We paid a 2nd to get rid off Dickinson and his cap. Took on Stillman for cap reasons and a shot at a turn around just like Dickinson was to Chicago. To say we paid a 2nd for Stillman is changing the context.
  20. Agree with this 100%. I can imagine Canucks management making a shortlist of prioritized players. A power ranking of sorts. I agree with the sentiment of 3 players being off the table and the rest are available (Demko, Quinn, Petey). Kuz though, making me think that number should be 4 and that his extension should be prioritized. Think the Canucks have a decent chance here to get a bridge deal and wait out an expiring Tyler Myers contract for example. I don't even mind them selling low on Boeser at this point, just to make sure there is enough wiggle room to keep Kuz and Horvat around and look to improve the defense. I posted in the off-season that the Canucks set themselves up for some auditions this year. Kuz has come in and showed that he can replace a top 6 forward plus we have Hoglander and Podkolzin on the roster. The musical chairs game is on, it really is. We need to move forwards out and so far into this audition period here, I don't think we would downgrade too much with the depth we have, guys are proving they are ready to step in and replace others.
