  1. Thing is, I don't think Boeser is signing for less money and longer term. I think he bets on himself and signs a one year deal, which would take him to UFA the following season. We risk losing him for nothing at that stage.
  2. Boeser with a career high of 56 points? Boy, what's management going to do when he needs a new deal? His QO is 7.5M isn't it? That means he'll be making more than 8M. I don't think we have room for that. If you sign him to that, what about JT Miller who had a career high 72 points in his first year here?
  3. I think eventually, we need to get a new coach. For me, it's probably the 20 game mark. My prediction is that Green gets canned around 20-25 game mark. Shaw is his replaement for the remainder of the season until there is a completely new search for head coach.
  4. Miller and Boeser for sure. I want to try to keep Horvat, or else who you got as Captain moving forward? He's a good player too. I think we can get a lot for Miller for sure.
  5. I mean to be fair. Gaudette, Mac, Juolevi, McCann, all made the team to one degree or another. There was development, they just weren't developed fully before the players could make an impact. I mean, look at Jonathan Dahlèn now in SJ.
  6. and we didn't get anything for them. Just wanted away into UFA. This management group doesn't manage well. They've allowed their assets to walk away without getting any assets in return. If that's not bad management, I'm not sure what is.
  7. Well, Motte has been in, and the PK has still been bad. It's the PK system - that's on Green as head coach, and Baumgartner.
  8. It's tempting for sure to just strip everything down, and start over. Been 8 years. If it takes another 8 years to do a complete rebuild, that's almost 2 decades. I'm not sure if the fans here can be that patient. This current management and ownership is losing whatever social credit they've built up before. It's almost all gone. Distrust in the brand. This is just bad business practice. Not sure how Aquilini has gotten to where he has doing business like that. He either isn't a good businessman, or his brothers are lifting and doing most of the work financially. I'm not sure blowing everything up is the answer either. Can't just have a bunch of young players on the team. As we're seeing now, need to learn how to win. The culture of the organization in my opinion is rotten. And it doesn't matter what you do with the pieces, if the culture is toxic, that's the thing that needs to change. Question is, where does the culture of the organization come from? Who sets the culture of the organization? Is it management or is it ownership? If it's ownership, then we might be screwed as there's nothing any of us can do about that. We're powerless to make any changes from a fan's perspective and position. With that being said, when the Sedins were playing, they established a culture with their work ethic every season. I don't think we have that. We're missing that, and it's evident. This organization is a &^@#ing mess from top to bottom. It was masked over the years, but now we're at a breaking point, or very close to it. Ownership will do something. It's a matter of time, in my opinion, because the Aquilini's are more concerned about money coming in. If they keep Benning and Green when the market is at its feverish hellish point, then there will be greater distrust of the brand (the Canucks), and if there's distrust with the brand, people are not likely to spend money on a brand they do not trust. They'll find something else. Kraken gear and fandom? They're only down the I5, and Seattle is a great sports city - NFL, NHL, MLB, MLS and eventually, they'll get the NBA back as well. Lots to do there. I can easily see a lot of fans here cheering for the Kraken. We are, after all, a bandwagon city, right? If the root issue and the core issue is ownership, then it's going to be much of the same. I'm not sure how anyone with an independent mind is going to want to work for a meddlesome owner. And I'm not sure if Aquilini wants a GM that stands opposed to him. Past behavior is indication of future behavior right? Well, We've had Nonis, Gillis, Linden all leave the organization under Aquilini's ownership (from what I can recall at the top of my head). Sadly, I'm at the point where following this team is as depressing as the weather. I love this team, but at the moment, I just cannot watch their games. I know the team would've lost last night against the Avs even before them playing. Right now, if they win. It'll be more surprise than expectation. Can't imagine the pysche of the players right now.
  9. So they gotta commit to him before that, or get a lesser deal, or allow him to walk (if he leaves in UFA) for nothing. I can see Boeser signing with the Wild. Hometown, closer to his family/dad. Especially if the situation surrounding the team doesn't improve and next season is another bad season like this one. I suspect we'll need to clean house and start a new rebuild without Jim and Green at the helm. That would probably mean that Petey is gone, Bo's probably gone, Boeser gone, Miller gone. Because this club isn't a winner, especially if they're intending a full rebuild. IF Jim is at the helm at the next full rebuild, I think this fan base turns on the organization and becomes apathetic. We're not there yet, but I can see the day coming. Could be darker than the 97 season(s) where the team had such a talented group of players, but they were underwhelming for whatever reason. Bure, Mogilny, Messier (&^@# THAT MAN), etc., but they sucked balls. Goes to tell you that just because your team has the most talent, doesn't mean you win. There's a lot of "ingredients" needed, talent is one of them, but it's not everything. I thought Benning wanted character players - where is the character of this team right now?
  10. The thing is, he's not going to take 4M. We all know that. So is he trade chip? Horvat's career best is what? 60 points? What's that worth these days? I say 6M tops, closer to 5.5-6M, maybe closer to 6.3-.6.5 MAX. I'm starting to think we have some overpaid players on this roster. Petey's career high (up to this date) is 66 points? He's being paid 7M Bo's career high 61 points - he will want at least what he's making now so maybe closer to 6.5M + Brock's career high is 56 points. What is that worth? Brock's probably wanting at least 6M Miller? His career high was 72 points, in his first season with the Canucks. He's probably going to want north of what Petey's getting. So what's that? 7.5-8M? Benning's handling of his team's internal cap is a mess.
  11. Maybe there needs to be a trade eventually because the roster needs a shake up. I'd love to keep Horvat, because he's our captain, and I don't think he's the issue. I'm also not sure how much we can get for Bo compared to Miller. But these guys want to win, they're in that age where they needed to start winning now, or else frustration kinda just boils over, and players will either be demanding to be paid more to just play here and put up with the losing. Management has screwed up the cap so much that there's no way we can keep all those guys and have the flexibility when we need it.
  12. I'm not keen either, and like you've said, I don't think he wants to remain here in Canada probably prefers to head down back to the US. could see him signing in a large market like NY, or he could go back to Tampa Bay. We need to get something from him. With that being said, I'm not confident Jim can do it.
  13. Couldn't they trade him if he got the one year deal?
  14. I would agree that Benning is a terrible GM. He's probably better than Doug McLean, who used to be the GM of Columbus, but that's a &^@#ing low bar. C'mon, Jim.
  15. and there would be no gaurantee that we would get the first overall. knowing the luck of this organization and how we're cursed, we'll fall to fifth. even if it's not possible, we'll get there.
  16. Why does it feel like our organization doesn't want to win? Chicago makes a change in their coaching, and they start turning things around. But Vancouver continues to hold on to their coach even when now we're 5 games under .500? We are an inept organization from top to bottom, from ownership on down to management to the coaching. It's all &^@#ing bad.
  17. apparently 18,300 people were at the game tonight. that's pretty close to a sell-out isn't it?
  18. Man, it's crazy. A year ago, Petey was untouchable. Now, people want him traded. He's 22.
  19. yeah, me too. I'd like for them to keep Bo, Hughes, Demko, and Pettersson even with his struggles. I think he gets back to his former self.
