That's good news. It needs to be encouraged.

It's been a few years, since I live in CA now. Since I recall Deb still getting complaints for making noise, I figured management was still suppressing exuberance there. Unless it's profane, I can't think of too many reasons for getting fans to be quieter.
-
Well, if they play to empty arenas, won't that give us an advantage, given how poor the atmosphere is in ours?
-
They should make sure there are no blackouts, so those fans can still enjoy watching at home. Be weird to not have fans in attendance, but especially for leagues late in the season, like hockey and basketball, it's not terribly fair to the players to cancel things now.

[PGT] New York Islanders at Vancouver Canucks | Mar. 10, 2020

Your homage there refers to an awesome show. Saw the reboot live once (well, twice, since they filmed 2 shows that night), and seen a number of the guys together live. Brilliant people. -

All those big, strong athletes on the ice. Just boggles the mind how an occasional blind mouse or two can really mess things up. Glad the boys could hang on and get the W. -
Careful... that might come across as anti-semitic. It's not a terribly rare Jewish name. https://thegrayzone.com/author/sam-finkelstein/

Looks like someone's not playing nice https://www.truthorfiction.com/if-you-misspell-berniesanders-com-as-berniesander-com-do-you-get-redirected-to-a-donation-page-for-the-biden-campaign/ There's a BernieSander.com (not Sanders) website, that directs to a Biden fundraising site. Pretty slimy, Uncle Joe (edit: or whoever is doing this. Could just as easily be a scam, i guess?). Although it might not be immediately apparent, what the user claimed here is that opening the page on mobile oriented the page so that only the donation field was visible. That means that people intending to donate to Sanders who accidentally typed in “BernieSander.com” might have been accidentally donating to Biden while intending to donate to Sanders, and if the person’s mobile device saved the misspelled “BernieSander.com” instead of the correct “BernieSanders.com,” they could conceivably and inadvertently give multiple donations to the Biden campaign. To test the claim, we opened “BernieSander.com” on two separate iPhones. Although the “Biden 2020” logo was visible for a split second during load time, the ActBlue page did load as described by the user, obscuring the campaign logo at the top of all ActBlue donations pages. Text above the dollar amounts did say, “Your contribution will benefit Joe Biden” — but the page was markedly different on mobile versus desktop:

How does this mess with energy independence? I can see it having an effect if it goes on long enough that workers in the industry move on to something else, and unused infrastructure degrades. But if SA is gonna sell it on the cheap, I would think they are the ones with the most to lose by this. Other countries, whether energy dependent or not, should be able to stock up for now, and return to normal later on. But, that could well be too simplistic a view. I know you are closer to stuff like this, so your insight is helpful. Anyhow, I think I have a possible solution... withhold military sales from them, IMO. They want (both of) our weapons, well, maybe they need to play nice with their oil prices. Gotta figure the other OPEC countries are pissed over this, too.
-
Wouldn't California get hit with some of the job losses? We have a not insignificant oil industry, albeit one that's been declining for some time. Our oil is not the cheapest to extract, so our oil workers would more likely to get laid off when prices are low. And, regarding how it impacts the economy as a whole, what has happened with previous changes? Haven't high gas prices had a negative impact on the econony before? Trump's tweet may only reflect a narrow view, but I don't think he is wrong.

Given the use of the word "Tyre", I doubt it is in the US. Although, the guy on the left kinda looks like my neighbor Edit: BBC article has this pic, and it refers to a store in Australia. According to articles, there have been fights over TP there, women punching and slapping each other, and some guy pulled a knife on another customer https://www.bbc.com/news/world-australia-51731422 @Alflives

Whatever. you say he was abrasive to you, and there's nothing to back that up. Wish I could take back the last few posts. This might not be the most wasteful time I've spent here, but it is in the running. Enjoy the rest of your weekend, and GCG.

Can you find a post of yours he replied to? I couldn't, although I wasn't looking before the non-goal happened.

Oh yeah, I'm not knocking the Dems on this, although 20+ candidates to start things was reminiscent of the CA governorship when Ahnahld won.

Wrong Alf

Yep, debates with 5, 6 ppl, or more, are a waste of time. So much yelling on top if each other.

There are plenty of reasons to be here. There are lots of things to talk about here. Having an opposing fan or two in GDT can be fun. He is not the only person whose first team is not the Canucks, and we are better off for having them here. We get insight into the other teams that most of us would not know. SF was never a Canuck hater.
-
Ahhh, no, he did not. He (and his city) were mocked well before he said anything at all untowards. Even his questionable statements (barring anything that was deleted by Mod) didn't measure up to what came his way, IMO. There was at least two other people pointing out it was not a goal. All before it got heated with SF. None of them were antagonized, beyond a couple confused emojis. Care to explain why those people were left unscathed? If he was spewing opinion like fact, pissing people off, that would have been a completely different story. People here were seeing what they wanted to see, with limited perspective, and ruling out plenty of reasonable alternatives to their perceptions. The net moves all the time... sticks or players brush up against it regularly. Goalie moving from side to side can lift the post, making the netting move. Shot angles make all the difference. There have been offsides and goals that looked completely clear cut given the main angle, but get close up or change the shot angle, and the truth is made clear. I would guess any regular hockey fan has seen it more than once. Why would this instance be any different? Holy cow, if I was participating at that time, piling on like so many others, I would have been extremely embarrassed come intermission (or, sooner, looking at a clip posted in the thread). Yet to this day there are some people defending themselves in this. Wow. It must have been particularly nasty and therefore deleted, cuz there are no posts of him replying to you after Boeser took the shot. I do see that there are plenty of people who apologized though. I guess a bunch of people figured it out themselves that he was owed something.
-
That should make him pretty welcome. It's not like he was being a tool the whole time (or much of it, for that matter). How do you live with a Leafs' fan under the same roof?

He is not banned. He chooses to be absent.
