At what point do the players give up on the franchise?
N4ZZY replied to danjr's topic in Canucks Talk
Yeah. I saw a clip of JT's facial reaction to the question being asked. Says a lot. Coach needs to go for Green's sake, but also for the Canucks. But also some of the players also need to go as well. -

Yep. And he better not push this $&!# narrative that we're not a "sports town" I'll lose my &^@#ing $&!# if he says that. Put a &^@#ing decent product, with a &^@#ing plan, and this city is all over that team. 8 &^@#ing years of mediocrity, and I wouldn't even say it's mediocre, it's a $&!# show this &^@#ing season. A tire fire. We are a proud hockey town, and specifically Canucks Nation, and this $&!# show from ownership to management all the way down to the coaching and the players has been an absolute disgrace for this organization AND this city. -

Then he'll eventually face the consequences financially. Fans aren't always going to come to the games. If the team's trash, they will vote with their money. He'll make changes (Francesco) because it'll hit his pocket eventually. -

I mean, I think we should just accept that we're gunning for Wright at this point. The season's over. -

Boy, it really sucks. I'm going to adopt a team until this team gets its $&!# together. Alright, Calgary, I'm coming in peace... -

boy. i'm not sure what to write. mistakes that they made, which they should not be making. what is wrong with this team? why aren't the players playing for each other? feels like tonight's game could be the turning point for this team. playoffs are literally out of reach. whatever percentage they have, it would require the other teams above them to $&!# the bed. not happening. -

I get that as a captain, you attempt to change and alter the course of a game when your team's going through a slump. I'm not sure what the reason is for him not doing that. Either he hasn't been able to, or he won't. Has he lost belief in the team? Because if he has, that's pretty telling tale of where his heart and his head is at. All the losing all these years couldn't have been easy on him either. He's been the longest serving Canuck out of all the current players, is he not? Might be missing a few other players, but he's one of the longest on the current roster. With that being said, I don't know what the process was in making him captain. Did he even want to become captain of the team? Or was it just given to him? Where is Hank and Danny? I wonder if they've been able to speak to some of the players and encourage them, or speak a few words to the team. -

And maybe even would have a different ending to his career had he stayed in Boston. -

It's a team game too. I think it's easiest to blame one guy on the team. Where was the criticism as Bo for captain when he was named? I don't remember a lot of people standing against that. Green, Benning, and the entire team has a lot to do with how bad this team is right now. One player doesn't change the entire team, its structures, etc, etc. Horvat can only do so much by himself. There has to be something deeper than just "he's not captain material" -

I guess it depends on what you see in a captain. Näslund didn't get to the net often. But he was captain. Leaders lead in different ways, not everyone leads in a "canadian" way. whatever that means. Sometimes in a market like this, we have a &^@#ing hard one for a particular way of "leading". There are quiet leaders. There are rah rah leaders. Neither one is better, just different. Maybe I don't understand hockey culture as well as others, but there should be more than one way to lead as Cap, no? How do you understand how the Captain of an NHL team should be leading? -

I dunno. He used to play in front a lot. Drove to the net a lot more in years past than he has in recent years. -
I could see Brock being traded because of health reasons, but wouldn't that diminish his value and worth? Instead of offering a 1st, teams would offer a 2nd and a B grade prospect. If that's what's out there, then I'm holding onto him until offers get better.
-
Brock could get a decent haul, I think. A 1st round pick for sure. How is a 24 yo, sniper, who could score 30 goals easy, isn't worth a 1st rd pick? He's easily worth a 1st and a decent prospect. Whether that prospect is a grade A prospect or not, well, that's the other question that needs to be asked, right?
-
Bringing Kane is going to destroy whatever is left in that room. He's a cancer. No to Kane. No forever. I don't care if he's from Vancouver. He's 30 years old like another poster has mentioned, and he's just not a good player, isn't motivated, there are so many reasons to stay away from that guy. He's terrible on and off the ice. NO.

[Rumour] J.T. Miller Trade/Contract Talks
N4ZZY replied to Podzilla's topic in Trades, Rumours, Signings
I think it's the narrative that some of us are pushing. That Miller and Brock's not happy and they're wanting to go to a winning organization. Miller I can see could definitely move on, Brock could move on for as simple as the reason that we cannot afford him under the cap. IF there is a trade to be done. I'd like to see Miller moved on for prospects/picks, a young RHD defenseman that can either contribute right away, or is close. But essentially a grade A prospect. I want to try to see if Brock can get going under a different coach and a different system. Heard rumblings about the Canucks being interested in Babcock? How much truth is in that? -

We're talking about this season, but what about overall as captain? This season already, is an anomaly. Bo's not Bo. Petey's not Petey. Brock's not Brock. There is so much that isn't 'normal' according to the talent, and character of some of these players. I think something is much deeper than what we can see as fans. Something is sick and hidden. We just aren't privy to know what that is. But something is definitely amiss, don't you think? -

I mean, the team isn't playing like a team either. We should get rid of everyone? LOL I like Bo. This is the first time he's played like this. Something is not right. I'd like, like everyone has said, for a coaching change, before determining what to do with Bo. I mean, if he doesn't want to come back, then okay, we trade his rights to another team for assets coming back. But if he does, and he wants to be a part of this process of making this club a winner, then he's a keeper. He'll bounce back. If you were to ask him if he's happy with his play, I'm sure he'd be the first to admit that his play hasn't been good, like at all. -
[Rumour] J.T. Miller Trade/Contract Talks
N4ZZY replied to Podzilla's topic in Trades, Rumours, Signings
I think he takes the best deal that an organization gives him. It's his last "harrah" kind of contract, in my books. He's not going to have the greatest season of his life at 34/35 years old. So he's going to want to sign a long term deal for sure (in my opinion). With that being said, there is bound to be a GM and a team in the US that will offer him the tree and the bananas that come along with it. Someone's going to go ape $&!# with their offer from a US based team. And when that happens, I think Miller will take that deal. The Canucks can't match, no way, and keep Horvat and retain Boeser. Unless someone can help me understand how they can do that? Say for example, Montréal (just as an example) offers him the max deal, but then another team, say, Los Angeles offers him the same amount. Dollars and term being equal, I think JT looks at the money, and goes there. Players want to win, that's true. And JT wants to win, but is he going to not want to get paid and look after his family? I say, he looks at his girls and his wife, and says, "&^@#. I can deal with losing if I'm being paid 8M per year for the next 7 years" Players want to play first. They want to win. But they also want to get paid. It's likely that Miller after this last contract is done with his career anyways. We need assets coming back. But I don't trust Benning to do right with any trades to be honest. The man looks to protect himself, same with Weisbrod - what the &^@# does he do after all these years? We hear nothing from him. We don't even know his job description. Getting paid to do nothing, what a dream job.
