Allowing the players to play through together with their linemates without constant juggling is probably going to help with team chemistry. I'm not sure why Green kept juggling his lines like a blender. I didn't see the game tonight, but did Boudreau do that with some of the teams he's coached in his career with other teams? I know tonight, he didn't need to juggle lines, and Green did because his teams struggled before he was let go. -

I dunno. Ottawa's owner I find is the root problem of their problems organizationally, but he's not leaving anytime soon. -

No kidding eh. Where would the team be without Demmers? I'm so &^@#ing glad that he's signed for the next five years. -

I think it's also that someone else is reaping what another person and his team has built. Gillis inherited Nonis and Burke's team before they were let go. Benning had to build from scratch essentially, and now there's a core that the next GM will build off of, and if the team wins the Cup, it's a combination of both. Benning built the core that would have won the team the cup, but the new GM would have added pieces to that existing core. So you can't say it's one GM's team over another. Credit has to be given to both men and their teams. -

Great win tonight against L.A.. The boys played really well tonight. They beat a decent team tonight with the Kings. Definitely better than Ottawa and Montréal. So this was a better win, in my books. PP looks better, but how did the PK look? I'm listening to Boudreau speak post-game. I'm not sure what it is with Green, but the two are night and day. With that being said, it is his first game, and it's not unusual to get a win. I wonder what the team looks like in the next few games, and if they start to go back to their "regular" patterns, what does Bruce sound like then? Green had it tough. Kept losing, it was hard to keep up an encouraging demeanor. I want to see what Boudreau does with this team, and his demeanor when the team isn't doing so great, and they're losing a few here and there. LOVING THE WIN though. I'm willing to bet this does a lot more to the psyche of the players. They needed a game like this more than anything, didn't they? Also. I'm curious to hear none of the players saying much about Green and his departure. No public defense of their former coach. Anyone else thought that was kind of odd? -
[Report] Canucks fire Jim Benning, name Stan Smyl as interim GM

Yeah. No to Marc Bergevin. I don't want a guy who drafted a player who did something very wrong, the player themselves asked not to be drafted, and then Bergevin goes ahead and drafts him. Like, what the &^@#. The one thing that I'll give Benning is that he drafted players who have character, or at the very least, he valued it (minus some players like Jake, of course). I hope our next GM will value character as something that is worth much in a player (and skilled of course, that is a given). -

The midgets? You mean, like Garland, who has been one of our best forwards on the team despite being one of the smallest? I hate this narrative and obsession that Canadians have about being big. Virtanen was big. Where's he playing at? Oh right....the KHL. -

Don’t think DiPietro would be ready to backup at the NHL level. -

What would you pay for Bo? 6M x 7 years? -

Schenn? Hunt? It shouldn’t be hard to find a LHD that can kill penalties. -

I wonder if Smyl reaches out to Tryamkin and sees if he’s willing to come to Van and play. -

I think you’re right. If Benning had fired Green, and found a replacement for this season, he could probably still be GM of this team. Should’ve also resigned Tanev, and probably traded Markström and gone with Demko so as to recoup some picks/prospects. Markström would’ve left anyways for Calgary or at the very least free agency. This day was coming. I knew it would’ve been today or tomorrow. But changes were going to be made pretty quick, because well, what happened the other night happened on national television. If that’s not embarrassing, I’m not sure what is. I think if it didn’t happen on HNIC, I honestly think Aquilini’s would’ve have just sat and waited. But because the entire country saw what happened. To not make a move would have just invited even more criticism from not just the market in Vancouver, but the entire country. -
Well, making the playoffs regularly should be the goal for this group and team. We’re not contenders, so expecting this group to contend for Lord Stanley is just not realistic. Boudreau I think can probably get us to the playoffs next year, assuming some changes are made to beef up the roster. But once there, this city has been starving for a championship for almost 52 years now. Do the Aquilini’s have a time frame for hiring the next GM? Because he should probably have enough leeway to get a gauge on the 2022 draft as well. Can’t screw that one up, especially it being so deep.

I don’t think Boudreau is a long term find for the team. He’s on a 2 year deal right? Was that something Boudreau wanted or the Aquilini family? I’m also concerned about Boudreau’s playoff record. It’s not great. If he couldn’t get over the hump with The Great 8, then I’m not sure how he’s going to do with a team that has no real superstar players (yet). I wonder why Boudreau was signed only for 2 years? Does that give the new GM an opportunity to hire his guy? And is there a plan to hire a President or just another GM?

Kind of sad when those 2-3 are the “best” RHD this franchise has ever had. -

Is there a reason for why he’s never gotten a GM gig before? Like this would be the closest he’s gotten to a GM position in the league, no? -

Because they're all inexperienced.
