It’s what we said 3 or 4 games ago.

Yeah. I don’t have an issue with Green personally. But I think his voice has gotten stale. I think if he lands somewhere else, I think he could be a really good coach and have tremendous success. But at least here in Van and with the Canucks, his time is just up. He’s become stale, and it’s time to move on.

That’s good right? If we have more patience for failure and mediocrity that just isn’t acceptable.

We are not a good franchise at the moment. We are the laughing stock of the league right now.

[Rumour] Bo Horvat Trade/Contract Talks
N4ZZY replied to HOFsedins's topic in Trades, Rumours, Signings
Of course all the GM’s around the league would want Bo. He’s the kind of guy you want on your team. I can’t believe there’s even discussion about trading him. He’s a heart and soul kind of guy. He gives it everything he has on most nights. He looks terrible, but that’s because the system he’s playing in is terrible. We need a different voice behind that bench, to instill and inspire the team. Whatever Green is doing is just not working. But we need to keep Bo. Clutch playoff performer, those are the kinds of players we need to retain and keep. He steps up when the games matter the most. But he certainly can’t do it himself. He needs support, and the other top six players just aren’t doing their job (minus Miller, but I also don’t see him resigning with us when he can cash in). -

That’s right! We don’t need Toronto’s garbage. We have enough of our own goddamn it. -

Their bar and expectations are higher than ours it seems. -
What I don’t understand is why it’s taken the Canucks so long and why Montréal was so quick to dismiss their GM and AGM.

Yeah. Don’t go to games, but unfortunately we live in a hockey mad market. Ownership knows this, they’re not “stupid” The fans will always want Canucks hockey, and Canucks gear. So it’ll be hard to just not buy merchandise or not watch games, or not go to games. But it’s got to get really bad, I guess (as if ownership doesn’t think this isn’t good enough is beyond me), before ownership makes a change I guess? When Montréal makes a change faster than you, it says something. And they went to the &^@#ing Cup Final last year. Where has this team been? Playoffs in a year when the team didn’t even play a full 82 season? Ok. Great bar that Benning and ownership set there. Really high. No wonder we haven’t won anything in our sad sack history. -

If you placed a bet tonight on the Canuck’s loss, you’d probably make a lot of money. -

How is it that Montréal has fired their GM, their AGM in shorter time period than Vancouver has? Why is ownership moving at such a snail pace when it’s painfully obvious that change needs to occur? And how did Montréal move so fast in making change to their management team? -
How did Petey play tonight?
-
I’m not sure what I just read. LOL

Makes me wonder if Petey and Brock had long COVID symptoms with the way they’re playing. They’re both so out of character, it’s kind of crazy to think that their ability to score just fell off a cliff. I’m expecting a route tomorrow against Boston sadly. But we’ll see. It’s why the players play the games right? You just never know on any given night/day if the team can win or not. Well, sorry, should correct, unless of course your Arizona.
-
Yeah. I’m with you on both. If Boeser is getting traded, it’s got to only be for a blue chip RHD. And Bo. Well, I’ve said my thoughts on him. Love the guy. He’s playing on par just like everyone else. Green’s gotta go. I’m worried about the psyche of the players on this team. They need a new voice. The longer the owners go without letting Green go, the more damage it’ll do to this team long term. I envy Edmonton now. Whenever I see highlights, they’re such a good team. McDavid is McDavid - so God wearing 97. But Draistl has been walking on water. Having two of the best players in the league on your team is exciting as hell. Wish we had something like that to look forward to whenever the team took the ice. Would be nice to get back to that.
-
If Brock and Petey were playing as if they were game changers, I think we’d be far better than we are right this minute. Might be closer to .500, or .500 give or take a game or two, considering the defense is $&!#.
-
A lot of assumptions and ifs. Let’s assume that Shane Wright is even ready to crack the roster. Is he that good that he would centre the top line in the NHL right off the bat? We all know that we’re drafting 5th regardless of where we finish Not sure if Dipietro is ready to back up in the NHL. He’s been playing well in the AHL, but I’m not sure if he’s playing that well that he would be ready to be even thrusted into a back up role, yet. Might need some more seasoning. I don’t think we can get Dobson or Schneider, but hey, stranger things have happened right? A RHD defenseman is a premium in the league. Do you think that the Rangers would do a 1 for 1 deal of Miller/Bo for Schneider, or Dobson?
-
If he continues to play the way he has, that’s a terrific find in the 5th round. Literally an absolute steal and gem of a player. We’ll see if he can sustain his performance and play. 20 games, and he’s got 23 points, above a point per game. He’s playing far better than Elias Pettersson. Hell, Terry’s playing better than like 2/3 of our roster, if not more. He might actually be our leading scorer. A fifth round pick player!
-
I actually think historically, the Canucks have drafted decently in the later rounds. - Bieksa was drafted in the 5th round pick - Alex Edler (3rd round) - Jannik Hansen (9th round) - Ben Hutton (5th round) - Nikita Tryamkin (3rd round, does he count?) - Adam Gaudette (5th round) - Gustav Forsling (5th round) - Jack Rathbone (4th round) - Michael Dipietro (3rd round, very possible) - Artus Silovs (6th round, possible) Some of the more recent later round picks are too early to tell. But there are some good players that were drafted in the 3rd round and beyond. Many have contributed (not all) in major ways to the organization when they were in blue and green. Obviously the younger players like Dipietro and Silovs are yet to be determined whether they can contribute in meaningful ways.
-
I mean, there has to be an alternative to the 4th line centreman. What about calling up Nic Petan? He’s more of a centreman, even though he doesn’t help by being a lefty. It’s hard for me to believe that the organization has zero right handed centers. Like, did Benning and his team not think through this and thought it was a good idea to enter the season without a righty?

Don't Expect Big Changes Anytime Soon ( Article).
N4ZZY replied to cuporbust's topic in Canucks Talk
Which is why I've said before that Green's undoing is going to be because of Baumgartner. Seems like those two are joined at the hip. I agree with you that Baumgartner should have been fired last season for a horrible job he did. But Green, for whatever reason, likes him and has decided to keep him on board. That decision in my opinion will be what has caused him to lose his job. He is the head coach after all. Surround yourself with good people, smart people, or the ones you do hire will make a fool out of you. Guess which one Green looks like? He doesn't look like a smart coach, and I think that's partly because he has two incompetent assistant coaches in King and Baumgartner. -
Why does everyone want Evander Kane? The guy isn't even young anymore, his best career year is 57 points, and all reports indicate that the man 1. doesn't have a good head on his shoulders, 2. is a cancer in the locker room. Do we really need that kind of player with all of our young players? Petey's struggling, and people are crucifying him, and we want Kane???
