  1. You know what. It was just good to see Petey score yesterday against Montréal. He hasn't done that enough this season. Must feel good to be able to score. I hope this inspires him to play better especially tomorrow against the Sens. Another bad team (like us), but we can be the less worse team. It's not much, I know, but in a season where we are not even 30 games in, and it feels like the season is lost, got to try to find something positive. I'm tired of hearing all the negativity and no solutions to it (by the owners up to this point). It's draining.
  2. I would agree with this in that both teams are terrible. BUT. We are the less terrible team (at least for one night) because we beat them!!
  3. Some good insight here. Thanks for sharing. I can't imagine Demko in a Kraken uniform. Wow, that would have been crazy, especially with how this season has gone. If Seattle had Demko, they'd be farther along (as in higher in the standings) than we are, for sure. Demko has been, this season, our saving grace. When the forwards can't score, he's been able to on more nights than not, still hold the team together and give them a chance to win. He's done just about everything except score goals, which is the job of the forwards on this team, and they're not doing a very good job at that. With that being said, I sense the team is turning a corner very possibly. Bo's starting to come around offensively. Petey looks like he could be breaking out, maybe (I mean, we can only hope right?). I'm so used to Pettersson having 2-3 point nights, that it is extremely unusual now to see him just with one point a game, and more times no points a game.
  4. I think it depends if they can get a win against the Sens. If they can win that one, and the offensive guys are the ones potting in goals, like Brock, Petey, Bo, Miller, etc., then I can see the team getting on a bit of a roll, 3-4 game winning streak. Which would in my mind save Green's job at least for the remainder of the season to see if he can salvage the season with this team. Personally, I think the owners don't want to fire Benning or Green. But if they're forced to, then they will. For me, I think Green probably outlasts Benning. Benning is the one who constructed this roster. But yeah, I still want both those guys gone. Partly because Green's not going to leave King or Baumgartner, and the PK continues to suck, and the powerplay still ain't that great.
  5. if he doesn't kill any penalties then no. and we've got enough LD, we need a RD. when is one of those guys going to get on waivers /s
  6. Ah, my bad. I see. Then DeBrusk is going to get a decent return then from another team. Tryamkin I still think we could get something for the guy. It seems clear to me that he's not wanting to come to Vancouver.
  7. Yeah. Asset management is the one thing that's been poor on Benning and his team. For whatever reason they feel or think that it's okay to get nothing in return for players that just walk away. That doesn't make sense on any level. It's confounding and confusing to me what their rationale or logic could be for doing that over and over again.
  8. Yeah. I think Bo will be alright in terms of his game. He'll bounce back, he's starting to come to life the last few games, see where that momentum will take him over the course of the next few. With that being said, I think Green (even with the win tonight) is on thin ice, if not already in the water. He's dead man walking at this point. But he's being a professional about handling a difficult situation, that isn't going to go unnoticed with 31 other teams in the league. He'll get an offer somewhere down the line eventually. I think Green's a good coach, but coaches all have shelf lives. Even if they're good coach, heck, great coaches, they all have their time with an organization. Their voices eventually do go stale, and there needs to be a new voice that comes in. I think Green's voice has gone stale. I also think he needs to take a step away from coaching, and reflect on what he can do to be better, and he will. This team right now is made to take the next step. They're not a "young" team anymore, in terms of age, they're basically middle of the pack in the league. They're not super young, but they're not the oldest either. But as each year passes, they're going to no doubt get older. Eventually, the team has to transition to contender status, if not, then some of our core pieces will want to be a part of an organization that is in that window where they're contending. Benning judged that our window is essentially now. Is he correct? I don't think he's right. I think we still needed some veteran presence and leadership. It was maybe 1-2 years too early for this core to take on the leadership role(s) that the previous core took on. Petey, Hughes, Bo, Brock, Garland, Podkolzin, Höglander, etc., they're all going to learn from this, whether all of those guys will be in the same dressing room together when things start to rise again remains to be seen. I hope so. Garland will be where Miller will be in 2-3 years. I can't see new management tearing everything down, simply because I don't think Francesco has that patience. And to be fair the fan base doesn't have patience for that now, because we've just gone through a confusing 8 years of whether this team was competing now or rebuilding or doing a little of going back and forth on both. So no, we don't have the patience to wait for another rebuild. I'm with Bo on that one. I want to see this group of players start to contend, whether 1-2 pieces need to be moved so that the mix of players is better than what's currently there, then so be it. But blowing up the entire core? I don't think we need to do that. Getting the right mix is now what is needed. And that probably starts with a new coach, a new voice, a new vision and plan. Then it's the GM and AGM who needs to go.
  9. Bo's been playing a little better lately, so here's hoping the team turns a corner offensively at least, and the players that were expected to score goals and lead offensively will start doing just that. I love Bo and love that he's our captain. I hope the organization doesn't do the stupid thing and trade him. Boeser on the other hand. Ugh, could get ugly with his QO, and especially if ownership moves slower than a snail with relieving Benning and Weisbrod and finding their replacements ASAP. It's true that we don't have anyone to replace Bo. So, if he's traded, there needs to be someone of his equal coming back here. With that being said, I still say Miller is the one to go. For all the talk about his points per game, he's kind of disappeared over the last few games. Combine that with the fact that he's going to be close to 30 by the time his current deal with the Canucks is up, and I don't really see him resigning here for his last contract. I think he's going to move on. If the organization even senses that, or knows that by talking to him, then they need to find a trading partner and get maximum, and I mean, absolute maximum return for JT. I say, a 1st rounder coming back, and a young RHD as well for a guy who can be the emotional leader, put up points, and pretty much do everything you want in a forward. If that's not worth a promising prospect and a 1st round pick, I'm not sure what is. I see Miller being shipped out by this year's trade deadline honestly. Even if the team starts playing better, I do not think they can go on a once in a generation type of run that St. Louis did. This season's lost already, even 23 games into the new year. Too much to hope for. We also need the other teams in our division to start going on long long losing slides, I guess anything's possible - but not likely. If anything, those teams are probably going to catch fire in December and January which will bury the Canucks even more. This season's a wash. Time to just watch the games without expectation that the club will go on this immaculate run to get into the postseason. The farther they are in the standings, the more likely change will occur.
  10. oh at the end of this season? Okay, well, then he can probably be had for pretty cheap then. No team is going to give anything remotely of value for DeBrusk, if he's just going to walk at the end of the season. No &^@#ing way. Either he's had for cheap to come to Van, or we just wait until the off-season. We'll have new management anyways by then making smarter decisions.
  11. How often does a mutual termination happen in the KHL? I can't remember the last time a contract was mutually terminated. Do you?
  12. So, I'm betting that if Tryamkin does want to come back to the NHL, it's not going to be with the Canucks. Maybe trade his rights to another team for a pick?
  13. I'd be interested in DeBrusk, but not for a major piece going back to Boston. His career high in points is 43. I'm not sure I'm giving Boston a major piece for a guy who scores 43 points as his best season. I mean, Green had more points when he was a player than DeBrusk has. And I wouldn't even classify DeBrusk as "young" anymore. He's 25 years old.
  14. With how this season has gone, yes, I can imagine the backlash. With that being said, if for whatever reason we did win the lottery, I can't see Benning trading Wright. He'll choose him without a doubt. Whether Wright is a franchise centre/player, or is a Daigle like bust, who knows at this point.
  15. I mean, if he wasn't such asshole, he wouldn't be on waivers. If he's on waivers, and he's 24, that's different. But the man is 30 years old. He is what he is. Probably ain't changing his stripes now. And I'm not sure if we want a player like him in our locker room.
  16. No way that Boston does that deal. Pastrnak is a great player. So offensively good and defensively decent.
  17. We lose that trade right off the bad. Unless Boston adds significantly, I turn down that deal.
  18. I'm not happy when the team losses obviously it's very frustrating especially since the team has so much talent, it's just not showing on the ice. With that being said. If they continue to lose, then changes are coming. Changes will come. If they don't, then the market and its fan just becomes more apathetic to the Canucks, and that's bad for business. Aquilini's want that? Hell no. So they're going to make changes, because the market is fed up with the status quo and is wanting change. We want a team built for not only for the playoffs, but a team that can compete for the Stanley Cup. This team is so far away from that. They're not even built to compete in the regular season let alone the playoffs.
  19. It's possible that those guys either want 1. Green to be let go and the rest of his staff, 2. want the current management out, or 3. they want to be traded out. They're never going to admit to #3, because that's going to make them look bad. But if #1 and #2 are true, that still makes them look bad. What kind of professional does this? I mean, Brock's closer to 25, and they say that at 25 whatever you see is whatever you're getting on and off the ice. At least that's what people say.
  20. They all look pretty relaxed for a team that's 7 games under .500 and the season slipping away (or has slipped away).
  21. I don't really care about the score. All I know is that it's going to be another loss tonight.
  22. Yeah. I know. Gretzky was the best player ever to lace up skates, but he was a poor coach with the Coyotes. Green's no Gretzky, I know. But having a 70 point season means that he was a major contributor to his team. He knew how to score, and how to play. Does that often translate to being a great hockey coach? Not always, but I also think that when Green leaves the Canucks and is hired by another organization, he's going to be a much better coach at that time. It's too bad that he can't be that great coach here with Vancouver. With that being said, there are other coaches who are established and have had and is having great careers, and there are some smart up and coming coaches as well.
  23. Yeah, there's always a risk. Like is the gap that much between him and ivan miroshnichenko? If the gap isn't that large between the two players, then I'd go with the biggest upside. but the Canucks can't really afford to get a "Nolan Patrick" type of player or worse yet, Cody Glass. Is he the clear cut #1 pick? If not, I have nightmares of Alex Diagle all over again (I know that's not with us, but still, he was number 1, and turned out to be a bust).
  24. Arizona doesn't cover the Coyotes very much or intensely. If the team is on a losing ski, they'd be asking "We have a team?" Wasn't that the case when the Thrashers were in Atlanta? People didn't even know they had a hockey team there. It was so shameful.
