  1. Yep. Exactly. I think it’ll happen sometime during this road trip.
  2. McFarlane? I’d love to give him a shot. But might be more of an off-season hiring than an in-season hire. Colorado would give us permission to speak to him too. Cause it’s a good sign when another organization wants one of your own, and they wouldn’t stand in McFarlane’s way of becoming GM in the league. That’s what all AGM’s work towards in their managerial careers to be the man in charge. McFarlane couldn’t be worse than Benning. I mean the bar is so &^@#ing low for the next GM.
  3. Gillis was a really bad drafter. In all of his time here, who was the one player that’s been a productive NHL player? Bo? He was terrible drafting wise. When he left there was absolutely zero prospects coming up. Benning had to restock that when he’s first started. What Gillis was really good at, in my opinion, is surrounding the core of his team with good supplemental pieces. Good depth pieces. But Gillis had nothing to do with building the core, he inherited it. Maybe Gillis might be good, but why would he come back here when he and the Aquilini’s had apparently a sharp disagreement enough that they fired him.
  4. Then a coaching change is probably inevitable. Green can take King and Baumgartner with him, because we don’t want them around. New coaching staff all around.
  5. Don’t think it’ll ever happen. There are markets like Toronto and Montréal that won’t ever move from Canada. Thank God, not that I love those teams. But moving Edmonton (now that they have McDavid), or Vancouver would be hard. I can see Ottawa moving one day from here to a US market. And Québec getting a team back? I think that’s full of horse$&!#.
  6. Have trouble following orders? This is a team game. Is this his way of protesting against Green? Cause it seems like that’s what the team is doing, and management isn’t either taking notice, or they’re too dumb to take notice.
  7. It’s a multibillion dollar business. If there’s a better market than Vancouver, Bettman would relocate. Owners be damned.
  8. Well, let’s hope so. But at the end of the day, it’s always going to be about the money.
  9. Well, I also hated his comments this off-season. But if he thought that things would be easy for him moving forward, then this season is some major humble pie. He’s under contract. He’s Canucks property until he’s not. But you’re right. He’s got to put in the work. If he wants to be a part of a winning team, maybe he’s got to see himself as part of the solution and not demand that he be “given” a winning team. Pay your dues. Whatever happened to hard work, and being a part of a team, and creating something special? Has that breed of players just gone with this generation? I’m honestly asking. I hope Petey gets time to reflect on his own attitude, because I still &^@#ing love him as a player (well, not with the current way he’s been playing). But if he has entitlement issues, then, well, might be best to part ways while his value is still high (if he can get back to his old ways).
  10. I think you have some really good points. I also agree that it’s deeper than just the collection of players. Great players, but they don’t seem to care for one another or play for each other. They can say all they want, but at the end of the day, their actions on the ice says more than what comes out of their mouths. If they cared for one another, they’d stand up for each other. They don’t. Horvat didn’t fight when Podkolzin was hit, even if it was a clean hit. Nobody, like you say, did anything to fight the player that took out Hughes - he had to handle it himself. Like what kind of message is being sent to the room when these things happen all over the ice? I think the damage has been done like you’ve said. Unfortunately, it’ll mean 1. Green gets canned, 2. Some of the core players will be moved on for prospects, and other players of similar age. There’s no patience now with the fan base for another rebuild, and it’s not because we cannot stomach it. It’s because they botched the first one 8 years ago. This management team doesn’t get to do another rebuild because they screwed up the first one.
  11. I’d qualify this and say new local ownership. I don’t want someone out of the province and who’s not committed to keeping the team in Vancouver at all costs. That’s one thing that we’ve had with the Aquilini’s. They’ll keep this team here forever, because they’re proud Vancouverites. But their vision, particularly Francesco, is horrible. I don’t think it’s about selling or keeping the team. I think their disagreement has more to do with rebuilding the right away, or continue to take shortcuts and remain “competitive”
  12. Apparently there's a clash between Francesco and Roberto. Good. I hope Roberto takes over. Because it's apparent that Francesco has no &^@#ing clue how to run this prized possession that is the Canucks.
  13. Man, look at Miller's face when asked if everyone's buying in. Says everything you need to know about the current state of the team.
  14. I'm pretty sure that Petey and Brock both know that they've been underwhelming. This season is going to be historically bad. I'm already sick of watching this team play, and we're only 1/4 of the season in.
  15. I'm not sure how Benning also gets as much pull as he does. It's actually quite insane. And he's had 8 years of this. Most normal owners probably would have fired their GM after year 5 or 6. But Francesco has kept Benning around even after that. Could it be possible that Benning stays until the expiration of his current deal? That'd be ten years. 10 years. Green's going to be the first to go. I think he knows it, and is expecting the shoe to drop at any point during the road trip, or after this road trip. If so, then 4 more games to go. If they go 0-5, he's definitely gone. I can't imagine coming back home with your job still in tact after going 0-5 on the road. With that being said, I think they'll win 1. And he'll still be fired.
  16. We need Roberto take lead rather than Francesco. Meddling with the family toy is destroying their brand. The sooner the rest of the family realizes this, the better it'll be for their "shiny toy".
  17. I don't think it's the right move. Putting them in as coaches would be seen as an act of desperation, and it would also set up the greatest Canucks of all time, to fail. I wouldn't want that for them or for the team. They have zero experience, and after hiring so many people in management and coaches with zero experience. I think it's time to hire some experienced, qualified NHL people.
  18. wouldn't be surprised. Benning doesn't seem to have a backbone. there's a lot of families on the team, so i wouldn't be surprised if this would be a divisive issue. It certainly is in the society we live in today, wouldn't be surprised if it was the same inside the locker room.
  19. I don't see how he could be coach still at the rate that they're losing games. If he remains, it's just bad for all parties involved. Bad for the fans (apathy, anger), bad for the players (resignation to the fact that they can't seem to win), bad for management (and the culture they continue to perpetuate), bad for owners (losing money), bad for the post-game show guys (Bik and Shah) who have to talk about a loss every single time the team plays. It's just bad for eveyone. Change is needed. Change is necessary at this stage of the organization's existence. None of the pieces fit from management on down (can't change ownership).
  20. I can't imagine their first home game, if Travis is still coach then, there will be some boo's for sure, I'm almost certain about it. CHANT AWAY for all the fans going to the games. #FireBenning #FireGreen
  21. I don't think he's coming here until after the season is done, if the fit is right. But I think Green is a goner at this point it's just a matter of time. And then I think Benning is gone if the team misses the playoffs, which is a foregone conclusion at this stage. There doesn't seem to be any life with the players. Like their confidence has been sucked out of them completely. I think OEL and Garland is okay, but that's primarily because they came from a $&!#ty team.
  22. This needs to be re-quoted to Benning's &^@#ing face. The guy who said that he could turn around the team quickly, look at the product on the ice you asshole!
