  1. I could see it. But maybe he deserves it, to light a fire under his ass to perform and get his game together. 24% of the season is already done.... If he's not getting his game going at this point, it'll soon be 30 percent of the season done. This is by far going to be his worst season in his young career (we hope).
  2. I didn't know Babs was in town for a game against UBC. But I can see if he was in town, like you say, why not reach out and chat with him to see if it's a possibility to coach the Canucks if there's interest there. Explore. It's better than doing absolutely nothing and sitting on their asses all day. I guess bad press is still press and coverage on the team. No such thing as bad press right?
  3. We are there aren't we? Lost season already in November/early December. #BlightforWright it is moving on... But knowing our luck. We're going to draft 5th. So who's legitimately available at that number 5 spot. LOL
  4. haha. did't say it was legit. but hey, it's something to talk about?
  5. I figured as much, but thought I'd share and hear what the community here thinks about it, if it were true.
  6. I cannot see Aquilini’s paying Babcock 7M per year to coach. I mean, 2.75M for Green was already steep for them, 7M is bananas. If he comes here to coach, he's going to be taking a lot less, or he's not coming. I have mixed feelings about Babcock as well. Not many good things said about the man in Toronto for sure, I'm not sure about Detroit. And would his personality and his "style" of coaching actually be good for the young players on this current roster, or will his theatrics and his methodology be tuned out quicker than Green's?

  8. Came across this on Twitter: Leads me to think that maybe Green's tenure as head coach is coming to an end.... Thoughts on Babcock replacing potentially Green?
  9. Mike Babcock apparently in town and Aquilini family going to meet with Babcock. Is this a good move?

He's in town for a University game, no?

Wouldn't you at least meet with him if you owned the team and currently had Travis Green coaching it?

@BureBurrito Yes two games vs. UBC.

  10. How come the boys don't do any team building activities to get the boys to bond together? I've never heard Green creating stuff like that for the team. Isn't that what brings a team together, is when they're doing stuff outside of hockey, team building things together, having fun together, so that when they face adversity, they feel like they're in it together and have each other's backs. That doesn't seem to be the case for the team as of today.
  11. Are you tired of the negativity on media about the Canucks? (Twitter, Canucks Board, Radio, etc)

@Down by the RiverTwitter is the worse.

So many toxicity on the tweets when it comes to the Canucks. If it's negative on these boards, it's 10x worse on Twitter.

All of the coverage on the Canucks (mostly, if not all is negative) has taken a toll on me for sure. It's depressing to hear so much bad press and news about not just the team and its players underperforming (like almost all of the top six - Bo, Petey, Brock - that's half of our top six right there), but also bad press about the organization as a whole. It's so heavy. There is almost nothing positive about the state of this team, her management team, her coaches, and her players. It's all bad.

On top of that, there is a deep distrust with the franchise right now. Brand loyalty is, I wouldn't say at its lowest, but is declining for sure. I don't trust Benning to make good trades on behalf of the franchise that he eventually will be leaving (can't see him staying beyond this season).

@N4ZZYDrance is fine when it comes to print... his podcast with Farhan Lalji is, to me, impossible to get through. Not because what Drance says is necessarily wrong, but because he seems to regularly openly mock/laugh at the lack of success individual players are having. He is just extremely obnoxious, especially because he seems to be accentuating the length of his laugh for effect. Reeks of West Van privilege.

  12. Send Bo to hockey purgatory. LOL it's confusing talking about what's going on these days with the team. It's absolutely negative talk every day, all day on the radio waves. Then again, the team hasn't given the media much positivity to talk about. It's been a $&!# show in Vancouver with regards to the Canucks. Absolute $&!# show. I'm not the least bit surprised that GM's in other organizations and teams are surrounding the Canucks like vultures attempting to pluck one of their key "core" players for cheap. They're hoping that Benning cracks under the immense pressure right now, and makes a piss poor deal.
  13. how is Miller the Messier? &^@#. If that's the case, then ship him out. &^@# MESSIER FOR ALL &^@#ING ETERNITY.
  14. and to my knowledge, those three GM's aren't active in the league are they?
  15. Well, at least Cheech is having fun. Can't say the same watching this team.
  16. Nope. That was “go-to-hell Michael Heisley” ROT IN HELL MICHAEL.
  17. So excellent trigger man, but maybe not as fleet footed as some other players. I think he’s a decent to pretty good player. He could get us a pretty good haul, if he were traded when his value is at his highest. That time is not now. Other GM’s would rip Benning apart if he were to swing a deal. He’s not in a position of strength to maximize the return. With that being said, I have zero confidence that Benning will do the right thing. He’s going to try to protect himself moving forward because his ass is on the line, as well as Green. The way that Green is also handling Pettersson, oh man, you have to think that eventually Petey’s going to be a disgruntled player.
  18. At this stage, would not mind claiming this guy. Couldn’t hurt the locker room, and they need help on the PK, I’m surprised that Benning and his team isn’t claiming more players and waiving more to see what they can get from the waiver wire bin.
  19. Is Green fired at the end of this road trip?

I don't even know anymore.  There is no excuse for his continued employment.

I think Green will be fired if they go 0-5 on this trip.

But then again, I've been surprised that they've kept an incompetent GM for 8 years, and resigned Green to 2.75M.

This team is just the laughing stock of the NHL at this moment. We are not a good franchise right now.

And we used to make fun of Edmonton...

Who wants to come to Vancouver now?

  20. Whatever the score, it’s going to be a loss for the Canucks. It’s obvious that the players have tuned the coach out.
  21. I think the new GM and coach will have to sell their vision to the current core and win them over. Because it’s becoming apparent to me that Benning and Green has failed at that miserably. Benning especially doesn’t seem like he can inspire. He doesn’t seem to strike with confidence when he speaks (no offense, Jim). And then to top it off, his moves for the most part during his tenure here haven’t worked out either. So many failed attempts. I say the new GM has 1-2 years to prove that the work he’s doing is moving the team forward, and if they can win SO MANY &^@#ING GAMES NEXT YEAR, then I can’t see why some of the players who might want out at that time, wouldn’t want to remain. Culture takes time to grow, and especially when it’s so toxic as it is right now.
